Trivium frontman Matt Heafy is guesting on an upcoming song from guitarist Sophie Lloyd, who plays in Machine Gun Kelly‘s live band.
The track is called “Fall of Man” and is available to presave now.
“Sophie Lloyd is an immensely talented force of a musician and songwriter,” Heafy writes in an Instagram post. “I recall first seeing Sophie’s guitar playing online and being truly blown away – so having been a fan of Sophie’s for several years, I was honored when asked to guest on an upcoming track. When I learned too that Trivium had been a longtime favorite band of Sophie’s – I was humbled and appreciative.”
Prior to joining MGK’s band in 2022, Lloyd built a following online with her viral “shred” covers of songs including Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Guns N’ Roses‘ “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”
“With Sophie now fronting both the solo project and being lead guitarist for MGK — there’s no question Sophie Lloyd is taking over,” Heafy says. “I can’t wait for the world to hear this single.”
Interestingly, Heafy hasn’t been the biggest fan of Machine Gun Kelly in the past. You may recall that, during Kelly’s feud with Slipknot‘s Corey Taylor in 2021, Heafy dubbed the “Bloody Valentine” rocker “Squirt Gun Smelly.”
