Conan Gray, who just released his album “Superache”, was invited to sing the National Anthem before last night’s Home Run Derby.  How do you think he did?  ((AUDIO)) With everything now, people were taking digs (LINK) at him on social media.  He’s singing with an old-fashioned baseball organist.  Does everyone expect Whitney Houston perfection?  Do people prefer live or lip-synched?  Is this THAT far off?  The biggest question, how safe is it to even take the honor of singing it anymore, with so many haters?

The mystery surrounding Jordan Peele’s latest film Nope will be officially revealed this weekend.  On Monday night, the movie premiered in Los Angeles. The early comments were extremely positive.  People magazine tweeted, “#NopeMovie is a resounding YES. See it on the biggest screen you can find. A thrilling and strange spectacle unlike anything else out there.” Another critic tweeted, “#Nope is an experience that won’t be easy to shake off as you find yourself picking your jaw up from the floor. Jordan Peele has done it again!.” You’ll have a few days to prepare for what’s coming as Nope opens this Friday, July 22nd.

Sylvester Stallone is going after “Rocky” producer Irwin Winkler for hoarding the rights to the franchise. On Saturday, he posted a picture of Winkler with his head on a snake’s body, and a knife blade coming out of his mouth like a tongue.  He said, quote, “I really would like [to] have at least a little [of] WHAT’s LEFT of my RIGHTS back.  Before passing it on to ONLY YOUR CHILDREN, I believe that would be a FAIR gesture from this [91-year-old] gentleman? This is a painful subject That eats at my soul, because I wanted to leave something of Rocky for my children.” Then yesterday, he posted a picture of Winkler and his family as VAMPIRES, and said, quote, “We are Very happy [the family] are staying heathy and very bloody well fed off the ITALIAN STALLION, while CONTROLLING All of the ROCKY FILMS FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS!  Bon appétit!”

There was a time when Arnold Schwarzenegger was a bit more crass and uncultured than he is now.  And actress Miriam Margolyes can tell you all about it. Miriam is probably best known for playing Professor Sprout in the “Harry Potter” movies.  But back in 1999, she was in the horror flick “End of Days” with Arnold.  And she really didn’t enjoy it. She says, quote, “He farted in my face.  Now, I fart, of course I do, but I don’t fart in people’s faces.  He did it deliberately, right in my face.” She added, quote, “It wasn’t on film, it was in one of the pauses, but I haven’t forgiven him for it.” She also says Arnold was, quote, “a bit too full of himself.”

While Keanu Reeves is as synonymous with John Wick as he is with Neo from The Matrix, the role of Wick almost went in an entirely different direction. According to a new behind-the-scenes book, They Shouldn’t Have Killed His Dog, the original writers script for the first film was originally written with a much older actor in mind. In fact, there were two names that were specifically being kicked around: Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford. As for how Reeves became involved, the actor’s agent was aggressively looking for projects to get him out of a career slump. When Reeves read the script, he immediately wanted in. And if you know anything about Reeves, the guy is an aggressive reader, so when something sparks his interest, you really know you got something.

Rob Zombie’s “Munsters” movie is heading straight to Netflix . . . which is also the home of Tim Burton’s upcoming “Addams Family” series, “Wednesday”. Which is interesting, because the original “Munsters” and “Addams Family” ran against each other on network TV from 1964 to 1966.Rob posted some pictures from an old “TV Guide” that previewed the 1964 – ’65 season, and said, quote, “This fall we are gonna spook-out like it’s 1964! “Yep, THE MUNSTERS and THE ADDAMS FAMILY are returning to the boob tube at the same time courtesy of @netflix.  It’s been 58 years since this clash of the titans first happened.  Perfect entertainment for your pumpkin carving party.” There’s no release date for either yet (LINK)

You love Maya Hawke as Robin on “Stranger Things”.  But she’s also a musician, and she reveals a lot more of herself in her new video. The song is called “Therese”, and right from the jump, the video warns you that it’s X-RATED.  Technically it’s not . . . but it’s definitely not safe for work. The plot involves Maya and some friends having an ORGY in the woods that gets broken up by police.  There’s plenty of nudity, and some action that looks like it COULD have been X-rated, if not for some creative work with light and shadow

Let’s see who has the skills to redo a song by Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, or The Supremes? Masterpiece Sound Studio is affiliated with Motown Records. The recording space is holding a contest to find the best cover of a classic Motown song.  Entrants will have ten songs to pick from. There are three top prizes, including a $25,000 grand prize. The winner also gets representation from Sony Music and possible licensing opportunities.  The deadline for entries is September 5th.

Singer Fred Durst announced Sunday that Limp Bizkit was canceling its entire European tour due to “personal health concerns”. Durst posted “For personal health concerns and based on medical advice given by my personal physician to take an immediate break from touring, Limp Bizkit will sadly have to postpone their 2022 UK and European tour. We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our loyal fans, promoters, and support staff. Stand by for further news.” The tour was supposed to kick off on August 1st.  Durst didn’t disclose specifics of his “personal health concerns”.

The world’s first Harry Styles college course is here.  And it’s happening at Texas State University next spring. The course is called “Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity: Identity, The Internet, and European Pop Culture”.  The professor said it’ll be like a history class.  His students will study Harry’s music and movies, and create their own podcast. And before you ask, yes, his 23-page proposal for the class was approved by a panel of professors.  So it’s legit. He said, quote, “As a historian, I want the class to see how the world has changed in the last 12 years, [and] how to put that into historical context, through the lens of Harry, and how they can learn from him and his art, activism, and philosophy.”

Ever since Eddie Van Halen died, there’s been talk of putting together a Van Halen tribute show, featuring the surviving members of the band and other guest musicians. But in a new interview, Wolfgang Van Halen said it hasn’t happened yet because there are, quote, “some people that make it very difficult to do anything when it comes to Van Halen.” He added, quote, “From my time in Van Halen, there was always some stuff that gets in the way from just making music and having a good time.  And, I think, that’s what happened.” Wolfgang did NOT want to name names, so the interviewer asked him if the problem was coming from, quote, “a certain singer with three initials” . . . meaning David Lee Roth. He said, quote, “Do your research on the history of Van Halen, and come to your conclusions.”

And finally – with both the Munsters and the Addams Family returning to TV (or streaming) I found a list of the worst TV Reboots that should have just been BOOTED off the TV immediately.

Here is a list of some that stuck out:

2003s Dragnet (cancelled after 2 seasons)

2005s Kojak with Ving Rhames (cancelled after 1 season)

In 2007 there was a show called the Bionic Woman (cancelled after 1 season)

2008’s Knight Rider (lasted a season and a ½)

Speaking of the Munsters a show called “Mockingbird Lane” from 2012 starring Jerry O’Connell almost got made. The pilot is out there.  Its bad.

That Matthew Perry Odd Couple reboot lasted two seasons but it was really really bad.

Remember the show Heroes?  Well in 2015 they tried to bring it back.  With a new cast.  And a new plot. And it didn’t last more than a season.

Here’s a weird one…a show that made it a bit…but still…shouldn’t have been made.  Just name this something else and its OK.  But the MacGyver reboot that was one from 2016-2021.

In 2018 they brought back Mad About You but people seemed to be more mad that they even tried to bring it back.

And finally – I’ve never seen it so I can’t judge but they say the new Magnum PI – which CBS cancelled and NBC picked up is a good show – but a terrible Magnum PI reboot

Yesterday we reported that Cameron Smith was super insulted after he won the British Open and was at a press conference to answer questions and he was asked a question from the press of all people about the rumors that he may join LIV golf in Saudi Arabia. Well now its been learned that Cameron Smith, #2 ranked golfer in the world and winner of The Open, is nearing a deal to join LIV Golf.

Of course, big names like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau have defied the PGA Tour and inked huge money deals to play in the new league. Smith, by far, would represent the highest-ranked player they’ve been able to lure over. Sources say they’d be shocked if the deal didn’t happen. As for the money Smith would receive, that’s not known … but obviously it’ll be significant.

Mickelson was reportedly paid $200 million to sign with LIV. DeChambeau’s contract was said to be around $125 million. All the big named players received huge deals.

Of course, the PGA Tour and LIV are in the midst of a full-on war with each other … as the upstart org. has persuaded some of the game’s biggest names with windfalls of cash. The Tour has responded by threatening to ban players who sign.

In fact, there was talk last week that LIV players may not be allowed to compete in the four Majors starting in 2023 … a move that’d be a huge blow to the golfers.

Not all of the biggest golfers have said “yes” to LIV. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy both turned down lucrative offers. Woods’s offer was said to be “high nine figures,” according to LIV CEO Greg Norman.

Smith — the 2022 Players Championship winner — won The Open by one stroke thanks to a brilliant round of golf on Sunday which was his first Major win.

Bring your fries and hot dogs Steelers fans…because it’s a big day for ya — the transition from Heinz Field is officially underway … with the stadium’s iconic giant ketchup bottles and signs started coming down yesterday.

Last week, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced they’re partnering with tech insurance company Acrisure for a 15-year naming rights deal … which will end the Heinz Field era after 20 years. Steelers Hall of Fame coach Bill Cowher likes the name change as well … adding,  “Pittsburgh will always be a very tough place to play.”

Well, 7,000+ Black and Gold fans disagree … and started a petition in hopes of halting the change.

Based on the quick action to remove all things ketchup from the building, it’s not looking good for their cause.

Sorry, Steelers fans.

It was an exciting home run derby last night at Dodger Stadium.  Here’s your winner.  (Juan Soto won after dueling it out with rookie Julio Rodriguez in a battle of the young bats.  Soto becomes the second youngest player ever to win the Derby. He is the second Washington Nationals player to win the event (Bryce Harper won in 2018) and first Dominican-born champion since Robinson Cano (2011). Now Pujols didn’t win the competition but he definitely won over a ton of folks watching. In his fifth and final appearance at the Home Run Derby, Pujols beat the event’s top seed in a tiebreaker and then went swing for swing with the eventual winner Juan Soto. Pujols, at 42, hit seven home runs in one minute to outdo Kyle Schwarber in the first round. Albert Pujols hit only 13 HRs in first round. He probably didn’t think he was he would swing again, but Kyle Schwarber hit only 13 HRs, forcing a one-minute swing-off. Definitely one for the ages: 42yo Albert Pujols is in the semis 21yo Julio Rodriguez in the finals.  This is his 11th All-Star appearance tonight. He first appeared in an All-Star Game, in 2001, it was Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero’s third. Pujols’ last All-Star Game is Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s second. And get this… Pujols debuted when Soto was 2, reigning Derby champ Pete Alonso was 6, and if you were paying attention a handful of fellow All-Stars this year had very similar stances to Pujols.

All-Star game starts tonight at 7 Central from LA. The American League has dominated the All-Star Game in recent years. They’ve won the last eight, 15 of the last 18 and 20 of the last 24 All-Star Games. That said, the all-time series is only 46-43-2 in favor of the AL.

Rob Gronkowski insists that he’s done with football. Those closest to him aren’t convinced.

First, it was his agent Drew Rosenhaus, who told ESPN’s Adam Schefter in June that “he wouldn’t be surprised if Rob comes back during the season or next season.” Now it’s Gronk’s girlfriend. Camille Kostek addressed her boyfriend’s retirement status while speaking for a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit feature published on Monday. She’s not buying it. Details about what she said on the blog: https://sports.yahoo.com/rob-gronkowskis-girlfriend-doesnt-believe-hell-stay-retired-220222806.html
