If you ever wondered what Purple Rain would be like if it took place amid the New York hardcore scene, then Randy Blythe is here to make that dream come true.

The Lamb of God frontman lends his growl to a collaborative cover of the Prince classic “I Would Die 4 U,” turning the Purple Rain single into a quintessential NYHC ripper.

The cover was recorded for the Two Minutes to Late Night metal-themed web show, hosted by the face-painted Gwarsenio Hall. It also features members of the bands Gorilla Biscuits, Harm’s Way and The Armed, among many others.

You can watch the “I Would Die 4 U” cover streaming now on YouTube.

Previous Two Minutes to Late Night covers include Halestorm‘s Lzzy Hale singing Pantera‘s “Mouth for War,” and an all-star prog lineup of Tool‘s Danny Carey, PrimusLes Claypool, Coheed and Cambria‘s Claudio Sanchez and Mastodon‘s Bill Kelliher taking on Rush‘s “Anthem.”
