Nominees for the Golden Globes were announced yesterday . . . and remember how Will Smith was concerned that his behavior at the Oscars would unnecessarily punish the cast and crew of “Emancipation”? Well, that may be EXACTLY what happened . . . because the movie was completely snubbed, even though many people expected it to get some love this award season. Tom Cruise also failed to score a nod for “Top Gun: Maverick”. . . even though the movie itself got two, for Best Motion Picture, Drama and Best Original Song. It’s possible Cruise is being punished, too.  Last year when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association got slammed for its lack of diversity and other ethically-questionable practices, tom RETURNED his three Globes. One person who DIDN’T get snubbed is the one guy who has publicly stated he’s not showing up:  Brendan Fraser.  He’s up for “The Whale”, but he has a sordid history with the HFPA. The former head of it GROPED Brendan in 2003, and it sent him into a personal and career tailspin he’s only just recovering from.

Scripts about Dolly Parton’s rise to fame and a musical drama about the life of Britney Spears are among the 2022 Black List of Hollywood’s most liked unproduced screenplays. This year’s Black List was compiled from the suggestions of more than 300 film executives, contributing the names of up to ten favorite feature film screenplays that were written in. Scripts had to receive at least six mentions to be included. The most voted-for scripts were a movie about Four Seasons Total Landscaping, the small business made famous after the 2020 presidential election, the making of the holiday classic It’s a Wonderful Life, and the post-Olympics life of swimmer Michael Phelps. Past entries on the Black List have included Oscar best picture winners like Slumdog Millionaire, Argo, and The King’s Speech. Among recently produced former Black List screenplays are King Richard and Promising Young Woman (LINK)

Jennifer Coolidge recently admitted that she got a lot more ACTION after she played Stifler’s Mom in “American Pie”. Jennifer was interviewed and she revealed that her greatest conquest post-“American Pie” was also her YOUNGEST. She didn’t say how young he was, but she made it very clear he was LEGAL.  But something very interesting happened after their night of passion. Quote, “The next morning, I told him I needed to get a blow dry.  So he was so young, we called his mother to see where I could get a blow dry.  It was so weird that happened on the phone; it was very clear that we were in the bed together.” FYI, mom gave Jennifer a good recommendation for a place to get her hair done at a local mall

At the end of a show in San Francisco on Sunday night, Dave Chappelle brought Elon Musk onstage, and it did NOT go well.  There was booing.  A LOT of booing.  Witnesses say it went on for a good 10 minutes. Dave said, quote, “It sounds like some of the people you fired are in the audience.” Chappelle started to lose his cool a little.  He told the crowd, quote, “You shut the [eff] up with your boos . . . booing is not the best thing you can do.  Try, [N-word].” Then he signed off . . . but before they packed it in completely, Dave had Elon say the classic catchphrase from “Chappelle’s Show”:  “I’m rich, [B-word]!”  And I promise, you’ve never heard it delivered more awkwardly. Yesterday, Elon Tweeted that 90% of the crowd was CHEERING, and only 10% were booing.  But a writer who was in the crowd says the crowd was easily 80-20 AGAINST Musk.

“Good Morning America” hosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes will have plenty of time to HANG . . . because ABC is keeping them off the air until they complete an “internal review” of their relationship. The ABC News President sent an email to staff saying this chaos is, quote, “distracting from the incredibly important work our team does here at ABC News.” Supposed “insiders” at ABC say Amy and T.J. welcome the review, because they don’t believe they’ve done anything wrong, and they think they’ll be back on the air when it’s all over.

Chevy Chase is creeping up on his 80th birthday, but as busy as ever — that’s not necessarily weird for a comedy legend … but the odd part is he’s promoting ‘Christmas Vacation’ like it just debuted!!! The head of his marketing agency says the holidays really are the most wonderful time of the year for Chevy — he just wrapped 2 sold-out Q&A screenings of the National Lampoon classic at Foxwoods Resort Casino in CT, and he has a 2-day Comic-Con appearance in Pittsburgh this weekend. What’s more, the actor’s got another ‘Christmas Vacation’ screening booked in Atlantic City next weekend, followed by another in Michigan.

Attorneys had their opening statements in the trial where Tory Lanez is accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion. On Monday, the prosecution said Lanez fired five shots in July 2020, hitting Megan in both feet. Allegedly Lanez was upset after Meg called him a “beautiful artist.” The prosecution pointed to text messages from Lanez to Meg apologizing for what he did and claiming he was drunk when he did it.  The defense said that Tory couldn’t have been the triggerman because his DNA was not on the weapon, and he was wearing swim trunks at the time, so there was no place for him to carry a gun.  Lanez’s attorney seems to be laying the groundwork for Meg’s former best friend, Kelsey Nicole Harris as the person who fired the gun.

Janet Jackson is heading on tour with Ludacris! The Together Again Tour will kick off in April and cross the country through the spring.  A promotional video for the tour promises new music as well as classics from Janet.  Tickets for the concerts go on sale this week. Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford is battling prostate cancer. In an interview, he said he was diagnosed two months before Rage was supposed to start their reunion tour in July.  He had his prostate removed and hit the road, but he’s still dealing with it. He says, quote, “I’ve been someone that’s taken a lot of pride in being in shape and taking care of myself.  But it’s something where either you’re either lucky or not.” Tim says music is one of the things that keeps him going.  In addition to Rage, he’s got a side band called 7D7D.  And he wants his story to inspire others. Quote, “I hope there’s one person who reads this and is like, ‘[Eff], I need to get checked out’ when they find out about it.  It’s going to be OK because they found out about it, and for me, that’s good enough.”

Sometimes you just want to say TO HECK with everything, crank the stereo, and rock . . . SOFT??? If that sounds like you, then I’ve got some nifty news for you:  a SOFT ROCK docuseries called “Sometimes When We Touch” will debut on Paramount+ on January 3rd. Artists profiled include Hall & Oates, Kenny Loggins, Lionel Richie, Air Supply, Michael McDonald, the Carpenters, Christopher Cross, and more.

Ronnie Turner, the son of legendary singer Tina Turner, has died. Tina broke her silence on her son’s passing on social media. “Ronnie, you left the world far too early,” she wrote. “In sorrow I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son.” Ronnie’s father Ike Turner, died in 2007. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that they received a 911 call on Thursday morning from somebody saying Ronnie was struggling to breathe.  Despite CPR attempts by bystanders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. . He was 62.

Soccer reporter Grant Wahl‘s body was repatriated to United States soil on Monday … two days after his shocking death at the World Cup in Qatar.

Department of State spokesperson Ned Price confirmed the news during press briefings just now … saying U.S. ambassador Timmy Davis has been in constant communication with Wahl’s family, and the embassy has been working nonstop to help fulfill their wishes in the days following the journalist’s passing. Price said an embassy consular officer accompanied Wahl’s body and possessions to the U.S.

Officials told the AP Wahl’s body was taken to JFK airport in New York. As we talked about yesterday,  Wahl was only in his late 40’s but died after collapsing in the press box while attending the Argentina vs. the Netherlands match on Friday.

Emergency responders treated Wahl at the stadium for nearly 30 minutes before rushing him to a nearby hospital. Wahl’s brother, Eric, posted an emotional video to Instagram after his passing … claiming he believed foul play was involved due to Grant wearing a pro-LGBTQ+ shirt (LINK) to the U.S. national team’s first match last month.

LeBron James‘ family has yet another reason to celebrate today … The King’s youngest son, Bryce, has followed in Dad’s footsteps — and signed on with Klutch Sports. The agency announced Monday it’s inked the young James to an NIL deal … welcoming the 15-year-old rising Sierra Canyon hoops star with a social media post. Of course, LeBron’s longtime friend Rich Paul founded the org. in 2012 after leaving Creative Artists Agency (CAA) … and has inked some of the biggest deals in the NBA over the last few years.

In addition to LBJ, stars like Anthony DavisDraymond Green, Ben SimmonsTrae Young and Anthony Edwards are all Klutch clients. Bryce is now the second James kid to get his feet wet in the NIL game … his brother, Bronny, signed a deal with Beats by Dre (LINK) and Nike in October.

Arizona fell to 4-9 on the year with a 27-13 NFL Week 14 loss to the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football at State Farm Stadium, but the team also lost quarterback Kyler Murray to an injury on the third play of the game.

Murray left the game with a non-contact knee injury after running for a 3-yard gain.

He is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday, but left the field on a cart with a towel over his head, clearly dejected. Arizona led 13-7 near the end of the first half, but Nick Folk hit a 51-yard field goal to make it 13-10 as the first half ended and the Patriots outscored the Cardinals 17-0 in the second half (LINK)

David Rudisha, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and one of the best middle-distance runners in the world, survived a horrifying plane crash — and is grateful to be alive.

Rudisha, a native of Kenya, told the Nation newspaper his plane took off after he attended the annual Maasai Olympics event at the wildlife sanctuary in Kajiado South-East Kenya when disaster struck.

DR told the outlet about seven or eight minutes into the flight the engine malfunctioned, resulting in the plane going down. He said “It was a scary episode where you hold your heart in your hand as you pray to God,” Rudisha said. “The pilot did an incredible job to keep the plane afloat and stable for long.”
