Trivium frontman Matt Heafy has tested positive for COVID-19.

The musician shared the news in an Instagram post over the holiday weekend, writing that he got the virus even after being vaccinated. He explained that his wife Ashley, who’s also vaccinated, caught it from a non-vaccinated person, which then spread to his non-vaccinated children before spreading to himself, too.

“Thankfully due to being vaccinated it merely feels like a tour cold,” Heafy noted. “My dad however got sick without a vaccine and is now 12 weeks into a very terrible recovery with lung/heart/liver issues.”

Heafy added that he “outta be good in a day or two,” and still hosted his usual livestreams.

The CDC reports that while no vaccine is 100 percent against any disease, the mRNA shots, which include Pfizer and Moderna, reduce the risk of COVID-19 and severe illness by 90 percent for fully vaccinated individuals.
