A Day to Remember has released an acoustic take on “Degenerates,” one of the songs on their upcoming album You’re Welcome, which is due out in March.
The video, filmed in an empty venue in the fall of 2019, features the band members sitting in a circle on the floor in front of the stage, playing the song unplugged. About a minute before the song ends, when the music pauses for a second, someone off screen — a stagehand, most likely — hits the CO2 smoke cannons at the front of the stage. You can tell from the band’s reaction that they didn’t expect it at all.
You can watch the video on YouTube now. When he posted a clip to his Instagram, frontman Jeremy McKinnon asked, “Should we do more of this?”
“Degenerates” is one of several songs ADTR has released ahead of You’re Welcome. The long-awaited and long-delayed record — the follow-up to 2016’s Bad Vibrations — was originally scheduled to drop November 2019. It’ll finally arrive on March 5.
