Rihanna will headline the 57th Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 12th in Arizona.  She confirmed the news with a photo on Instagram of her hand holding a football. There were previous rumors about Taylor Swift being the headliner.  She was apparently asked, but turned it down because she wants to finish rerecording her first six albums first.  So far she’s done two of them: “Red” and “Fearless”.  So maybe 2024? In related Super Bowl news, Pepsi is no longer the sponsor of the halftime show.  It’s now Apple Music.

Disney+ may not be finished with Darth Vader, but James Earl Jones is.  Jones has been the voice of Vader since the original movie back in 1977, but he’s 91 years old now, and he just officially retired. He did, however, give Lucasfilm and Disney the right to digitally recreate his voice going forward, so the character can live on. Darth Vader most recently appeared on the Disney+ show “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, but his dialogue was A.I.-generated . . . with Jones’ approval, of course.

You might remember back in June, when John Cena set a record with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for fulfilling 650 wishes.  Well, he’s now being recognized by the Guinness World Records. John is listed under “Most Wishes Granted Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation”.  But if you ask me, he should’ve been given the title awhile ago.  Because no one else has even fulfilled more than 200 wishes. He’s been granting them since 2002 and is now the most requested celebrity. Back when he hit the 500 wish mark, John said, quote, “I just drop everything.  If I can offer a fantastic experience, I’ll be first in line to do my part.”

The Olivia Wilde-Florence Pugh-Harry Styles drama, Don’t Worry Darling, is the No. 1 movie in North America this weekend, earning $19.2 million. At the international box office, the film added another $10.8 million for a global tally of $30 million. Coming in at No. 2 is The Woman King with $11 million. Another bright spot on domestic box office charts: Disney’s re-release of Avatar racked up $10 million. Not bad for a movie that opened 13 years ago. Avatar is the highest-grossing global release in history. The horror film Barbarian was No. 4 with $4.8 million.

One of the greatest movie villains of all time has left us.  Louise Fletcher, who won an Oscar for playing Nurse Ratched in 1975’s “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, died Friday of natural causes.  She was 88. More recently, she played William H. Macy’s meth-dealing mother on the Showtime series “Shameless”. Her other credits included “Exorcist 2: The Heretic”“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”“Firestarter”“Flowers in the Attic”, and “Cruel Intentions”. Fletcher knew she’d nailed the part of Nurse Ratched when she watched “Cuckoo’s Nest” at a theater, and the audience went wild when Jack Nicholson’s character tried to kill her. She said, quote, “The audience stood up and yelled and cheered.  Stood up.  It was unbelievable.  I was thrilled.” Louise was the daughter of deaf parents, and she paid tribute to them during her Oscar speech.

Bam Margera‘s outpatient rehab program clearly isn’t working — because the guy was partying his face off this weekend in a whole different state. TMZ has obtained photos of Bam hanging out early Saturday morning at the Koo Koo Room in Atlanta, where we’re told he was raging with a group of strangers into the wee hours of the night. Eyewitnesses tell us Bam was seen drinking … and not just that, but he was also, apparently, name-dropping himself around the joint and drumming up interest. Anyway, this obviously flies in the face of the restructured program we were told Bam was going to attempt a couple weeks ago … this after he’d escaped his rehab facility (LINK) in Florida several times, only to surface in bars and with friends time and again. No telling what this might mean for him … we know his team was begging him to not leave Florida and to stay on track, but that’s all out the window now. Dude’s crossed state lines.

Megan Thee Stallion launched a website called Bad [B-words] Have Bad Days Too to provide her fans with mental health resources.  The name comes from a lyric in her song “Anxiety”. Megan said, quote, “Hotties!  You know how much mental wellness means to me, so I created a hub with resources that can help when you might need a hand.  Love y’all so much.” Her site has links to free therapy organizations and hotlines for suicide, crisis, and substance abuse.  There are also links to resources specifically for the black and LGBTQ communities.

It’s a girl! Congratulations are in order for Hilaria and Alec Baldwin who welcomed baby No. 7 into the world! On Instagram, the Baldwins posted an adorable video, writing, “She’s here! We are so excited to introduce you to our tiny dream come true.” In the video, Hilaria’s seen laying in a hospital bed holding her brand new daughter. They’re already parents to Carmen, 8, Rafael, 7, Leonardo, 5, Romeo, 4, and Eduardo, 1. The couple welcomed their youngest child, 1-year-old Lucia, via surrogate.

Trent Reznor reunited the original Nine Inch Nails lineup for the band’s hometown show in Cleveland on Saturday night. Former members Richard Patrick (of Filter), Chris Vrenna, Danny Lohner and Charlie Clouser took the stage towards the end of the concert to perform “Eraser,” “Wish,” “Sin,” “Gave Up” and “Head Like A Hole”. With Patrick onstage, Nine Inch Nails also performed Filter’s hit “Hey Man Nice Shot”.

Happy National Pancake Day.  Here’s something new to pour in the pan.  Snoop Dogg says he’s replacing the void left by Aunt Jemima with Momma Snoop, his new line of breakfast items.  Here he is showing off the new line.  (Pancake mix, maple syrup, and instant grits.  He added the backing track, not us.)

Stevie Nicks recorded a cover (LINK) of the 1966 Buffalo Springfield classic protest song, “For What It’s Worth”.  She’s been performing it while on tour, but just released it on streaming services.  Here’s an example. The song was originally written and sung by Stephen Stills.   Stevie’s longtime lead guitarist Waddy Wachtel plays on this new one, and background vocalist Sharon Celani is included.

Taylor Swift’s upcoming album “Midnights” will include her first song with a swear word (LINK) in the title.  Here she is, turning a bingo ball cage, to announce random tracks from the album. The song is called “Vigilante (stuff)”.

It has taken over three months to achieve, but Jurassic World: Dominion (LINK) has become only the third movie since 2019 to cross the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. The dino-centric movie is the second highest grossing movie of 2022 behind Top Gun: Maverick and follows the Tom Cruise hit into the elite billion dollar club, the 51st movie in history to do so. It was the surprising runaway success of Top Gun that came out of nowhere to be the first movie of 2022 to break the barrier, and now Jurassic World: Dominion has finally dragged itself over the line.

On Saturday…shortly before he was set to take the stage at the TD Garden in Boston, Post Malone announced that he had to cancel the show due to some health issues. “Boston, I love y’all so f–king much. Today I woke up to cracking sounds on the right side of my body. I felt so good last night, but today it felt so different than it has before. I’m having a very difficult time breathing, and there’s like a stabbing pain whenever I breathe or move. We’re in the hospital now, but with this pain, I can’t do the show tonight.” This health scare comes one week after he was injured while falling on stage where he suffered bruised ribs.

Queens of The Stone Age are reissuing three of their albums on vinyl with custom colorworks and restored artwork. Their 1998 self-titled debut will be re-released on black or limited-edition orange vinyl on October 21st. The Grateful Dead may finally be . . . dead.  Guitarist Bob Weir announced on Friday that Dead & Company will launch their FINAL TOUR next summer. But he added, quote, “Don’t worry, we will all be out there in one form or another until we drop.” Dead & Company includes three original members of the Grateful Dead:  Weir and drummers Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart. The band is rounded out by guitarist John Mayer, bassist Oteil Burbridge, and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti.

Sports Report 1

Well, it happened. We all knew it would. Albert Pujols slugged his way into baseball immortality. He hit two home runs Friday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers, becoming the fourth player in the 700 home run club. Here is the call. He’s now in a class with only Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, and Babe Ruth. The other record he increased with the 2 blasts was for most home runs hit off of different pitchers, with 699 hitting off his 444th pitcher and 700 off of his 445th. The fan who caught the ball hit by Albert Pujols for his 700th career home run reportedly intends to keep it, turning down multiple offers for the ball. The man turned down a small fortune — he didn’t take the stadium’s offer of a hot dog, popcorn, and beer (LINK) Pujols said, quote, “If they want to give it back, that’s great. But at the end of the day, I don’t focus on material stuff (LINK)” Cardinals play tomorrow in Milwaukee at 640.

Six clubs have successfully secured a spot in the 12-team bracket thus far, meaning there are still six playoff berths up for grabs. The Cleveland Guardians became the latest team to qualify for the playoffs on Sunday by clinching the AL Central title, joining the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, AL West champion Houston Astros and NL West champion Los Angeles Dodgers (LINK). Three of MLB’s six division races, including the NL East, are yet to be decided. Cardinals magic number is 4.

St. Louis Blues President and CEO of Business Operations Chris Zimmerman and CarShield CEO Nick Hamilton announced today the two organizations have entered into a five-year partnership agreement.  The partnership will include numerous marketing assets across the Blues’ platforms highlighted by CarShield becoming the official road helmet sponsor of the Blues.

It was a crappy week for easy guesses on NFL scores. The Chiefs blew it and were upset by the Colts. Bears beat the Texans. Panthers beat the Saints. Titans over Raiders. Bengals beat the Jets. The Still undefeated Dolphins beat the Bills. Eagles smoked the Commanders. Vikings over the Lions. Ravens beat the Patriots. Jaguars smashed the Chargers 38-10! A delay of game penalty stunted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers chances of a two-point conversion to tie the game. Despite not scoring in the second half, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers held on for the victory over Tom Brady. Packers over Bucs 14-12. Rams beat the Cardinals. Falcons beat the Seahawks. Broncos beat the 49ers. Cowboys and Giants tonight for MNF.
