You guys recall this song from The Gap Band? R&B legend Ronnie Wilson, a founding member of The Gap Band is dead at age 73. He died peacefully at 10:01 AM Tuesday at his home in Tulsa, OK.  He suffered a stroke last week, and it put him into a semi-coma and he never recovered. Apparently that was one of several strokes throughout the years. Ronnie and his brothers, Charlie and Robert Wilson, formed The Gap Band back in the 1970s in Tulsa, OK … and their music picked up the baton from huge acts like Stevie Wonder, George Clinton and Earth Wind & Fire. The Gap Band was huge in the 1980s and they are most famous for their hit song, “You Dropped a Bomb on Me.”

KRISTEN STEWART is officially off the market.  Her screenwriter girlfriend of two years, DYLAN MEYER, has proposed. Kristen said, quote, “I wanted to be proposed to, so I think I very distinctly carved out what I wanted and she nailed it.  We’re marrying, it’s happening.” Kristen also said she knew she loved Dylan from the beginning of their relationship and that, quote, “all bets were off.” (LINK)

QUENTIN TARANTINO is releasing seven exclusive scenes from “Pulp Fiction” that have supposedly never been seen before.  But he’s auctioning them off as NFTs. The scenes will include, quote, “the uncut first handwritten scripts of ‘Pulp Fiction’ and exclusive custom commentary from Tarantino” . . . plus a “front cover” that’s never-before-seen, public-facing work of art.” (LINK)

Sylvester Stallone has the Rocky IV re edit called Rocky vs Drago coming out November 11th in theaters. He now says he wishes he hadn’t killed off Apollo Creed. We were in his bathroom installing a new showerhead and he kept bringing it up. For showtimes and tickets to Fathom Events’ Rocky vs. Drago theater release, visit FathomEvents.com.

The trailer for the upcoming movie Morbius was released on Tuesday. In the film, Jared Leto plays Dr. Michael Morbius, who suffers from a rare blood disease. His experimental treatment turns him into a being who struggles to balance right and wrong. This is the latest Marvel character coming from Sony Studios. So far, the filmmaker has given us Spider-Man and Venom movies. Morbius flies into theaters on January 28th, 2022.

You know the guy who plays “Mayhem” in those Allstate insurance commercials? His name is DEAN WINTERS, and he’s missing two toes and half a thumb.  They were amputated in 2009, due to a bacterial infection. And ever since, he says, quote, “I haven’t taken a step without being in pain.”  But he adds, quote, “I’ve been sucking it up because, you know, the alternative is not a place where I want to be.” And he’s still plugging away.  In addition to a new batch of Allstate commercials, he’s in Netflix’s upcoming “Tiger King” docuseries “Joe Exotic”.  He plays Joe’s sleazy rival Jeff Lowe (LINK)

GWYNETH PALTROW released her annual Goop Gift Guide, and it is way different than Oprah’s list. Gwyneth’s list has 10 VIBRATORS . . . including ones that are super bendy, ones that have multiple stoking speeds . . . some with a remote control . . . others with interchangeable interfaces . . . and those that provide gentle heat. There’s even a vibrating hairbrush that’s shower- and bath-safe . . . so yeah. Oh, and the Goop list also has a toy for, let’s just say . . . another zone. The list is loaded with all kinds of other sex-related products too, like the DTF supplements . . . which are meant to boost the female libido. Another way the Goop Gift Guide differs from Oprah’s Favorite Things is that it’s got way more pretentious, overpriced nonsense on it that’s basically only for super-rich people who hate the poor. Like the Striped Super Soft Blanket . . . yes, a blanket . . . that costs $3,695.  Somehow, that thing’s actually SOLD OUT (LINK)

MARIAH CAREY’s most powerful season is upon us.  She is doing another special for Apple TV+ called “Mariah’s Christmas: The Magic Continues”. It’s supposed to come out sometime in December, but no exact date yet.  It’ll include the first-ever performance of her new holiday song with KHALID and gospel singer KIRK FRANKLIN.  It’s called “Fall in Love at Christmas”.  it comes out THIS Friday (LINK)

Have you heard of the metal band that pays homage to Ned Flanders from “The Simpsons” called OKILLY DOKILLY. Okilly Dokilly is going on a farewell tour next year called “Tourdilly Do ’22”. The band was even featured in a “Simpsons” episode in 2019. The vocalist who goes by Head Ned, said, quote, “We just want to let everyone know that we won’t be touring or making any new music in the next few years.  I’m not sure if or when we’ll be back, but for now, it’s ‘toodilly do’.” May 03 – St. Louis, Mo. @ Red Flag (LINK)

Looks like U2 has followed other bands like THE BEATLES and LED ZEPPELIN . . . and made a TikTok. For their first post, they previewed their new song, “Your Song Saved My Life”. It came out TODAY and it’s from the “Sing 2” soundtrack. BONO is actually making his animated debut in the movie as a reclusive rockstar lion named Clay Calloway. Now that U2 is on TikTok, users can use some of their songs for their posts, like “Beautiful Day”, “Sweetest Thing”, and “With or Without You”. Also, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seventh album, “Achtung Baby”, U2 will be sharing archived footage from over the decades (LINK)

Sports Report 1

The Atlanta Braves are the 2021 World Series Champions.  The Braves finished things off by winning the World Series over the Houston Astros, 4 games to 2. This is their first World Series title since 1995. JORGE SOLER crushed a three-run homer in the third inning, to put the Braves up 3 to nothing.  Then DANSBY SWANSON hit a two-run shot in the fifth to make it 5 to nothing. Before the inning was over, Soler scored on a double by FREDDIE FREEMAN to make it 6 to nothing.  Freeman then hit a solo homer in the seventh, to make it 7 to nothing . . . which ended up being the final score. Soler was named MVP of the series. So, is it too early to start thinking about NEXT season?  Because the Dodgers are the early favorites to be the 2022 World Series champs.  The Astros are second, followed by the Braves.

The Blues are back on the ice tonight to start their west coast road trip.  They take on the Kings at 9PM tonight.  They will be without Ryan O’Reilly, Ville Husso, and now Kyle Clifford as all three on currently on the COVID-19 list.  But, while we are on the Blues, they are having a pretty decent start to their season…but on the ice…and on the TV.  In addition to their franchise-record 6-1-0 start to the 2021-22 season, the Blues have also drawn the best October TV ratings in the team’s 25 seasons on Bally Sports Midwest. The Blues’ win vs. Los Angeles on Oct. 25 was the highest rated regular season game on Bally Sports Midwest since April 7, 2015. Blues local-market TV ratings rank No. 3 among U.S. NHL teams. The Blues have finished in the top five for eight straight seasons.

The NFL trade deadline came and went yesterday and honestly – a whole bunch of nothing happened.  DeShaun Watson wasn’t sent anywhere.  Odell Beckham Jr didn’t get traded. Really, no big names were on the move at all.  Probably the biggest trade from yesterday was the Steelers sending linebacker Melvin Ingram to the Chiefs for a sixth round pick.

Retired NFL quarterback Philip Rivers said he would listen if the New Orleans Saints called about adding him to their roster. The Saints suddenly have an opening under center after starter Jameis Winston suffered a torn ACL during Sunday’s game against the Bucs, although the team has not contacted Rivers. “We’re satisfied with the quarterback room,” Saints coach Sean Payton told reporters Monday.  New Orleans also has Taysom Hill, Trevor Siemian and rookie fourth-round pick Ian Book on the roster.

The first College Football Playoff rankings of the season were released on Tuesday with Georgia leading the way as expected. Following Georgia, the rest of the top six include Alabama (7-1), Michigan State (8-0), Oregon (7-1), Ohio State (7-1) and Cincinnati (8-0). This is the highest ranking in the College Football Playoff era for a non-Power 5 conference program. No team on Georgia’s remaining schedule (not counting a potential apperance in the SEC championship game) is currently ranked in the AP Top 25.

The defending Western Conference champions are putting their slow start behind them. The Suns defeated the Pelicans 112-100 last night. Most notably from the game however – was that Chris Paul dished out 18 assists and passed Steve Nash for the third-most assists in NBA history.  He now has 10,336 assists.  Above him?  Jason Kidd with 12,091 assists.  John Stockton holds the title with 15,806 assists.

The Raiders announced late last night they have released wide receiver Henry Ruggs III, who was involved in a car accident that resulted in a death Tuesday morning. The 22-year-old was booked on charges of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm and reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm. Police have identified the victim as a 23-year-old woman. Ruggs’s girlfriend was a passenger in his car during the wreck and sustained serious injuries.  The accident, which involved a Chevy Corvette that Ruggs III was driving and a Toyota Rav4, occurred at 3:39 a.m. Tuesday morning in Las Vegas. Ruggs was driving at a “high rate of the speed” on a three-lane road, driving in the center lane. Ruggs merged into the right-most lane, and hit the back of the other vehicle, and it caught on fire. The driver was trapped, and firefighters were unable to rescue her. Police said Ruggs remained at the scene but “showed signs of impairment.” He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital. Ruggs’s attorneys said they are investigating the accident on behalf of their client “and ask everyone to reserve judgment until all the facts are gathered.” Under Nevada law, probation is not an option if convicted of DUI resulting in death. It carries a possible sentence of two to 20-year sentence.
