Chris Evans has been named “People” magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2022.  Stephen Colbert made the announcement last night on “The Late Show”. Chris wasn’t on the show, because he was busy filming the Netflix movie “Red One”.  But they did send a video of his co-star The Rock presenting him with the honor. Chris told “People”, quote, “My mom will be so happy.  She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about.” He added, quote, “This whole thing is tough to be interviewed about.  It feels like a weird form of humble bragging.  Really this will just be a point of bullying [from friends].  It’s ripe for harassment.” But at least he’ll always have this, even when he’s not so sexy anymore.  Quote, “It’s something that as I become old and saggy I can look back on and say ‘I remember then.’  I’m lucky to be in the discussion in any capacity.”

Remember when Sylvester Stallone and his wife Jennifer almost got divorced?  Well, Stallone admits he put work ahead of his family.  But he adds, quote, “That is a tragic mistake which won’t happen again.” One way he’s correcting that mistake is by doing one of those Kardashian-style family reality shows. In a new profile in the “Hollywood Reporter”, he says, quote, “I thought it would be the ultimate home movie.  This is a chance where I’m going to be with my kids under a work condition where they get to see me in action and I get to see them in action.  What you will see is the real truth.  This is a great opportunity.” But Stallone admits he’s been, quote, “taking a lot of [crap]” from people for doing the show. In the article, Sly also talks about being shut out of the “Rocky” franchise and not being in “Creed 3”, his friendship with Arnold Schwarzenegger, turning down $34 million in the ’80s to make “Rambo 4” . . . Learning to find the humor in his many Razzie nominations, his regret over passing on “Witness”, his very short dalliance with drugs, and “Get Carter”being his most underrated movie.

It looks like huffing may have led to Aaron Carter drowning in his bathtub.  According to TMZ, multiple cans of compressed air were found in his bathroom and bedroom, along with prescription pills. The last time anyone saw Aaron alive was 2:00 a.m. Friday, when police showed up for a welfare check.  Aaron’s live-in housekeeper answered the door, and when Aaron found out they were there, he told them to leave and told the housekeeper not to bother him. She didn’t see Aaron all day Friday.  And she’s the one who discovered his body Saturday morning at around 11:00 a.m., when she went into his room to see if he wanted coffee. Police say there were signs of decomposition, so he’d probably been dead for a while. was in and out of rehab therapy sessions up until his death, and we’re told his last scheduled appointment — which he missed — was supposed to happen Friday night. We’re told Aaron agreed to go through the program, with the idea that it would go a long way in helping him regain some custody of their son, Prince — who’s currently under the care of Melanie’s mom. Keep in mind, it’s possible — if not likely — Aaron missed that appointment because he’d already died. 

Netflix is bringing back these popular shows for another installment. After the record-breaking success of DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Ryan Murphy & Ian Brennan will create two more installments that will each focus on “other monstrous figures who have impacted society,” per Netflix.  Monster proved to be a massive success, debuting atop both the Netflix and Nielsen streaming charts. It was also the number one show on the Nielsen chart for three straight weeks. According to Netflix, it is the streamer’s second most popular English TV season ever. A second season of The Watcher has also been given the greenlit! The Watcher is loosely based on a true story and follows a family that moves into their dream home only to begin receiving mysterious letters from someone calling themselves The Watcher.  The first season cast includes: Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Jennifer Coolidge, Mia Farrow, Margo Martindale, Terry Kinney, Joe Mantello, Richard Kind, and more.

Elon Musk is putting his plan to charge $8 a month for verified Twitter accounts on hold . . . at least for now.  Apparently, he was worried that it could cause the spread of misinformation, potentially influencing voters ahead of the midterms. Of course, once the elections are over tonight, allowing just anyone to buy a blue checkmark can STILL lead to imposter accounts and the spread of misinformation. but that seems to be okay with Elon . . . because you’ll be able to buy a verified account starting TOMORROW.  Elon’s takeover of Twitter is causing people to bail, and Whoopi Goldberg announced yesterday that she’s joining them.  Quote, “This place is a mess.  If it settles down enough and I feel more comfortable maybe I’ll come back.”

Steven Spielberg’s new movie, “The Fabelmans” is a semi-autobiographical account of his childhood.  And apparently, he got super emotional while he was making it. Seth Rogen plays a family friend in the movie, and he says, quote, “He would cry a lot, openly.  We’d show up on set and he would just see a certain piece of wardrobe or a certain piece of set dec[oration] or everyone coming together to recreate a certain thing. “I saw him cry dozens of times throughout filming the movie which was actually very beautiful and I think made everyone want to really honor what he was doing.  You saw how much it meant to him and how truthful he was being.” Gabriel LaBelle, who plays the Spielberg character, adds, quote, “Sometimes we’d all do a group hug afterward or at the end of the day.  You could feel it, it’s a really personal project.” 

Ozzfest announced the lineup for the virtual Metaverse Music Festival (LINK).  There will be performances from Ozzy Osbourne, Motorhead, Megadeth, Black Label Society, and Skid Row. As you know, Lemmy passed away in December 2015.  So it’s unclear if there will be AI technology used for Motorhead’s performance or pre-existing concert footage. Ozzy said, quote, “I’m thrilled to be bringing Ozzfest to the Metaverse.  This allows me and the other bands on the bill to reach our fans in a new innovative way.” The two stages are set in a gothic castle with a giant Ozzfest logo.  And if you own any of Ozzy’s CryptoBatz NFTs, then you get exclusive viewing access and free wearable merchandise. Alanis Morissette was supposed to be part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday night, but something made her bail at the last minute. She was going to honor Carly Simon by singing “You’re So Vain” with Olivia Rodrigo.  But after rehearsing Friday night, she bowed out. There’s no word what caused Alanis to defect, but in a post on her Instagram Story, she made it sound like she was disrespected because she’s a woman. First, she said she “adores” Carly, Olivia, and all the other women who performed Saturday night. But she added that she’s in a place in her career where she no longer has to tolerate the, quote, “overarching anti-woman sentiment” in the music industry. That sentiment, according to Alanis, includes, quote, “Condescension and disrespectfulness, reduction, dismissiveness, contract-breaching, unsupportiveness, exploitation and psychological violence (and more).” She added, quote, “I have had countless incredible experiences with production teams with all genders throughout my life.  So many, and so fun. There is nothing better than a team of diverse people coming together with one mission.  I’ll continue to show up in those environments with bells on.”

Toby Keith made a surprise appearance at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Lexington, Kentucky last Friday.  He talked to the crowd and sang a few songs including “(Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay” and I Love This Bar….  Check it out.  (It was his first live performance since his cancer diagnosis over a year ago.)

The MLS Cup 2022 final will arguably go down as the greatest game in Major League Soccer’s history. LAFC won it in a penalty shootout after a wild 3-3 finish in extra time. It’s the first MLS Cup in LAFC’s brief history since their launch in 2018.

But it only got to penalties thanks to the heroics of Wales star Gareth Bale, who hadn’t made much of an impact for the club since joining in the summer and hadn’t played a minute of action in over a month since October 2. With LAFC down to 10 men and trailing 3-2 in the dying minutes of extra time, Bale rose up to head home a 3-3 equalizer to send the match to penalties.

In the shootout, backup LAFC goalkeeper John McCarthy, a native of Philadelphia and former Union player who came in for injured LAFC starter Maxime Crepeau, emerged as the hero with two stops against his former club. It was enough to earn him MLS Cup MVP honors (LINK)

Speaking of MLS: St. Louis CITY SC acquired midfielder Jared Stroud from Austin FC in exchange for $100,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money, the club announced yesterday. Stroud played the majority of his first season of MLS games and minutes under CITY SC Head Coach Bradley Carnell when Carnell was interim Head Coach with the New York Red Bulls in 2020.

St. Louis City SC also acquired attacking midfielder Aziel Jackson from Minnesota United FC in exchange for $150,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money, the club announced yesterday. Jackson is coming off a strong 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season where he earned Best XI honors.

Liverpool is up for sale. Fenway Sports Group, which also owns the Boston Red Sox, has put the English Premiere League club up for sale, the group announced Monday. Fenway Sports Group has owned Liverpool since 2010, when it purchased the club for $476 million. It is now valued at roughly $4.46 billion.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen injured his right elbow late in Sunday’s loss to the Jets, but that didn’t take any strength off his throwing arm.

Allen’s final pass, an incompletion to wide receiver Gabe Davis, was the farthest pass thrown in the NFL in the last six seasons.

The NFL has a microchip in every football for tracking through its Next Gen Stats, and those stats showed that the pass Allen threw to Davis traveled 69.3 yards in the air. That made it the farthest distance a thrown football has traveled in an NFL game in six seasons.

The Indianapolis Colts have fired head coach Frank Reich following the team’s blowout loss to the Patriots on Sunday at Gillette Stadium … and, stunningly, have named former star offensive lineman Jeff Saturday the interim HC.

Colts owner Jim Irsay confirmed the news on his Twitter page on Monday morning … which caught most folks off-guard, considering Jeff has ZERO coaching experience in college or the pros.

His only experience came as … err, a high school coach with Hebron Christian H.S. in Georgia. His last season on the sidelines was in 2020 … where his team finished with a 3-7 record.

Reich took over the Colts in 2018 — after Josh McDaniels scorned the franchise at the last minute — leading the team to a 10-6 record that season and an 11-5 record in 2020.
