“Hocus Pocus 2” seems harmless enough, but BE WARNED:  It could be a gateway that allows SATAN into your home!!! That’s according to a Texas mom named Jamie Gooch, who went viral with a warning on social media.  And in an interview with her local TV station, she said, quote, “A worst case scenario is: you unleash hell on your kids and in your home. The whole movie is based on witches harvesting children for blood sacrifices.” She added, quote, “Do not watch this film.  Everybody thinks it’s fake and innocent, but they could be casting any type of spell that they want to, anything could be coming through that TV screen into your home.” Not surprisingly, Jamie and her family haven’t participated in Halloween in four or five years.  She said, quote, “It grieves me, the thought of exposing our kids to darkness.”

The husband of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has settled his wrongful death lawsuit against the producers of the movie “Rust”, including Alec Baldwin. There’s no word how much Matthew Hutchins is getting, but under the terms of the deal, “Rust” will resume production in January, with him as an executive producer. Matthew issued a statement saying, quote, “I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin). “All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident.  I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.” The settlement has nothing to do with the criminal investigation into Hylana’s death, so charges COULD still be filed.

Christian Bale has come to the conclusion that actors only get roles after they’re offered to Leonardo DiCaprio first.  Christian did lose five roles to Leo in the ’90s, and “American Psycho” was offered to Leo first. In an interview with “GQ”, Christian said, quote, “It doesn’t matter how friendly you are with the directors.  All those people that I’ve worked with multiple times, they all offered every one of those roles to him first  Literally, he gets to choose everything he does.  And good for him, he’s phenomenal.  I would suspect that almost everybody of similar age to him in Hollywood owes their careers to him passing on whatever project it is.” He doesn’t take it personally though.  He said he’s grateful to get any role.  And he can’t do what Leo does, nor would he want the amount of attention he gets.

The Late Late Show is losing James Corden. The late-night TV star will be leaving in the Summer of 2023. When all is said and done, James will have hosted the show for just under nine years. Fans are already talking about who will replace him. Here are some of the names being pitched on social media as possible replacements to host The Late Late Show once James Corden leaves. These picks are based on their experience in comedy, late-night TV, and similar hosting gigs. The Amber Ruffin Show host is one popular name floating around, she’s also a writer on Late Night with Seth Meyers. There’s Chelsea Handler, and Neil Patrick Harris who was offered the gig in 2014 but turned it down. It’s possible NPH may have been approached again to take over. Trevor Noah is leaving The Daily Show so maybe he wants to take over The Late Late Show. If CBS wants to keep the British vibe trend going there’s James, Russell who hails from the UK and hosts The Russell Howard Hour on Sky Max, covering politics and celebrity interviews.

Edie Falco understands why Pete Davidson is so popular with the ladies.  She’s playing his mom on the upcoming Peacock series, “Bupkis”, so she got to know him really well. Edie said you fall in love with him the second you meet him because he’s so loveable and genuine. Quote, “There is something so endearingly vulnerable and out there [about him].  He doesn’t play games.  He doesn’t try to keep up an image beyond what he cops to.  The second you meet him, you just want to hug him.”

With Daniel Craig officially retired as James Bond, speculation continues about who will take his place as 007. One Bond producer says he isn’t in a hurry to pick a replacement, but he did give a few clues. In a conversation with DEADLINE, Wilson said, “We’ve tried looking at younger people in the past. But trying to visualize it doesn’t work. Remember, Bond’s already a veteran. He’s had some experience. He’s a person who has been through the wars, so to speak.” Wilson continued, “He isn’t some kid out of high school that you can bring in and start off. That’s why it works for a thirty-something.”

Fighting long COVID since December 2021, Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro is sitting out the band’s upcoming tour. Explaining his situation with long COVID, Navarro wrote “I had hoped for a full recovery by October, but I am still very fatigued and will not be able to join this leg.” Navarro added that he’s “gutted” by his decision to stay home.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is done with Mase’s slander.  During an interview on Wednesday Diddy went in on Mase saying Combs owes him money. He said, “Just in general, the Ma$e thing. I did one album with Ma$e. One album. How much money do you think I owe this guy? And then he became a fake pastor and went and conned people. And y’all gon’ let him throw dirt on the god’s name.” Diddy added, “Anybody can come and step up. Bring your receipts. But I’m not playing. I’m back outside, and I’m fighting back for us. And I’m also doing some fighting back for me. Ma$e owes me $3 million. That’s facts, I got the receipts…and I’m not gon’ go back-and-forth with Ma$e. Anyone that thinks I owe them something, show me the receipt and you’ll get paid within 24 hours.”

Do you and your significant other love to celebrate Halloween together?  Well, here are 14 of the best horror movies for couples . . . according to some random person on the Internet . . .

  1. “The Conjuring” (2013):  “Partly based on the lives of Ed and Lorraine Warren, whose marriage is a testament to building a relationship through a common interest.”
  1. “The Woman” (2011):  “Turns the genre’s misogynistic past on its head . . . cruelty and systemic oppression are the evil villains, not women who don’t conform.”
  1. “Cabin in the Woods” (2012):  “The perfect movie for couples made up of one person who loves horror movies and another who hates them.”
  1. “Rosemary’s Baby” (1968):  “Geriatric satanists Minnie and Roman Castevet, are horror’s most woke couple.  They’re equal partners in a long-term project, and Minnie clearly has as much (or more) agency as her husband in their stab at unleashing ruin unto to all mankind.”
  1. “Let the Right One In” (2008):  “Maybe the relationship between a vampire and its familiar is exploitive and manipulative by nature, but on the other hand, love is strange, man.”
  1. 6.  “Vivarium” (2020):  “If you and your significant other are considering settling down, moving to the suburbs, and having a kid, ‘Vivarium’ is the movie for you.”
  1. “The House” (2022):  “Creepy, foreboding, and strange, but there are no scares, deaths, blood, or things jumping out at you.  It’s all atmosphere, sizzle without the steak, but it’s done so well, it’s still a full meal.”
  1. “The Babadook” (2014):  “Examines the terror of being a parent like few movies ever have.”
  1. “The Love Witch” (2016):  “There’s no nudity here, but ‘The Love Witch’ is porn for couples who get off on visual ingenuity . . . it’s so cool-looking, it’s hard to believe it even exists.”
  1. “The Hunger” (1983):  “The definitive sexy-vampire movie.”
  1. “A Dark Song” (2017):  “[The characters] must share embarrassing intimacies, endure personal betrayals, and trust one another even after their horrible inner-selves are exposed . . . It’s a metaphor for relationships.”

  1. “Final Girls” (2015):  “It’s scary, legitimately funny and features an emotional core that might make you cry.”
  1. “Midsommar” (2019):  “This is a good movie to watch together if you think it’s time for your romance to END.”

Sports Report 1

Jordan Hicks came off the injured list yesterday afternoon and threw 15 pitches in a scoreless inning, 8 of those pitches touched 100 mph. Cards ended up losing the lead though again in Pittsburgh and the Pirates won 5-3. So, the Cardinals finished their 131st season in the National League with a 93-69 record, their first losing record on the road since 2017 at 40-41 and a division title that carries them into the postseason as the NL’s No. 3 seed. They’ll host Philadelphia, the sixth seed, for a best-of-three wild-card series that begins Friday afternoon at Busch Stadium.

Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina’s regular season careers are over. The two retiring Cardinals legends had their final regular season game in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, with Pujols getting the entire day off and Molina popping out in a pinch-hit appearance. Pujols ends his 22-year career as one of the greatest players in the history of baseball. For his career, Pujols tallied 3,384 hits, 703 home runs, 2,218 RBIs and 1,914 runs in 11,421 at-bats. He has a career batting average of .296, a career on-base percentage of .374, a career slugging percentage of .544 and a career OPS of .918. Pujols is fourth all-time in home runs in baseball history, 10th all-time in hits, fifth all-time in games played, fifth all-time in doubles, second all-time in RBIs, second all-time in total bases and he’s the all-time leader in grounding into double plays. In his farewell 2022 season, Pujols hit .270 with 24 home runs, 68 RBIs and an OPS of .895. Pujols’ 24 home runs are the most he’s hit in a season since 2016. Outside of his long-time home parks of Busch Stadium II and III and Angel Stadium, the visiting park Pujols owned the most was PNC Park in Pittsburgh (LINK). In 102 career games at PNC Park, Pujols hit 35 home runs, drove in 101 runs, and hit .374 with an OPS of 1.176. Amazingly, Pujols does not lead in any of the Cardinals’ all-time franchise offensive statistics (LINK). He is second and third in a number of categories to Stan Musial and Mark McGwire.

Molina ends his career as one of the greatest Cardinals in franchise history, and one of the most historic catchers in baseball history. In 19 seasons, Molina accumulated 2,168 hits, 408 doubles, 176 home runs, 1,022 RBIs and scored 777 runs in 8,553 at-bats. Molina holds a career .277 average and caught 12,294 and two-thirds innings behind the plate. Among primary catchers, Molina is sixth all-time in games played, fifth in at-bats, fifth in hits, sixth in doubles, 13th in RBIs and second all-time in defensive WAR. In Cardinals history, Molina is first all-time in double plays grounded into and first all-time in sacrifice flies. Of the visiting parks he played at least 50 games in, Molina did the most damage at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. In 119 games there against the Reds, Molina had an OPS of .808 with 16 home runs and 65 RBIs (LINK)

The St. Louis Blues announced today that their final 2022 preseason game, against the Chicago Blackhawks, has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. this Saturday.  In addition, the Blues’ annual Ice Breaker event, originally scheduled for this Friday, Oct. 7 at Centene Community Ice Center, has been postponed.  The Blues have released the following statement concerning the time change and Ice Breaker announcements. The Blues-Blackhawks time change was made in order to avoid a conflict with the Cardinals’ home playoff game on Oct. 8.  The rescheduled start time resulted in additional schedule changes for the Blues beginning Friday

Los Angeles Angels’ two-way dynamo Shohei Ohtani has made Major League history, again. In a 2022 MLB season that’s seen several historic feats reached, Ohtani added another accomplishment to the record books on the final day of the regular season. Ohtani took the mound for the final time this season for the Angels in their season finale Wednesday against the Oakland A’s. After setting the A’s down in order in the first inning, Ohtani reached 162 innings pitched, becoming the first player in baseball history to qualify both as a pitcher and a hitter in the same season. Ohtani finished his final outing of 2022 by going 5.0 innings, allowing an earned run while striking out six. The 28-year-old went 15-8 (LINK) on the mound over 28 starts, with a 2.33 ERA and 219 strikeouts. Over the weekend, Ohtani signed the largest contract by an arbitration-eligible player ever, agreeing to a one-year, $30 million deal for 2023. Ohtani, the reigning American League MVP, will be in the running for this year’s honor, battling with New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge who recently hit home run No. 62, passing Roger Maris for the single-season AL home run record (LINK)

Kansas City Royals Executive Vice President and General Manager J.J. Picollo announced that manager Mike Matheny and pitching coach Cal Eldred will not return for the 2023 season. The fan who was taken down by the Rams Bobby Wagner after running onto the field during “Monday Night Football” has now filed a police report over the incident. A rep for the organization, Direct Action Everywhere took credit for the wild scene at Levi’s Stadium and says that the report stems from a “blatant assault” by two Rams players. The two protesters disrupted the game by running on the field and then released two pink smoke bombs to make a statement. One of the protesters, a woman, was taken down before she got on the field. As the guy headed toward the Rams’ sideline, Bobby Wagner along with teammate Takkarist McKinley took him down. Security took over, and the fans were eventually detained, cited, and released. The stunt was to raise awareness for a trial involving the alleged theft of pigs from a factory farm. The organization said the man suffered a burn injury during the incident. After the game, Wagner said he jumped in to help security for safety reasons. “You don’t know what that fan got or what they’re doing,” the star linebacker said. Wagner has not been arrested or charged with any crime. Bobby Wagner’s head coach, Sean McVay, says he’s not concerned with the police report telling the media Wednesday, “We all know where Bobby’s intentions were, and I support Bobby Wagner.” An NBA G-League game has spawned a superstar…at least by name. On Tuesday, G League Ignite played French team Metropolitans 92. One of the members of Metro 92 is named, wait for it, Steeve Ho You Fat. Steeve is a 34-year-old forward from Cayenne, French Guiana. It’s his second year on the team. The game was broadcast on ESPN2, and fans took notice of the incredible last name. The announcer even said, “[Steeve] Ho You Fat with the three. Yes, I just said that. That is that man’s name. Don’t tweet at me.” Ho You Fat got in on the fun by posting on social media after the game, “Looks like they really want that jersey.” A man is suing the New England Patriots Hall of Fame … claiming it ruined his one-of-a-kind, Tom Brady signed American flag — costing him potentially over $1 MILLION.
