The Serj Tankian documentary Truth to Power will be released February 19, 2021. 

The film follows the System of a Down frontman’s involvement in activism for social justice and human rights, specifically in relation to his ancestral homeland of Armenia. Tankian’s SOAD band mates Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan also appear in the film, as do Rage Against the Machine‘s Tom Morello and producer Rick Rubin.

“[Truth to Power] follows Tankian down an unexpected path as his passion for human rights and activism led him to become a social justice organizer in Armenia,” reads the doc’s description. “Fueled by interviews with the band, their producers, and fellow rock icons, Truth To Power is both an energizing rockumentary and an inspiring call to action for our turbulent times.”

Last month, System of a Down returned with their first new songs in 15 years. They released the tracks, titled “Protect the Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz,” in support of Armenia amid its war with Azerbaijan.
