After nearly 20 years, Jimmy Kimmel may be leaving late-night TV. His contract with ABC ends in 2023, told Variety ” I have moments where I go, ‘what am I gonna do with my life if I’m not doing this anymore?’ It’s a very complicated thing.” He said he’ll eventually have to leave the small screen, adding “I’m not going to do this forever. I would not be honest at all if I said that I have decided one way or the other. I’m thinking about it a lot, though.”
Bon Jovi confirmed Sunday that original bassist Alec John Such died at 70 but no other details were revealed. Such left the band in 1994, marking the first major departure from Bon Jovi. Such was with Bon Jovi when the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2018.
Ann Turner Cook, who became the original Gerber baby nearly a century ago, has passed at 95. Cook was only 5 months old in 1928 when her mother’s neighbor drew a charcoal sketch and submitted it to Gerber’s baby food marketing contest. Gerber said “judges fell in love” with Cook’s angelic face, which, looking at a recent picture of her, kept right until her passing.
While at the Hay Festival, Jimmy Page told the crowd that he was approached about doing a Led Zeppelin hologram concert. He said the idea “didn’t really get moving” because he and his bandmates, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones, couldn’t agree on it While he suggested that he thought a Led Zeppelin virtual tour “could work” Page was critical of so much technology used in the music industry, saying music videos “shut down” many bands. Page did add that he appreciates the tech that has allowed so many to create home studios to put their music on the internet.
Original Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony says an Eddie Van Halen tribute “hinges on” drummer Alex Van Halen. Anthony said, “I spoke with him and Dave Lee Roth last year about a possible something… and we basically just had kind of a conference call about having a conference call to discuss it, and then that other call didn’t happen for whatever reason on their end.” He added that the project wouldn’t be a tour but rather a “memorial at a venue.” Anthony said the memorial depends on Alex, explaining “He’s gotta be the person, really, that wants to do this and give his blessing to the whole thing for it to move forward… He’s still healing. And if it gets to that point, I’m sure Alex will be the first one that’ll wanna do something like that.” The bassist asks all of us to keep our expectations low, because “At this point, I’ve gotta tell you, I don’t know if anything will ever happen. Alex is — he’s really hurting.”
MARIAH CAREY’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is almost 30 years old so its about time someone got around to suing her over it. His name is Andy Stone . . . although he’s better known as Vince Vance from everyone’s favorite country-pop band Vince Vance and the Valiants. The group released a song called “All I Want for Christmas Is You” back in 1989, five years before Mariah did it. Now, there’s nothing similar in the lyrics or the melody of the two songs. But Stone feels that Mariah’s song exploited his “popularity and unique style,” and caused confusion with his track. He also notes that his version received “extensive airplay” during the 1993 Christmas season. I guess he’s suggesting that Mariah’s version crushed his when it came out the following year. He’s seeking at least $20 million in damages (LINK)

Last night it took some extra baseball – but after 11 innings the Cardinals picked up the 5 to 3 win against the Cubs. Juan Yepez hit a go-ahead single in the 11th to give the Cards the 4-3 win and an insurance run was added to give them the 5-3 lead and the win. Cards are now in Tampa for a game against the Rays. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 tomorrow….Dakota Hudson gets the start.
Down five in the ninth inning to the Mets, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts didn’t want to waste any more of his relievers, so he sent outfielder Zach McKinstry in to pitch. However, that is not allowed. By rule, a team must be down by at least six runs to use a position player as a pitcher. Mets manager Buck Showalter caught it before he threw a pitch, and after checking with the replay review center, the umpires forced Roberts to bring in a regular pitcher. MLB instituted this rule before the 2020 season as a way to avoid teams giving up on games that were still somewhat in reach. More teams have been willing to use position players as pitchers while bullpens have been both deeper and used more frequently to fight shorter starts.
We could have a first team punch their way to the Stanley Cup Final tonight as the Avs look to knock out the Oilers. Colorado is up 3-0 in that series and Game 4 is tonight. Puck drop is at 7PM. Last night the Lightning scored with just under a minute left to cut the Rangers series lead in half. With the Rangers up 2-1 the series is in Tampa tomorrow night at 7PM for Game 4.
So Wayne Gretzky got traded to the Kings in the 1988 offseason. That previous season, he won their 4th of 5 Stanley Cups. That jersey just sold at auction for an incredible $1.452 million. It was the most ever paid for a hockey jersey. The uniform top was worn during the controversial Game 4 of the 1988 Stanley Cup finals against the Boston Bruins. With less than four minutes to go in the second period, with the score tied at 3 and Edmonton up 3-0 in the series, the electricity at the Boston Garden went out. The game was called and replayed from the beginning two days later; the Oilers won 6-3 to clinch the Cup. In the same auction, Gretzky’s gloves from the same Stanley Cup-clinching game sold for $204,162.
Speaking of jerseys….Memorabilia of the late Kobe Bryant still commands top dollar. Over the weekend, a jersey Kobe wore during the 1997 NBA Playoffs sold for $2.73 million at auction. This wasn’t a jersey from a year Bryant and the Lakers won a championship, but the piece still commanded seven figures.
Steph Curry had himself game last night as the Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics 107-88 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Game 3 is Wednesday in Boston.
Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder – formerly once upon a time coach of Mizzou – has resigned after eight seasons in Utah. Jazz owner Ryan Smith confirmed the news of Snyder’s surprising departure. Snyder, 55, recently led Utah to a 49–33 record and trip to the postseason, which ended in six games against the Mavericks. While it’s unclear at this time where Snyder will head next, reports are he still wants to coach but to him, it just felt it was time to move on. Snyder finishes his Jazz tenure as the second-winningest coach in franchise history behind Jerry Sloan.
The US Men’s National Team played Uruguay last night and ended in a 0-0 draw. Their next match is Friday at 9PM. Now, a little down south, Argentina play Estonia yesterday and they won 5-0. Lionel Messi had himself a day. He scored … all five goals. Argentina has not lose a game in 33 games.

Nadal said that he received an injection to numb his foot for Sunday’s final. As far as if he will be playing Wimbledon? He said if the upcoming procedure he has scheduled for his foot doesn’t work, he’ll have to decide if he’s ready to undergo a major surgery. He said if his body is ready – he is ready. On the women’s side…Iga Swiatek (Shee-on-tech) picked up the championship.
