Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci is launching his own signature bourbon brand.

The 120-proof whiskey is dubbed Rock the Barrel, and was created in collaboration with the Iron Smoke Distillery in Fairport, New York. It’s described as bridging “strength and smoothness with a whisper of apple wood smoke sweetness.”

“As soon as I tasted Iron Smoke’s Cask Strength, I knew I wanted to partner with this distillery,” Petrucci says.

“I take a craftsmanship approach with everything I do — whether it’s my guitar playing or the people I surround myself with,” he adds. “I care about details and caring to the fullest is what makes something great. Iron Smoke takes the same approach and that is why we forged what we consider the perfect relationship.”

Rock the Barrel will be available to order starting May 3 at noon ET via IronSmokeDistillery.com.

Dream Theater’s most recent album is 2019’s Distance Over Time. Petrucci’s side project, Liquid Tension Experiment, which also features Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess and former drummer Mike Portnoy, just released a new album, LTE3, last month.
