Tom Hanks doesn’t do a lot of sequels. And that’s by design. He says, quote, “A smart thing I did is I’ve never signed a contract that had a contractual obligation to a sequel. I’ve always said, ‘Guys, if there’s a reason to do it, let’s do it. But you guys can’t force me.’ “There is that natural inclination that is one of pure commerce that says, ‘Hey, you just had a hit, so do it again and you’ll have a hit.'” Tom also admitted that years after “Forrest Gump” came out, they did entertain the idea of a sequel . . . but the talks only lasted about 40 minutes.
Remember those rumors last year that Zac Efron got plastic surgery? Well, he finally addressed it in an interview with “Men’s Health“. He said he was running in the house with socks on when he slipped, hit the corner of a fountain, broke his jaw, and passed out. When he woke up his jawbone was hanging off his face. Zac said this caused his facial muscles to overwork and become enlarged around his jaw to compensate for the injury. He had to see a specialist and do physical therapy to fix it. He actually didn’t even know about the rumors until his mom told him. Quote, “If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do, I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this work.”
We all remember “The Dating Game”, right? That’s the show where a contestant would ask questions of three potential dates who were hidden from sight, and would choose one to go out with. But what if you were a contestant, and the person you chose for your date turned out to be a PSYCHO? Well, Anna Kendrick is directing and starring in a movie about that. And it will also be called “The Dating Game”. The thing is, it’s based on a true story. In 1978, a woman named Cheryl Bradshaw appeared on the show. And she chose a guy named Rodney Alcala. Well, Rodney turned out to be a SERIAL KILLER. And Cheryl somehow sensed something wasn’t right, because she refused to go on the date with him . . . which was obviously the right choice. It sounds like they DO go out in the movie, because the description says, quote, “Bradshaw’s fairy-tale date takes a terrifying turn when the bachelor drops his charming façade to reveal the truth: Alcala is in fact a psychopathic serial killer.”
Guy Fieri has a special “rite of passage” for his sons when they get their driver’s license to ensure they become responsible and self-sufficient. Recently, his 16-year-old son Ryder started driving so he got his grandparents’ old minivan. And back when his now 26-year-old son Hunter got his license, he had to drive his grandpa’s 1996 truck with no working windows. Guy’s reasoning is simple. quote, “Show me that you can spend a year driving the car, not getting any dents, not getting any wrecks, not getting any tickets. Then you can take your own money out of the bank and go buy a car.” Hunter said he appreciates his dad’s decision. Quote, “He’s a great teacher and father and leads by example. [He] teaches you discipline, hard work, and to not give up, and that not everyone’s going to hold your hand through life.”
Jason Momoa has a new look and a call to action. The Aquaman actor chopped off his signature long locks over the weekend for a new buzz cut, sharing the moment on Instagram. Momoa urges fans to ditch plastic water bottles in favor of canteens or aluminum alternatives.
Here are some names you haven’t heard in a minute: Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po. But you’ll be hearing them again soon, because Netflix is coming out with a reboot of “Teletubbies”. It premieres November 14th. And Titus Burgess from “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” is the narrator. The original British series aired from 1997 to 2001, then was revived from 2015 to 2018.
Bam Margera bounced early from substance abuse treatment and hit up a tavern … and he’s no longer speaking to his parents. TMZ obtained video showing Bam leaving a bar in Florida with a mystery woman. We’re told Bam was there until about 1 AM Monday, and it looks like he needed help walking out the front door. Sources close to Bam say he left treatment Sunday and has been telling friends and family he met a new lawyer friend in rehab who told Bam he could help him get out of his court-ordered rehab by leaving the state. Bam is shacking up at a family friend’s house in Florida … but as of last week, he’s no longer speaking to his mother and father. He also has not heard from (LINK) his estranged wife Nikki or seen his son Phoenix since he returned to rehab at the end of June. Once this treatment center reports Bam missing — likely in the next few days — police and an intervention team will search for him, with the ultimate goal of getting him back to rehab. They are hoping they can get him back into treatment on his own.
After last releasing Feed the Machine in 2017, Nickelback (LINK) just announced their new album, Get Rollin’, which will be released in November later this year. Along with this news was a music video for the opening track, “San Quentin,” and it’s a heavy one. Toward the end of August, the band shared an audio teaser of a new song and it sounded shockingly heavy and even had a bit of a metalcore twinge to it. We now know that it represents only the first few seconds of the song but still…pretty cool.
Here’s how you can tell the end is near: Eminem just scored a #1 hit . . . on the Hot Christian Songs chart. It’s not technically HIS song, which makes it a little easier to swallow. It’s the DJ Khaled track “Use This Gospel (Remix)”. . . which he’s on with Kanye West.
Justin Bieber postponed his Justice Tour for a second time because he hasn’t fully recovered from Ramsay-Hunt Syndrome. He postponed it earlier this year when the condition caused paralysis on one side of his face. He re-started the tour when he thought he was well enough. But it looks like he’s changed his mind after performing at Brazil’s Rock in Rio festival last weekend. Justin posted on social media yesterday, quote, “After getting off stage, the exhaustion overtook me and I realized that I need to make my health the priority right now. So I’m going to take a break from touring for the time being . . .I’m going to be ok, but I need time to rest and get better. I’ve been so proud to bring this show and our message of Justice to the world. Thank you for your prayers and support throughout all of this! I love you all passionately!” He hasn’t announced the rescheduled dates yet, but at least his face seems to still be working.
After a year-long delay, AC/DC front man Brian Johnson is finally releasing his autobiography, ‘The Lives of Brian’ on October 13th. No reason was ever given for the memoir’s delay. ‘The Lives of Brian’ covers Johnson’s early years in County Durham through his return to the band with AC/DC’s 2020 album, ‘Power Up’.

Goldschmidt started things off last night for the Cards with a solo shot. Then the Cardinals could barely get anything done for about 8 innings. Then a bunch of Cardinals misplays and St. Louis native and former Cardinal Luke Voit’s 424-foot smash came in the middle of a four-run rally, pushed the Nats to their 5-1 lead… 9th inning time…The first three Cardinals of the ninth reached base, and Nolan Arenado’s RBI double down the right-field line doubled the Cardinals’ runs and brought the tying runner to the plate with no outs. Tyler O’Neill worked a key walk that kept the inning in motion. That spark proved worth the wait. The rally was kept alive by Yadier Molina’s RBI single with two runs that put the tying run at second base and the go-ahead run at first. Rookie Ben DeLuzio replaced Molina at first and sped home on Edman’s double for the Cardinals’ seventh walk-off win of the season. Here’s the call from Danny and how it sounded from Polo and Bengie. Cards win 6-5. Cards play the nationals again at Busch stadium TODAY with a little day ball at 1215.
As noted by TMZ Sports, the Washington Nationals (LINK) were celebrating Youth Champions Day for last Thursday’s home game against the Oakland Athletics and invited the Shenandoah Rec League Babe Ruth 10U All-Star Softball squad to Nationals Park for the occasion. At one point during the contest, Washington outfielder Joey Meneses tossed a baseball toward a 10-year-old girl who was ready to grab the souvenir before a grown man caught it and then refused to hand it over: Regina Hilliard, the girl’s mother, tweeted a video of the incident and asked the Nationals if Meneses could send a signed baseball to make things right. It took some time and the clip going viral, but the club eventually responded: Hilliard has since confirmed that the Nationals are sending a gift to the family to make up for the man’s actions: The nationals have been garbage so this is the first good news for them in a while.
A weird text hit the phone of Les Snead from the LA RAMS office. The sender claimed to be Bobby Wagner. A six-time All-Pro linebacker recently released by the Seattle Seahawks, Wagner told Snead that he was representing himself as his own agent in his search of a new team. If Snead was interested, here was his contact information. “I think he signed off as Bwagz,” Snead said, “and I’m like, ‘OK, is this real?’ ” Snead was not alone. Wagner sent the message to general managers and executives throughout the NFL. “Everybody thought it was a fake,” Wagner said. But it was definitely him, repping himself looking for a gig. And though Wagner initially did not fit into their plans — on the field or financially — the defending Super Bowl champions (LINK) gladly found room for a guy that has won a Super Bowl title with the Seahawks and might be on track to the Hall of Fame. Now Wagner is determined to help the team become the first in nearly two decades to repeat as Super Bowl champion … while showing that he still has plenty to offer (LINK)
The NFL season kicks off tonight with the defending Super Bowl champs the L.A. Rams taking on the Buffalo Bills. So who, exactly, is America’s favorite team?
Well, there’s no runaway winner, but according to a poll of 1,000 adults, it’s the Dallas Cowboys, with just 9% of the vote.
The Chicago Bears were a close second at 8%. The Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers tied for third with 6%.
Then the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Giants each got 5%.
The Brady Factor didn’t help the Tampa Bay Buccaneers get higher than 3% . . . which ranked them lower than Brady’s old team, the New England Patriots, who got 4%.
Bringing up the rear were the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans, who each got 0%.
In other poll results:
Only 21% of Americans say they’re Very Interested in the NFL . . . with 17% saying they’re Somewhat Interested, and 19% saying they’re A Little Bit Interested. 43% say they’re not interested AT ALL.
42% of Americans say they’ll watch games this season, while 45% won’t. The remaining 13% of us aren’t sure.
Only 10% plan on ATTENDING a game this season, while 77% don’t (LINK)
The Ty Cobb T206 is the “holy grail” for collectors, but for as much as the card is worth (up to millions), about 50 reportedly exist … now, if you’re looking for something truly unique, there’s another piece of memorabilia that recently hit the auction block — Ty Cobb’s freakin’ dentures … his actual false teeth. SCP Auctions (LINK) currently has Cobb’s chompers — top and bottom — on the block, along with the “original plaster denture holder and brass opening device.” After Cobb’s death in 1961, the teeth were preserved. Ty’s biographer, Al Stump, held the teeth for years before unloading them at Sotheby’s in 1999 … to the current consignor, who held the dentures for over 22 years. In 1909 he won the Triple Crown, the A.L. MVP in 1911, and was a 12x batting champion. Cobb averaged .366 and had 4,191 hits over his 24-season career. Cobb was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936. Speaking of Cooperstown, in June 2001, these teeth went on display (LINK) at The Hall … where fans were able to view the one-of-a-kind item. The auction, which ends Friday, already has a nearly $10K bid (there have been 7 total bids).
When it comes to the ongoing feud between the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf Invitational, Jon Rahm (LINK) has made it clear which side of the aisle he is on without saying too much.
But the Spaniard really aired out his grievances at this week’s BMW PGA Championship — the premier event for the DP World Tour, aka the European Tour — when he called out LIV Golf players who got a spot on the field despite not giving the DP World Tour much support in the past.
“There are many players that have been key for European Tour golf and the Ryder Cup that have a lot of collective years on the European Tour,” Rahm told The Guardian. “Them coming, I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing. What I don’t understand is some players that have never shown any interest in the European Tour, have never shown any interest in playing this event, being given an opportunity just because they can get world ranking points and hopefully make majors next year.” The structure of the LIV Golf season — fewer events with smaller fields and no cuts — has made its golfers ineligible for FedEx Cup world rankings. Rahm has vocally agreed in the past that the new league should not qualify for world rankings (LINK) so it’s really no big surprise that he is not a fan of LIV Golfers being able to participate in a big event like the BMW PGA Championship.
The BMW PGA Championship tees off Thursday at Wentworth Club in England.
