Last fall, Rammstein revealed that they had returned to the recording studio, just a year after they released their 2019 untitled effort. Now, keyboardist Christian “Flake” Lorenz has confirmed that a new album is in fact in the works.
Flake tells the German publication Motor.de that he and his band mates recorded the album while in lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The fact that we couldn’t perform live increased our creativity,” the keyboardist explains. “We had more time to think of new things and less distraction. As a result, we recorded a record that we hadn’t planned on.”
Rammstein’s 2020 plans originally included their first-ever U.S. stadium headline shows. Those dates have been postponed to 2021.
Flake didn’t share a release date for the upcoming record, but it certainly appears we won’t have to wait another 10 years like we did for the 2019 record.
