Nobody’s going to be laying the SMACKDOWN on Washington anytime soon, because The Rock has decided NOT to run for president.  At least not anytime soon.  Because he’s too busy being a dad to his two youngest daughters, 6-year-old Jasmine and 4-year-old Tiana. In an interview he said, quote, “I love our country and everyone in it.  I also love being a daddy.” He added, quote, “I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years for my first daughter’s growing up, [at] this critical age at this critical time in her life. And that’s what the presidency will do.  So my number one priority is my daughters.” The Rock’s first daughter, Simone, is 21 now.

When William Shatner returned from his Blue Origin space flight last year, he was in tears.  But apparently, there were NOT happy tears. In his new book, Shatner reveals that the trip left him with “overwhelming sadness.” He says, quote, “It was among the strongest feelings of grief I have ever encountered.  The contrast between the vicious coldness of space and the warm nurturing of Earth below filled me with overwhelming sadness. Every day, we are confronted with the knowledge of further destruction of Earth at our hands. It filled me with dread.  My trip to space was supposed to be a celebration; instead, it felt like a funeral.”  At 90 years old, Shatner became the oldest person to travel to space. His book is called “Boldly Go: Reflections on a Life of Awe and Wonder”, and it’s out now.

Speaking of space…Way back in the pre-COVID days, Tom Cruise was talking about making a movie in outer space.  And it finally looks like it might be happening. Tom is in talks with Universal to do a movie on the International Space Station . . . and it could involve his craziest stunt yet. Universal chairman Donna Langley says she hopes Tom will become, quote, “the first civilian to do a space walk outside of the space station.” There’s not much info on the plot, other than that Tom’s character will head up to the space station to, quote, “save the day.”

Marty McFly and Doc Brown are tearing up the space-time continuum again — and it’s dusty in here.  Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd reunited Saturday during a ‘Back to the Future’ panel at New York Comic Con … and when the two former costars met onstage, they greeted each other with a big hug, which got thunderous applause from the fans (VIDEO) … you see MJF out there by himself at first, taking a seat on the couch then he pops back up when Chris walks out, and wraps him up with open arms. It’s a super cool moment, and you can tell it meant a lot to both of them — especially by the way Mike went in for the embrace. Afterward, they sat down and chopped it up … reportedly going on to tell old stories about the trilogy, but particularly about Pt. 1.

There’s another Grinch film in the works, but in this project, the green guy’s heart probably won’t grow three sizes. XYZ Films is plotting a horror take on the beloved Dr. Seuss character called The Mean One. The Mean One parodies The Grinch by tweaking many of the story’s key details. Rather than Whoville, the creature lives on a mountain overlooking the town of Frazier Park. Young Cindy You-Know-Who is orphaned after the Grinch kills her parents, and 20 Christmases later, she returns to Frazier Park in search of closure only to learn that the monster’s bloodlust hasn’t faded. The Mean One will stream for free in the US beginning December 15th, though the studio has yet to reveal what platform on which it will be available.

Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for Blockbustera workplace sitcom about the last store in a once-mighty video rental empire. The preview opens with Timmy Yoon learning that “seven more Blockbusters just closed. The show has a release date of November 3rd.  Blockbuster is based on the true story of a Bend, Oregon store that hung on after the retail empire collapsed. Netflix released a documentary about that store, The Last Blockbuster (LINK)in 2020.

The official trailer for Netflix’s anticipated Addams Family series, Wednesday dropped over the weekend and there were plenty of surprises! Netflix debuted a trailer touting the upcoming dark comedy, which stars Jenna Ortega as the iconic character, and introduced comedian Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.  It also featured the franchise return of Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in the ’90s movies, playing a new character, Miss Thornhill. The 2 1/2 minute trailer introduces fans to the crazy world we will enter into when the series drops next month, revealing Uncle Fester’s arrival in a dramatic showdown with Wednesday, as the duo rides off together. Ricci’s appearance comes at the tail-end of the trailer as she introduces herself to Wednesday at Nevermore. The eight-episode drama Wednesday drops on Wednesday, Nov. 23 on Netflix.

When the “Community” movie was announced last week, Donald Glover’s name was NOT among the list of cast member who were returning.  But it sounds like it’s in the works. At New York Comic Con, creator Dan Harmon said, quote, “I think that Donald is coming, based on word of mouth, but it’s just the deal isn’t official or wasn’t official. “It would be difficult to really commit to doing this thing without Donald.  So I believe he is coming back.” As for Chevy Chase, it was already pretty much a foregone conclusion that he would NOT be back.  He burned most of his bridges with the cast and crew, to the point that his character was killed off. And Harmon said, quote, “I don’t even know if it’s legal for him to come back.  That may be out of my hands.  There may be something I signed for with an insurance company.”

“Halloween Ends” hits theaters and streaming this weekend, and if you haven’t heard by now, it IS the end of the franchise for JAMIE LEE CURTIS. At New York Comic Con this weekend, she said, quote, “You know endings are a bitch, but so is Laurie Strode.  So, I’m ready to end it, but I’m gonna miss you so much.” She also admitted that she owes everything good in her life” to “Halloween” Quote, “One of these days, hopefully not tomorrow, but I’m 64 . . . I mean, do the math, it’s not in my favor . . . sooner than later it’s gonna say three words: ‘Halloween’ actress dies.  My point is, it is the permanent ink of my life.”

The jump scare—a technique commonly used in horror movies (LINK) to illicit a surprised reaction from audiences during a particularly tense or scary scene—is often written off as a cheap trick used to prop up bad films. But when done well and with purpose, jump scares can add terror. Burger Fiction created the supercut you can see on the blog, highlighting some of the best jump scares of the past several decades. The YouTube video pieces together short clips from a mix of both horror and non-horror films. Scenes from The Exorcist III (1989), Jaws (1975), Carrie (1976), Friday the 13th (1980), and Scream (1996) made the cut, as did newer but just as effective moments from Insidious (2010) and Paranormal Activity 2 (2010).

The star-studded drama Amsterdam bombed at the box office in its debut, earning just $6.5 million.  The movie cost $80 million to produce and was met with bad reviews and minimal buzz. This weekend’s other newcomer, Lyle Lyle Crocodile also fell short of expectations with $11.5 million and landed in the No.2 spot. The animated family film is an adaptation of the popular children’s book about a reptile (who sings!) voiced by Shawn Mendes. The bright spot in the otherwise slow weekend at the box office was Paramount’s creepy thriller Smile. The film held the number one spot with an impressive $17.6 million in its second weekend in theaters.

So Kanye had a busy weekend . . . which is a bit of an understatement.  But let’s just say he begins the week with a brand new enemy:  The Jewish community.  Let’s break this down…First, Kanye got his Instagram account restricted after he posted a screenshot of a text exchange he had with Diddy, who had asked him to, quote, “stop playing these internet games.” Kanye’s response to that was, quote, “This ain’t a game.  Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.” Then Kanye returned to Twitter for the first time in almost two years.  He posted an old picture of himself with Mark Zuckerberg and said, quote, “How you gone kick me off Instagram.  You used to be my [N-word].” Elon Musk quickly greeted him by saying, quote, “Welcome back to Twitter, my friend.” cBut it didn’t take long for Kanye to ruin that reunion.  On Saturday night, he Tweeted, quote, “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE. The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”  Twitter removed that Tweet and locked him out.  but Kanye’s account is still up . . . as is a picture he posted of a black hat with “2024” on it.  Another presidential run, perhaps?

Madonna is having fun expressing herself on TikTok. The 64-year-old pop legend, who recently dyed her hair pink, shared a video of herself over the weekend participating in the “If I Miss I’m Gay” meme on the social media platform. The post comes as she’s been spotted making out with another female entertainer in recent weeks. In the video, Madonna is in the bathroom taking a pair of bright pink panties, bawling them up, and tossing them in the trash.  She misses entirely and poses for the camera before twirling away. “If I miss I’m gay,” she captioned the post.

blink-182 has fans talking now that the band has cleared out their website and Instagram account. blink’s 182 reads that it’s “under construction” and to “check back soon”. The band has started liking random Twitter posts from 2013 that hint at the band’s future a decade later in 2023. One post read “blink-182 is writing a new album! It should be released in the next 10 years or so!” The band could be hinting at a possible reunion with the three original members – Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge.  DeLonge did post an old school photo of the band over the summer while guitarist Mike Skiba was left wondering if he was still in blink-182.   Tom DeLonge did tell fans recently that if there were any news on the band it would come from their official channels.

Metallica‘s Kirk Hammett joined Journey onstage on Thursday night to play the latter’s “Wheel in the Sky” and Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” You can watch a video of the performance on the blog. The Metallica guitarist stuck to rhythm guitar during “Wheel in the Sky” …From there, they transitioned into the iconic “Enter Sandman” riff, allowing Hammett to rip a wah-drenched solo, before ending back on “Wheel in the Sky.”

Sports Report 1

And just like that the Cardinals are out. 8 ok innings and a 2 run lead had the Cardinals fans on their feet feeling great about the 9th inning of the first of the best of 3 series with the Phillies. Three days after jamming his right middle finger into the turf at PNC Park, Helsley found himself in the biggest ninth inning yet of his closing career and could not maintain a grip on his pitches. He walked two batters and hit a batter to force home a run before being removed from a game the Cardinals once led 2-0, but would lose, rapidly, 6-3.

The Cardinals are 1-9 in their last 10 playoff games, and they’ve been held to a run or less in six of those nine losses. Since the start of the 2019 National League Championship Series, the Cardinals have hit 33 for 220 (.150) in their past seven postseason games outside of 2020’s bubble.

With the final swings of their major-league careers, Molina and Albert Pujols delivered singles and then yielded first base to a pinch-runner. They were in the dugout when the Cardinals’ season unceremoniously ended in the glove of a former teammate, the Phillies’ Edmundo Sosa, securing a 2-0 victory Saturday and a sweep in the wild-card series at Busch Stadium. Careers that spanned a combined 41 seasons, 20 All-Star appearances, 12 Gold Glove awards and 5,498 games — including 194 in the postseason — ended in the blink of 18 innings.

The long goodbye had the shortest ending.

Following the final regular season game of the season, the Cardinals dug up and removed home plate from Busch Stadium so that it could be framed and presented to Yadier Molina (LINK) as a gift from Cardinals ownership. First base from the game was given to Albert Pujols, who started that game at first, the position he manned as a three-time MVP for the Cardinals in the Aughts.

A potential face of the franchise for this next era of Cardinals, Arenado enjoyed his first division title in his second year in St. Louis. He has an opt-out clause in his contract and can become a free agent in four weeks. Or, he can remain a Cardinal through at least 2026. His choice. There is the possibility of negotiating a deal that at least guarantees the club option for 2027. Arenado, 31, repeatedly has said he intends to remain with the Cardinals, that he relishes the atmosphere at the ballpark, and he affirmed that again Saturday.

Adam Wainwright, a 17-year veteran and third member of the advertised “last run,” has yet to announce whether he will return for 2023 or retire. The Cardinals are open to another one-year deal with him (LINK)

Albert Pujols plans to honor his 10-year, $10-million personal-services contract with the Angels despite owner Arte Moreno’s intentions of selling the team and the disappointing end to the slugger’s nine-plus-year tenure in Anaheim.

The team’s first-round pick in the 2017 draft (No. 31 overall) was traded to the Edmonton Oilers for defenseman Dmitri Samorukov, the Blues announced Sunday.

Klim Kostin was placed on waivers by the Blues on Friday, and after clearing waivers Saturday was assigned to the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League. But now he’s a member of the Edmonton organization. Also on Sunday, the Blues placed veteran forward Josh Leivo on waivers. He was signed in July as a free agent. All the quotes I was seeing basically said that Coach Berube didn’t see enough consistency or engagement from the guy during all preseason (LINK)

How much would you pay for a training session with Arnold himself. The Terminator, Dutch, Conan the barbarian not the talk show host, Mr. Freeze, and of course Officer John Kimble? Arnold Schwarzenegger may be the most expensive personal trainer in the land, because Sunday he worked out 2 crews that each plunked down $150,000 …

Arnold was at Gold’s Gym in Venice, which he made world-famous, and made good on a charity auction at his home Saturday night. Some dude and his fam bid the $150k to get a good pump under Arnold’s tutelage. They got pointers from The Terminator as a crowd formed to watch. Another $150k auction winner was there as well, getting fit with Arnold. The charity is called– After-School All-Stars –. Arnold created it 30 years ago to benefit school kids around the country. It provides after-school programs and exercise for 100,000 kids in 60 cities. This time around folks donated $5.2 million, of which $1.75M came from the auction. In addition to a training session, Arnold auctioned off clothes, humidors, art and a ride in his tank!!! Guests paid $50k a head to attend the event. Sylvester StalloneDanny DeVito and Dolph Lundgren, along with the costars of Arnold’s new Netflix show, “FUBAR,” all showed. And this part’s amazing … the charity just opened a school program in Uvalde, Texas, at the request of the City. It only took 45 days to get the program up and running. Congrats Arnold and co.

Draymond Green announced on Saturday that he’s stepping away from the Golden State Warriors for a few days, after video surfaced of him punching teammate Jordan Poole during a practice last week.

At a press conference, he apologized to Poole and the team, but also to Poole’s family.  Quote, “His family saw that video.  His mother, his father saw that video.  If my mother saw that video, I know how my mother would feel.”

The Warriors are investigating the altercation between Green and Poole . . . but they’re also trying to figure out how the video leaked.  (Check it out here.)

Warriors GM Bob Myers says any punishment will be handled internally, but Draymond isn’t expected to miss any games.

In addition to apologizing and taking responsibility, Draymond also complained about the video leaking . . . which he called “B.S.”

The NBA hasn’t announced plans to expand the league, and LeBron James isn’t done playing — but that hasn’t stopped the superstar from planning for both eventualities.

“I would love to bring a team here at some point,” said James at a press conference following an exhibition game in Las VegasT-Mobile Arena, home to the NHL’s Golden Knights.

Addressing NBA commissioner Adam Silver, who was not present, James said, “I want the team here, Adam,” adding the city has “the best fanbase in the world.”

James, 37, has a net worth north of $1 billion, per Forbes.
He signed a two-year, $97.1 million extension with the Los Angeles Lakers in August, making him the highest-paid player on a per-season basis in NBA history.
As a part-owner of Fenway Sports Group, James has stakes in Liverpool FC, the Boston Red Sox, Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing, and the NESN regional sports network. He is also a part-owner of AC Milan.

Silver has said the 30-team NBA “invariably will expand,” but it is not under active discussion right now. He has called Las Vegas and Seattle “wonderful markets,” and the league is playing preseason games in both cities.

A report from September claimed that the league was planning to announce expansion to the two cities at those exhibition games, but separate reports came out shortly after saying that nothing was imminent.
