Serj Tankian has released a new song called “Elasticity,” the title track off the System of a Down frontman’s upcoming solo EP.

The song, which you can download now via digital outlets, combines heavy guitars with a twinkling synth riff that plays under Tankian’s signature vocals. It’s accompanied by a video that features a young woman trapped in a mysterious room, but finds comfort in a talking Serj tattoo on her forearm.

You can watch the “Elasticity” video streaming now on YouTube.

The EP Elasticity will be released March 19. The title is a play on System of a Down’s 2001 album, Toxicity.

“When I conceived possibly doing another record with the guys from System of a Down a few years back, I started working on a set of songs that I arranged in rock format for that purpose,” Tankian says. “As we weren’t able to see eye to eye on the vision going forward with an SOAD album, I decided to release these songs under my moniker.”

While a new System album is still a purely hypothetical proposition, the band did return with a pair of new songs — “Protect the Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz” — last fall in support of their ancestral homeland of Armenia amid its war with Azerbaijan. The tracks marked the first time System had released new material in 15 years.

Here’s the Elasticity track list:

“Elasticity”
“Your Mom”
“Rumi”
“How Many Times?”
“Electric Yerevan”
