With the help of 3 homeruns from Jose Altuve the Houston Astros picked up a Game 1 win in their ALDS series. Final score was 8-2. In the other ALDS series…the Indians smashed the Yankees 4-0 after holding them hitless until the 6th inning. Today, the Red Sox and Astros play game two, as well as game two of the Yankees Indian series following that. And the NLCS gets started as well. The Cubs play the Nationals at 6:30 and the Diamondbacks take on the Dodgers at 9:30.
According to a report from the New York Post, MLB officials are looking into whether Diamondbacks assistant coach Ariel Prieto used an internet-enabled watch for espionage purposes during Wednesday’s Wild Card win over the Rockies. Prieto can be seen wearing some sort of watch with a large face, and MLB rules prohibit the use of internet devices in the dugout since they can possibly be used to steal signs. Neither MLB nor the Diamondbacks commented on the reported investigation..

CAM NEWTON is sorry that he mocked a female reporter on Wednesday, after she tried to ask him a football question. Last night, he released a video saying, quote, “After careful thought, I understand that my word choice was extremely degrading and disrespectful to women . . . that was not my intentions . . . I sincerely apologize . . .What I did was extremely unacceptable . . . I’ve already lost sponsors and countless fans, [and] I realize that the joke is really on me . . . I’ve learned a valuable lesson from this. To the young people who see this, I hope that you’ve learned something from this as well. Don’t be like me . . . be better than me.” For what it’s worth, Cam doesn’t mention the reporter he mocked. . . he just apologizes to, quote, “all the women all around the world.” The video came about nine hours after Dannon Oikos Yogurt said that they’d no longer use Cam in their commercials, and they’d pull the existing ones. Gatorade is also distancing itself from his comments.
