Bobby Eaton, a pro wrestling star, died Wednesday of unknown causes. He was 62 years old. Eaton’s sister, Debbie Eaton Lewis, posted (link) news of his death to Facebook. He was hospitalized after a bad fall in July, but it is unknown whether that event had anything to do with his death. He was known as “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton. He wrestled for the National Wrestling Alliance.  Very respected. One fellow wrestler called him an absolute master of the craft of professional wrestling.  And told young wrestlers to go watch his stuff and learn.

The creators of “South Park” . . . TREY PARKER and MATT STONE . . . just signed a new $900 MILLION deal to continue the show. The deal covers SIX more years, up through a 30th season in 2027 . . . plus FOURTEEEN “South Park” movies.  Those won’t go to theaters, they’ll be exclusive to the Paramount+ streaming service. The movies will be slightly different than the show because they’ll probably center on minor characters . . . or new ones . . . to “expand on the existing world” of “South Park”.

Britney Spears just had a groundbreaking day (link).  She got her first iPad. Also someone is coming in to audit Britney’s Dad to see just how much he has messed up. Such as a $500,000 payment to Britney’s former business manager, Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group. Tri Star had been getting a 5% percent commission on Britney’s gross entertainment-related income, and when she was performing the company was getting a bundle because Britney was making an enormous amount of money. When Britney went on hiatus (link) in 2019, their cut dropped to about to around $200,000 a year. A rep from the company sent Jamie an email asking to raise the minimum to $500,000, and Jamie approved it (link). Also Jamie’s request for more than $1.3 million in attorney’s fees, which included $541,000 for “media matters.” The best one is Jamie paying himself $16,000 a month, which is $2K more than Britney herself got.

Aaron Carter will be starring in the upcoming Las Vegas production of Naked Boys Singing and he has confirmed that he will strip down completely every night. The 60-minute musical revue features an all-male cast performing in their birthday suits. “I think the naked body is a beautiful thing,” Aaron told Variety. “We were all born naked. I love doing OnlyFans. I’ve been an OnlyFans model for over a year now, and people are very uplifting. They make you feel attractive and good about yourself. I love that social media platform more than any other platform. It’s not about the money. It’s about the fans.” Aaron will appear in the show from September 8 through November 28. Tickets are on sale now!

It’s the untold story of Bob Ross (link) — the famously serene art instructor and host of PBS staple The Joy of Painting –and the “battle for his business empire [that] cast a shadow over his happy trees.” “Beyond the iconic hair, soothing voice and nostalgic paintings lies a mystery that many have yet to discover.”  No official trailer for the doc, it’s set to premiere August 25th, with Melissa McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone among the film’s producers.

Guy Fieri spent $30K on pigs during an auction near his hometown of Santa Rosa, California. He got a letter from a student that belonged to a local branch of the Future Farmers of America asking him to stop by the livestock auction at the Sonoma County Fair, so he did. So he and some friends  placed the winning bid on 16 different pigs, which included a single pig that ran him a cool $10 grand. All the hogs will all be donated to charity. And remember he also quietly raised over $20 million for restaurant workers during the pandemic.

The executive producer of “Stranger Things”, Shawn Levy, revealed in an interview that the end for the series is “in sight.”  He didn’t say when exactly . . . but Season Four is done, and it hasn’t been mentioned as a final season.  There’s no word when Season Four will hit Netflix, however Shawn said we can expect an announcement soon. But don’t worry, there is a possibility the “Stranger Things” universe could continue to live on since it’s such a huge property for Netflix. Shawn said, quote, “What’s been made clear is there is an interest and a real voracious appetite for any offshoot of the franchise, the characters, the mythology . . . certainly those conversations are hardly evolved, but they’re also not non-existent.”

54 million records sold worldwide. 16 singles in the top 40 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and 8 in the top 10.Fans are calling on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to place STYX on the ballot for induction consideration.  They’ve been eligible for over 20 years and have never been nominated. Which is pretty wild, considering Styx has been around since 1972, and have multiple hits like “Come Sail Away” and “Renegade”. One of the petition organizers said, quote, “We created our online petition to demonstrate to the Hall that fans want to see them receive this recognition . . . Our hopes are that [they] will recognize this and at the very least put Styx on a ballot for inclusion.” There’s already over 2,600 signatures.  If you’re interested in signing it, head to Change.org (link).

Rage Against the Machine (link) guitarist Tom Morello (link) has released a cover of AC/DC (link)‘s “Highway to Hell” featuring Bruce Springsteen (link) and Eddie Vedder (link).  It’s a new solo album, The Atlas Underground Fire, which is due for release on Oct. 15.

Sports Report 1

The Cardinals bullpen is awful.  I said it.  Yesterday, trying to avoid the sweep from the Braves, starting pitching and offense were pretty present.  Andrew Knizner hit a homer…the Cards led for a while…things were looking OK.  The Braves had a six-run top of the eighth inning and a eventually picked up an 8-4 win and a series sweep. Closer Alex Reyes threw 21 pitches and only 4 of them were strikes.  After his first walk loaded the bases, Reyes added three bases-loaded walks to that, while his replacement, Justin Miller, added a fourth.  The Braves swung at just a single pitch. It was his first one, which Adam Duvall fouled off.  Tonight the Cardinals start a series with the Royals.  Adam Wainwright gets the start – first pitch is scheduled for 7:15PM.

The NFL season is officially underway.  As the first pre-season game of the year went down last night in Ohio.  No, not the Browns or Bengals played, but the Hall of Fame game between the Cowboys and the Steelers went down and – as expected – none of the big names got in on the action.  However- the Steelers picked up the 16-3 win.  All other squads get started next week with the Thursday night double header has the Washington Football Team taking on the Patriots and the Steelers playing the Eagles.

This sports news to the world is like LeBron or Brady changing team to us.  One of the best soccer players on the planet, Lionel Messi, is not renewing his deal with Barcelona. Clubs in Spain have had their salary cap cut tremendously.  In a statement, FC Barcelona said, “Despite having reached an agreement with Messi and with both parties clearly wanting to sign a new contract, it cannot be finalized due to financial and structural problems [rules relating to the Spanish league]. There are sources who said that Messi was not pleased with the team’s direction, and that led to his departure.  All eyes are on where he will go next. Some believe Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are in play.

Chinese 14-year-old Quan Hongchan had arguably the greatest diving display in Olympic history in the women’s platform final, scoring 10s on every dive, including a TWO PERFECT 10s, which has never happened in a final. Those two dives drew 10s from ALL seven judges.  She also had a third dive that got 10s from six judges . . . and since the highest and lowest scores are thrown out, it was effectively a THIRD perfect 10.  Quan wouldn’t have been old enough to compete if the Olympics were held last year, as expected.  After winning gold, she said she wanted to win so she could help her mother, who’s ill, pay for medical treatment.

Speaking of China:  Just a little reminder that the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics start in less than SIX MONTHS.  Obviously the quicker turnaround is because these Summer Games were postponed a year.

The U.S. Olympic team picked up a bunch of medals yesterday to extend our lead in the overall count.  That includes golds in women’s pole vault and men’s wrestling. April Ross and Alix Klineman won gold in women’s beach volleyball.  April now has a beach volleyball medal in every color: silver from London, bronze from Rio de Janeiro, and gold at the Tokyo Games.  It was her partner Alix’s first Olympics. We also snagged a bunch of silver and bronze medals, including a third-place finish for the women’s soccer team. So it’s looking like we SHOULD win the overall medal count now.  But the big story this weekend will be if the U.S. can close the gap on China and win the most golds too.  The Olympics end this Sunday.

Here’s the latest medal count.

  1. USA:  92. . . 30 gold, 35 silver, 27 bronze.
  2. China:  74. . . 34 gold, 24 silver, 16 bronze.
  3. Russia:  60. . . 16 gold, 23 silver, 21 bronze.
  4. Great Britain:  52. . . 16 gold, 18 silver, 18 bronze.
  5. Japan:  47. . . 22 gold, 10 silver, 15 bronze.
