Stranger Things hits, unite!

Trivium‘s Matt Heafy teamed up with viral YouTube musician Anthony Vincent to release a mashup of Kate Bush‘s “Running Up That Hill” and Metallica‘s “Master of Puppets,” both of which saw major boosts after their inclusion in the fourth season of the Netflix sci-fi series.

The recording, which also features YouTube guitarist Steve Terreberry, sets the lyrics and vocal melody of “Running Up That Hill” to the instrumentals of “Master of Puppets.” Heafy handles guitar and contributes background screaming as well as vocals on the song’s bridge.

Following its placement on Stranger Things, “Running Up That Hill” climbed all the way to the top five on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, a career-first for Bush. “Master of Puppets” didn’t have quite as huge a resurgence, but it did make its first-ever appearance on the Hot 100 after its use in the season four finale.
