Today Is National Paranormal Day . . . And 80% of Americans Believe in Ghosts

Today is National Paranormal Day, so if your walls start bleeding or your kid starts saying things in a flat, creepy voice like, “She says she’s in pain and we need to let her in,” don’t say we didn’t warn you.

And here are some results from a new survey in honor of the holiday . . .

1.  80% of Americans say they believe in ghosts.  That includes 45% who believe but have never seen one . . . and 35% who believe BECAUSE they’ve seen one.

2.  90% of people say they’re scared of paranormal activities.

3.  12% think the U.S. government knows more about aliens than it’s revealing.

4.  And 4% think they live in a haunted house.  (National Today)

A Guy Was Arrested at Kid Rock’s Bar for Swinging His Colostomy Bag Around

Here’s a story about something disgusting that happened at a bar owned by Kid Rock.  I know, I’m as shocked as you.  I also figured it would attract the “linen napkin on the lap, pinky up when drinking Earl Grey tea” crowd.

On Saturday night, the police in Nashville, Tennessee got a call to come to Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock ‘N Roll Steakhouse because . . . a guy had taken off his COLOSTOMY BAG and was swinging it around, spraying his feces all over the place.

That’s one kind of superspreader event right there.

The guy was arrested . . . and at least one of the cops had to go change because his uniform was covered in human fecal matter.  (Whiskey Riff)

OLYMPIA DUKAKIS passed away on Saturday.  No word on a cause of death . . . just that she’d been through “many months of failing health.”  She was 89 . . . and would have turned 90 next month. She co starred with CHER in “Moonstruck” . . . playing her mom.  She got an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1988. Olympia’s other roles included:  “Steel Magnolias”, “Mighty Aphrodite”, “The Event”, and the miniseries “Sinatra”, “Joan of Arc”, and “More Tales of the City”. If you didn’t know, Olympia IS related to MICHAEL DUKAKIS . . . they’re cousins.  Michael lost the 1988 presidential election to GEORGE H.W. BUSH.

Everyone kind of had a feeling it was something like this:  JOSH DUGGAR was charged with receipt and possession of child pornography on Friday.  He pleaded not guilty to both. His parents JIM BOB and MICHELLE DUGGAR issued a statement saying, quote, “The accusations brought against Joshua today are very serious. “It is our prayer that the truth, no matter what it is, will come to light, and that this will all be resolved in a timely manner.  We love Josh and Anna and continue to pray for their family. Josh made headlines in 2015, when it was revealed that he had molested five girls in the early 2000s.  Four of them were his own sisters.  The family handled the situation privately at the time. Later in 2015, Josh admitted to cheating on his wife Anna, and said he had a porn addiction.  Josh and Anna are currently expecting their seventh child.

Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco, one of several women to recently accuse Marilyn Manson of sexual abuse, filed an official lawsuit as of Friday, claiming the singer drugged, tortured and raped her in 2011. The documents allege that Manson once whipped Bianco with a “Nazi whip” and also cut her with a “Nazi knife”.  Bianco’s lawyer also accused Manson of electrocuting the actress and cutting her genitals and more for his own “sexual gratification”. Manson’s lawyer released a statement to The Associated Press soon after the lawsuit was filed, writing that Bianco’s claims “are provably false” while accusing the actress of filing suit only after Manson “refused to be shaken down” by her lawyers’ “outrageous financial demands.” Manson’s lawyer added “We will vigorously contest these allegations in court.”

Now that JENNIFER LOPEZ is single again, she’s been spending time with her ex-boyfriend BEN AFFLECK. He’s been spotted several times being driven to her home in a white Escalade that supposedly belongs to her. It should be noted that these are DAYTIME visits, and a source says they’re JUST FRIENDS, which they’ve been since they broke off their engagement in 2004. FYI, Ben’s ex-wife JENNIFER GARNER is aware of these “friendly” visits, and she’s cool.  A source says, quote, “She wants what is best for Ben.  What matters most to her is Ben being a great dad.”

GUY FIERI has raised $25 million during the pandemic for out-of-work line cooks, servers, and other restaurant professionals. One of the ways he did that was by going directly to the CEOs of major corporations and asking for donations.  He says he got huge sums of money from companies like PepsiCo, Uber Eats and Procter & Gamble. And from Amazon, he got . . . NOTHING.  He says, quote, “I’m not into shaming people and telling who didn’t donate, that’s not my style . . . [but JEFF BEZOS], by the way, didn’t help us.”

DWAYNE “THE ROCK” JOHNSON teamed up with BILL GATES and Microsoft to donate the new Xbox Series X to 20 children’s hospitals across the United States.  They will hopefully reach more than 50,000 kids. These are special edition consoles autographed by The Rock, with his “Brahma Bull” logo on them. He says, quote, “These kids are battling through their illnesses with incredible bravery and I’m thrilled [we] can provide some joy and smiles.  You kids show me and the world, what real strength means.”

Thanks to the pandemic, everyone has been streaming a LOT of TV.  But even though there’s a seemingly ENDLESS array of new shows, the ones that get the most viewers are . . . OLD. “The Office” was the most-streamed show last year, despite going off the air almost 10 years ago.  Other popular old shows include:  “The Sopranos”, “Friends”, “New Girl”, and “Vampire Diaries”. A new BBC report suggests that people may PREFER old shows to new ones because it’s more familiar, comforting, and stress-free . . . especially sitcoms. A few years back, a researcher looked into the concept, and found that repeats create a sense of “social surrogacy” or kinship with the characters.  She said, quote, “There is an association between favorite narratives and feeling better, which doesn’t occur if we’re watching something new.” But another researcher warns that you shouldn’t equate watching repeats with boosting mental health. He said, quote, “What’s the reason you’re watching TV? . . . Too much TV will ultimately lead to stagnation.  It’s physically sedentary, and exercise is maybe the most effective single treatment for depression. “Mentally, TV watching is also sedentary.  It’s OK to rest your mind but you should also be engaging your brain in something more active.”

Serj Tankian. Singer of System of A Down, who has long said “no” to a new record seems to warming up to the idea, thanks to the band’s two recent charity singles, “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz.” Serj told Consequence of Sound that he’s “extremely proud” that the band” put its “philosophies and our creative differences aside” for two songs that helped raise awareness of the conflicts in both Artsakh and Armenia. Serj is pleased with the the band’s latest work, adding “It does give me hope that one day we might be able to get it together and do something again…”

AXS-TV is launching a weekly limited concert series dedicated to the 1990s!  Long Live The 90s will highlight seven different acts that defined the decade, kicking off May 9th with Pearl Jam’s 2016 Let’s Play Two concert at Wrigley Field. The series will also feature concerts from Garbage, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against The Machine, Jane’s Addiction, The Black Crowes and Soundgarden. AXS TV’s Sarah Weidman wrote “From the fashion and music, to the toys and TV shows, the one era that people are constantly turning to is the 1990s.”

MORGAN WALLEN is still being punished for his N-word controversy.  This time it’s the “Billboard Music Awards” . . . and the whole thing is pretty awkward. They announced their nominees yesterday, and Morgan is a finalist in five categories.  And yet, he won’t be allowed to participate in the ceremony.  So why is he even nominated?  It’s because they don’t have a voting committee. Their awards are determined by performance on the Billboard charts, and we all know that he dominated the country charts this year. Anyway, here’s their statement:  “Morgan Wallen is a finalist this year based on charting.  As his recent conduct does not align with our core values, we will not be including him on the show in any capacity [performing, presenting, accepting.

You never know what’s gonna catch on . . . and this could be the next BIG thing . . . pun intended: There’s a PLUS SIZE boy band out of China called PRODUCE PANDAS.  The members are DING, Cass, Husky, Otter, and Mr. 17, and they weigh an average of 220 pounds. They’re also older than the average boy band.  Mr. 17 is the oldest, at 31. Cass says Produce Pandas have an important advantage over other bands in their genre.  Quote, “We don’t mind eating like a horse.  I feel sorry for the ‘little fresh meat’ bands whose members must follow a diet to stay slim. “I feel great whenever they look on enviously as we dig in!”(AUDIO)

A stock market trading company createdTHEORETICAL stock prices for musicians, based on how much they think their “brand” would be worth on the market. To come up with each price, they created an algorithm, that included:  The musicians’ streaming data, how many awards they won, their Billboard Hot 100 entries, existing sponsorship deals, and social media following. Here’s how the stars ranked, along with their theoretical “stock price”:

When the BLUES and WILD meet it seems to be damn near impossible to finish a game without at some point blowing multi goal lead.  And that’s exactly what happened to the Blues on Saturday.  Unfortunately.  The Blues were up 3-1 in the 3rd when the Wild scored 2 – including one with a minute to go – to force the game into OT.  It was just 2 minutes into OT when Minnesota scored and picked up the win.  The Blues had goals from Jordan Kyrou, Sammy Blais, and David Perron.  The two teams play again tonight at 7PM.  As of this morning, the Blues still sit on top of Arizona in the 4th position in the Honda West Division.

The Cardinals picked up a 3-0 win against the Pirates to complete the series sweep over the weekend.  Harrison Bader picked up his first homer of the year as Carlos Martinez got the win.  Cards are back at home against the Mets tonight.  Adam Wainwright gets the start.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:45PM.

Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer was in peak form Sunday in a complete game victory over the Marlins.  But his stellar performance wasn’t the most important thing for him this weekend. Shortly after recording the final out, Scherzer left Nationals Park to be with his wife, Erica, who’s in labor with their third child. They have two daughters and are expecting a baby boy. The 36-year-old dominated the Marlins Sunday in Washington’s 3–1 win. He allowed just five hits, one run and struck out nine batters.

Oakland Athletics left-hander Jesus Luzardo will be off the mound for a while — and maybe off video games too. Luzardo is out indefinitely after breaking the pinkie on his pitching hand when he thumped a table while playing a video game before his start Saturday. Oakland manager Bob Melvin said he didn’t know how much time Luzardo would miss or whether he would require a cast or splint on the finger. Melvin was hopeful the pitcher could still keep his arm in shape given the location of the break. Here’s what the manager had to say: QUOTE “Before the game he was playing a video game and accidentally bumped his hand on the desk as he was playing the game. We threw him in the cage before he went out there, watched him warm up. He was comfortable pitching. After the game, we got an X-ray and there was a hairline in the pinkie finger.”

The Seattle Kraken are free to make trades and sign players after making their final expansion payment to the NHL. Seattle owners paid $650 million to become the 32nd franchise. The Kraken begin play next season. The commissioner put out a statement that read: “On behalf of the board of governors, I am delighted to officially welcome the Seattle Kraken to the NHL as our 32nd member club. Congratulations to the Bonderman family, their partners, the entire Seattle Kraken organization, the city of Seattle and Kraken fans as the club continues on its exciting journey towards puck drop in October.”.

Manchester United’s match against Liverpool was postponed after fans broke into Old Trafford and rushed the field in a protest against the club’s owners.  “Following discussion between the Police, The Premier League, Trafford Council and the clubs, our match against Liverpool has been postponed due to safety and security considerations around the protest today,” the club released in a statement. Thousands of protesters were there two hours before Manchester United was set to host historic rival Liverpool. Fans hoisted signs ripping the club’s involvement in the proposed Super League and wore green-and-yellow scarves that represent the movement against the the Glazer family, the club owners who also own the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  At the stadium, which is set to hold a limited-capacity crowd, a score of fans took the field while setting off flares and smoke bombs. Protestors stayed on the field for roughly 10 minutes as a select group played soccer, threw camera tripods and ran off with mementos that included the corner flags

Lightweight boxer Felix Verdejo faces federal charges stemming from the death of his companion, a 27-year-old woman whose body was found in a lagoon in Puerto Rico. The body of Keishla Rodriguez, who was pregnant at the time of her death, was found a couple of days after she was reported missing. She was identified Sunday via dental records. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said late Sunday that Verdejo was being charged with kidnapping and carjacking resulting in death and with intentionally killing an unborn child. A criminal complaint filed by the FBI accuses Verdejo of punching Rodriguez in the face and injecting her with a syringe filled with an unidentified substance bought at a public housing complex. It alleges that he then bound her arms and feet with wire and tied a heavy block to her before throwing her off a bridge at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. The complaint states that Verdejo then shot at Rodriguez’s body as he stood on the bridge.

So yesterday was the Nascar Cup Series Race at Kansas.  At least, that’s what NASCAR recognizes it as.  However, we all know the real name of it.  It was the Buschy McBusch Race 400.  Busch held a naming contest for the race, and that is legit the name that one.  So silly.  Regardless…the winner of the 2021 Buschy McBush Race 400….very fittingly…Kyle Busch.  Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski, Matt DiBendedetto, and Chase Elliot rounded out the top 5.

And finally…Medina Spirit won the 147th Kentucky Derby on Saturday.  Here is the final call. (AUDIO) He was a 12-1 underdog.  The favorites, Hot Rod Charlie, Essential Quality, and Rock Your World came in 3rd, 4th and 17th.
