The Columbus, Ohio, club where Pantera guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott was murdered in 2004 is getting a second life.
According to ABC affiliate WSYX, the site of the Alrosa Villa venue is being turned into affordable housing. The Columbus City Council voted to approve funds for the project Monday night.
Abbott had been playing with his band Damageplan on the night of December 8, 2004, when a man stormed the stage and shot him to death. Three other people were also killed, along with the gunman.
WSYX reports that construction for the new apartments is set to begin this October and be finished by early 2023.
