Nickelback is giving this “Photograph” an update for the digital age.

The Canadian rockers have recorded a parody version of their much-memed 2005 hit for a new Google Photos commercial. The clip scrolls through different pictures of frontman Chad Kroeger stored on the service, all while he sings about taking to many photos of his desserts and his regrettable past hairstyles.

“Falling down the photo rabbit hole/Is it my hair or just a ramen bowl?” Kroeger wonders, suggesting that he does indeed see your comments.

“Fifteen years ago, we had no idea that the photos on our mobile devices would become such a ubiquitous part of all of our lives,” Kroeger says in a statement. “When Google approached us with the idea about marrying the song with Google Photos we felt like it would be a fun and nostalgic way to give the song a lyrical refresh and share some of our favorite memories.”

Unfortunately, the updated version of “Photograph” still doesn’t answer the question of what the hell is on Joey’s head.

Nickelback also looked back on “Photograph” this year for a 15th anniversary All the Right Reasons reissue, which was released over the fall. They also planned an All the Right Reasons anniversary tour to mark the milestone, but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
