Kelly was found guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering charges last September. He’s scheduled to be sentenced on June 29th. The prosecutors want Kelly to spend at least 25 years in jail. On Wednesday, the council told a judge that Kelly “avoided punishment …for almost 30 years and must now be held to account.” Kelly is facing another trial on similar charges in Chicago later this year.

There were only supposed to be around 60 guests, but they included some big names, like Madonna, Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez, Kate Hudson, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Not surprisingly, their mom, dad, and sister JAMIE LYNN weren’t invited. Also not in attendance were Britney’s sons, 16-year-old Sean Preston and 15-year-old Jayden James. But an attorney for their dad, Kevin Federline, said that all three of them wish her the best. Also not invited but showing up abyway was Britneys first husband Jason Alexander did stop by (LINK)

JENNIFER LOPEZ and SHAKIRA put on a great halftime show at the 2020 Super Bowl. But behind the scenes, things weren’t all that smooth. It turns out J-Lo didn’t want to share the spotlight. In the new Netflix documentary “Halftime”, she says, quote, “This was the worst idea in the world.” Then later she adds, quote, “This is something I have been working for and hoping for for years.” On top of that, the NFL only gave them 12 minutes. There’s a scene where Shakira expresses her concern about them having enough time. Her manager Benny Medina says, quote, “Typically, you have one headliner at a Super Bowl . . . It was an insult to say you needed two Latinas to do the job that one artist historically has done.” “Halftime” hits Netflix on Tuesday (LINK)

The Recording Academy also created a new award for best song for social change . . . it must be about a timely social issue and promote understanding and empathy. The new categories are Best Spoken Word Poetry Album . . . Alternative Music Performance . . . Americana Music Performance . . . Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media . . . and Songwriter of the Year. Now most are self-explanatory, but Songwriter of the Year IS different than Song of the Year, which also recognizes songwriters. Eligible songwriters must also have written at least five songs where they are credited “solely” as a songwriter or co-writer. Quote, “Somebody who writes their own music and records it would not be eligible. They would have to be doing songs for others. We want to highlight the craft of writing songs professionally for artists” (LINK)

This has to be some type of record; Tool’s Maynard James Keenan has revealed that he recently battled COVID-19 for a FOURTH time! The singer told AZ Central he got it after Tool’s recent tour in Europe last month, joking “I got the European-flavored one.” Keenan’s a realist about his situation, though, saying “I mean, when you’re in a room full of thousands of people, it’s being passed around. You get into a tube and you fly 10 hours in a contained environment, you’re gonna get it. If somebody has it and you’re gonna get it, you can get it. That’s just the nature of what it is now. We need to embrace that and stop freaking the f*** out.” Keenan was hospitalized with COVID in 2020 and also suffered lung damage.

LeBron James, whose net worth was recently put north of $1 billion by Forbes, has made it known for years that he plans to own an NBA team when he is finished playing.
Now that vision has a location. He said QUOTE “I want a team in Vegas and it’ll be sooner than later.” James, who is 37, will enter his 20th NBA season in the fall when Los Angeles Lakers training camp opens up. He would have to be finished playing before he could purchase a team, and he would have to figure out an ownership group to aid in the bid — the most recent NBA team to go on the market, the Minnesota Timberwolves, fetched $1.5 billion in 2021. James would also need the league to expand to Vegas. During his annual NBA Finals news conference last week, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said there are no current plans for expansion beyond the league’s 30 teams.

Nassar was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison in 2018 for molesting seven young gymnasts and later received a sentence of up to 125 years on three further counts of criminal sexual conduct.
