Morbius with Jared Leto opened in first place at the box office, though ticket sales were considerably softer than recent superhero blockbusters. The film’s worldwide start is standing at $84M. It cost a reported $75 million to make before marketing. Reviews of Morbius haven’t been great which may not have helped box office numbers.

ESTELLE HARRIS died Saturday of natural causes.  She was 93 years old.  She was close to her 94th birthday, but there’s some confusion as to HOW close. Some sources claim her birthday was April 22nd, and others say it was TODAY.  Even two major outlets, Wikipedia and the Internet Movie Database, are split. Anyway . . . Estelle is best known for two major gigs:  Playing George Costanza’s mom on “Seinfeld” and being the voice of Mrs. Potato Head in the “Toy Story” movies. She was also Muriel the maid on Disney’s “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”. Estelle didn’t start acting until later in life.  Her first screen credit was in a 1977 movie called “Looking Up”, when she was almost 50 (LINK)

Outlaw country singer C.W. MCCALL has passed away.  He was 93.  C.W.’s biggest hit is the ’70s classic “Convoy” (LINK)

The Grammys were last night. There were a couple references to that Oscar stuff. Here is host TREVOR NOAH opening the show  QUESTLOVE also brought it up.  Remember, Quest was the guy receiving the award that CHRIS ROCK gave out when he got slapped. Well, he was a presenter last night. Ukrainian president ZELENSKY wasn’t there but sent a video As for the awards themselves, JON BATISTE won Album of the Year for “We Are” . . . and SILK SONIC won Song of the Year AND Record of the Year for “Leave the Door Open”. OLIVIA RODRIGO won Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance. The FOO FIGHTERS picked up Grammys for Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Album, and Best Rock Song. LOUIS C.K. even got a Grammy . . . for Best Comedy Album. Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album:  “Love for Sale”,  Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga Best Alternative Music Album:  “Daddy’s Home”,  St. Vincent (LINK)

The in memoriam section did a nice piece on Foo Fighter’s drummer Taylor Hawkins who passed recently. The forgotten ones this year are Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, Megaforce Records founder Jon Zazula and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer Graeme Edge of the Moody Blues. Jordison was even a six-time nominee with Slipknot and also won a Best Metal Performance Grammy for their song “Before I Forget”. Zazula broke Metallica. Edge was not only a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, but also an inductee into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Other rock artists left out of the In Memoriam segment included rock photographer Mick Rock, King Crimson and Foreigner musician Ian McDonald and Skid Row vocalist Johnny Solinger.

KANYE may have been disinvited to the Grammy’s , but he still picked up the award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for “Hurricane”.  Late last week, we heard that he might be “going away” to seek mental health treatment and would stop bothering Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson.  According to his people, Ye is not going anywhere for any treatment. Kanye’s Head of Media and Partnerships, Jason Lee, said, “Ye monitors all headlines pertaining to him and his family daily. Most all are being fed to media by ‘sources close to the Kardashians,’ which have been creating a false narrative that not only is untrue but further compromises his goal of creating a healthy environment for the beautiful children he shares with Kim.”

WILL SMITH might be facing some real-world consequences for his actions.  It looks like some upcoming projects he was working on have been put on the back burner. Will was supposed to do a movie for Netflix called “Fast and Loose” . . . but it just got shelved . . . at least for now.  That also seems to be the case for “Bad Boys 4”. Will already filmed a movie called “Emancipation” for Apple, and it’s in post-production.  It’s supposed to come out sometime this year, but there’s no release date.  Apple hasn’t responded to questions about its status. On Friday, Will officially resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which he may very well have done to avoid being KICKED OUT. He called his actions at the Oscars, quote, “shocking, painful, and inexcusable.”  He also apologized CHRIS ROCK again, along with Chris’ family, his own friends and loved ones, and everyone in attendance and watching the show from home.

JIM CARREY is retiring . . . well, probably.  He sat down for an interview with “Access Hollywood” to promote “Sonic the Hedgehog 2”, which comes out Friday. And he said (LINK)

Bruce Willis also retiring due to the onset and progression of aphasia. He has spent a number of years selling nearly $65 million worth of luxury properties. You are throwing a #BruceWillis film festival. You may select FIVE movies. NONE of them can be a DIE HARD movie. What do you select? (LINK)

Here’s something you’ve heard before:  “The Crow” is getting a reboot.  Except this time it’s actually going to happen. Which you’ve also probably heard before.BRANDON LEE played the main character Eric Draven in the original, and died tragically during filming due to a prop gun mishap.  It came out in 1994. BILL SKARSGARD will be the new Eric.  You’d know him as Pennywise from the “It” movies. The reboot even has a director already . . . the guy who did “Snow White and the Huntsman” and “Ghost in the Shell”.  It’s going to start production in June. There were actually three sequels to the original “Crow”, between 1996 and 2005.  There was also a Canadian TV series in 1998 (LINK)

Sports Report 1

The Blues had back to back games over the weekend up in Canada.  First, on Friday, they took the Oilers to OT but ended up falling short 6-5.   Then on Saturday, the Blues picked up a big 6-4 against the Flames.  Tonight they are back at Enterprise Center as they take on the Coyotes.  Puck drop tonight is scheduled for 7PM.

At 40 years old, Adam Wainwright enters his 18th and potentially final season, he got some cool news.  He was named Thursday’s Opening Day assignment at Busch Stadium against the Pirates. It’s his 7th HOME opener start.

Also news from the Cardinals — The Cardinals and Harrison Bader have agreed to a two-year extension. The contract, which guarantees Bader slightly more than $10 million, allows the club to avoid an arbitration hearing. After the deal was signed – that left Tyler O’Neill as the only Cardinal headed toward an arbitration hearing, though the club and their left fielder have continued to discuss a multi-year extension.

Tiger Woods is taking his participation in this week’s Masters down to the wire. On Sunday, Woods tweeted, “I will be heading up to Augusta today to continue my preparation and practice. It will be a game-time decision on whether I compete.” Woods will be on hand as a five-time Masters champion, but he is still recovering from a severe car accident last year where he sustained fractures in his tibia and fibula as well as other injuries.   In February, Woods told The Golf Channel that he had a “long way to go” with his recovery. He continued, I wish I could tell you when I’m playing again. I want to know, but I don’t. My golf activity has been very limited. I can chip and putt really well and hit short irons very well, but I haven’t done any long stuff seriously. I’m still working.” Tiger competed with his son Charlie late last year and finished second in the PNC tournament.

Former U.S. women’s national team star Hope Solo tweeted a statement on Saturday, two days after her arrest in Winston-Salem, N.C. “For those who have reached out showing love and support, thank you. Our family is strong and surrounded with love. Our kids are strong, intelligent, happy and vibrant, and we are present everyday giving them the best life possible… “  Oddly enough, Solo didn’t address ANYTHING that actually happened during or leading up to her arrest.  If you are in the dark —  Hope is currently facing multiple charges that include DWI, resisting arrest and misdemeanor child abuse. Solo was given a misdemeanor child abuse charge after officers saw her two children were in the car at the time of the offense.

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin won the 2022 Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway on Sunday for his first win of the season. Kevin Harvick, William Byron, Martin Truex Jr and Kyle Larson rounded out the Top 5.

Last night on the basketball court we saw South Carolina beat UCONN for the women’s National Championship.  It was a dominate performance from South Carolina the entire game.  The final was 64-49.  Also – just as a little fun fact, South Carolina finished the year 35-2.  They lost to Kentucky 64-62 at the end of the year….And also lost to MIZZOU back in December.  Just a neato fun fact.

Tonight, we will get a winner in the Men’s NCAA Tournament.  Over the weekend DUKE and Coach K’s run finally came to an end.  They were beat by North Carolina who now takes on Kansas in the National Championship game tonight.  The Jayhawks beat Villanova for their way to the final.

And finally — The business side of baseball can be a lot of things. In terms of trading a fan-favorite, like the Texas Rangers did by trading Jose Trevino on Saturday, it can be painful for both the club and the player. For Robert Ahlstrom, one of two pitchers acquired in the trade, it was surprising. While the Rangers gave Trevino the honor of an in-person meeting—including a face to face with the president of baseball operations, the general manager, and the manager—to inform him of the trade, Ahlstrom found out on social media.A New York Yankees fan page on Instagram called “Yankees Source” commented Saturday on a March 21 post from Ahlstrom, saying, “Good luck in Texas … gonna miss u.” Ahlstrom responded, “wait what?” The fan page then informed him of the trade, which warranted another confusing response from Ahlstrom: “I did?” Wild.
