Get your mask ready — no, not that one: it looks like a new Slipknot record is dropping this year.
In a tweet over the weekend, frontman Corey Taylor revealed “SK album” as one of his 2022 plans. He also teased “updates” on his upcoming Zombie vs. Ninja movie, as well as “secret ‘homecoming’ plans.”
We can only assume that “SK” stands for “Slipknot,” but we’re leaving the door slightly cracked for the possibility of Taylor joining Sleater-Kinney.
Slipknot’s most recent album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released in 2019. If a new Knot record does arrive this year, it’ll be the band’s quickest turnaround since 2004’s Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) dropped three years after 2001’s Iowa.
Whenever Slipknot’s next album does make its debut, it’s expected to feature the single “The Chapeltown Rag,” which premiered this past November.
