Hot on the heels of removal of network chief Les Moonves, 60 Minutes executive producer Jeff Fager left the program yesterday amid his own set of multiple misconduct allegations. Fager was accused of misconduct by six women in Ronan Farrow’s July New Yorker exposé about workplace culture at the network and its news division. “Jeff Fager is leaving the company effective immediately,” CBS News president David Rhodes said in a memo to staffers on Wednesday. “This action today is not directly related to the allegations surfaced in press reports, which continue to be investigated independently. However, he violated company policy and it is our commitment to uphold those policies at every level.” CNN notes that CBS declined to explain which “company policy” Fager violated. Meanwhile, Fager claims in a statement that CBS “terminated my contract early because I sent a text message to one of our own CBS reporters demanding that she be fair in covering the story….Despite the fact that journalists receive harsh demands for fairness all the time, CBS did not like it. One such note should not result in termination after 36 years, but it did.”
NORM MACDONALD went on the “Howard Stern Show” yesterday to try to walk back his controversial comments on the #MeToo movement. But he may have just succeeded in angering another group. He said, quote, “I never defended [the perpetrators]. I am completely behind the #MeToo movement. You’d have to have Down Syndrome to not feel sorry for [the victims].” But he did add that #MeToo is, quote, “what you want for your daughters. We want that to be the future world, of course.” Norm also talked about being yanked from the “Tonight Show” Tuesday night . . . just minutes before the show was about to start. He said he was having discussions with JIMMY FALLON about how to proceed. But eventually, Jimmy came to him and said, quote, “I don’t know what to do . . . it’s just that I have so much pressure, people are crying. Senior producers are crying.” Norm was cool about it though. He told Jimmy, quote, “I don’t want to hurt your show. That is the last thing I want to do.” Norm is scheduled to be on “The View” today. As far as we know, that’s still happening.
Speaking of The View: There are two things that recent history has shown us basically ANYONE can do: Be president and write a book. STORMY DANIELS isn’t president so yea she announced yesterday on The View that she done wrote a book

DC and Warner Brothers may be looking for a new Superman, because the word is that HENRY CAVILL is OUT. Sources say talks broke down for Cavill to do a cameo in “Shazam!” over a scheduling conflict, and since there may not be another Superman movie for a few years, he’s basically going to age out of the role. Plus, with BEN AFFLECK possibly done playing Batman, the studio could be looking to reboot both characters. But Warner Brothers released a statement saying they have a “great relationship” with Cavill, and no decisions have been made. And Cavill’s management Tweeted, quote, “Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. Warner Brothers has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe.” Still, there’s already talk of possible replacements, including “Black Panther” star MICHAEL B. JORDAN. Cavill has played Superman in three movies: “Man of Steel” in 2013, “Batman v. Superman” in 2016, and “Justice League”last year.

Netflix on Wednesday released the first trailer for its anticipated original film from the Coen Brothers, “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.” Written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, the Western film features an anthology of stories, and was originally conceived as a six-episode miniseries. The Coens reportedly “decided instead to jam the episodes” into one feature film before screening it at the Venice Film Festival in August. “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs” stars James Franco, Liam Neeson, Zoe Kazan, Tim Blake Nelson, and Tom Waits in an ensemble cast. They said the material for the film originated from stories they wrote over a period of 25 years. The film has a 94% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes from the 17 critics who saw it in Venice. “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs” debuts on Netflix and in select theaters on November 16.
Variety is reporting that the snarky news and gossip website Gawker is relaunching next year. Bustle Digital Group CEO Bryan Goldberg, who bought the remnants of Gawker Media earlier this summer, broke the news to staffers on Tuesday via memo. “We won’t recreate Gawker exactly as it was, but we will build upon Gawker’s legacy and triumphs–and learn from its missteps,” Goldberg wrote. “We aim to create something new, vibrant, highly relevant, and worth visiting daily.” Gawker went bankrupt after losing an invasion of privacy lawsuit filed by Hulk Hogan.
Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis says the band is about to get back together to start work on a new album. According to The New York Post, the band will begin writing sessions in about two weeks for the follow-up to 2016’s The Getaway. The forthcoming release will mark the band’s 12th studio album to date and third with the current lineup of Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. News of a new album also comes just weeks before Flea will release his memoir, Acid for the Children, on September 25.

Somebody did an analysis of the four Marvel ‘team-up’ movies . . . “The Avengers”, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, “Captain America: Civil War”, and “Avengers: Infinity War”, and they found that, in all four cases, the Avenger who has the most lines is IRON MAN. Maybe that isn’t shocking, since ROBERT DOWNEY JR. basically launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his “Iron Man”movies. But even after Captain America was introduced, he hasn’t gotten more lines. The difference between the two has stayed roughly the same . . . even in the “Captain America” movie. Captain America is the only one who comes close to Iron Man though, while everyone else is still pretty far behind. This wasn’t a formal study, it was just put together by someone on Reddit. They counted all the lines, but beyond that there isn’t much to it.
Anyone can get over a breakup by hooking up with some random guy for hot, meaningless sex. But not everyone can do it with ZAC FREAKIN’ EFRON. Apparently, MEL B can. According to the not-always-reliable British tabloids, Mel hooked up with Zac after leaving her husband Stephen Belafonte last year. A source says they met through a, quote, “super-exclusive dating app,” and spent “a few enjoyable hours together.” The source adds, quote, “It wasn’t exactly a meeting of minds. Neither saw it as long-term, but there was chemistry there. Mel thought Zac had an amazing body.” There’s 13 years between them, by the way. Mel is 43, Zac is 30.
