More news to be cautiously optimistic about on the testing and vaccine front: The FDA has cleared the first at-home test that gives you results in 30 minutes . . . and Pfizer’s vaccine was 95% effective in clinical trials with no serious side effects.
The big AstraZeneca vaccine trial had to hit pause last week after one person may have had a bad reaction. But they’re already back up and running. They decided it’s still safe, and the trial resumed on Saturday. So it shouldn’t cause a big delay.

Hulu’s “Animaniacs” revival seems to have taken a shot at JOHNNY DEPP . . . relating to his he-said / she-said legal battles with his ex, AMBER HEARD. It came during a song called “Reboot It”, which mocked Hollywood’s lack of originality. They mentioned sequels, and showed a fake movie poster with Johnny that said, quote, “Johnny 2: Telling Lies.” If it was meant as a shot at Johnny, it didn’t go over well with his fans, and the hashtag #BoycottWarnerBrothers started trending. There’s no comment from anyone at the show, but some people argue that it’s a reference to the children’s nursery rhyme-turned-meme, “Johny, Johny Yes Papa“. They say the episode was written back in 2018, and that meme was popular back then. But Johnny and Amber have been going at it since 2016, so it’s still possible that it had to do with the abuse allegations.

She says, quote, “I would never want to tell a story that really should be told by somebody who’s lived that experience. Having said that, it’s a slippery slope conversation because that means I could never play another straight character.” She adds, quote, “If you’re telling a story about a community and they’re not welcoming to you, then [eff] off. But if they are, and you’re becoming an ally . . . there’s nothing wrong with . . . helping each other tell stories.” And here’s the exclamation point: “My answer is [effing] think about what you’re doing! And there’s another one on the inside of my leg.” He adds, quote, “The bites, wow, last night was murder because of it. The itching too. On Monday, pictures and videos began to surface on social media of Martinez participating in a large gathering in the Dominican Republic where he was not complying with the country’s COVID-19 protocols which included social distancing and wearing masks. Missouri will now host Vanderbilt on Saturday, providing a rescheduled date for their Oct. 17 game that was postponed because of COVID-19 issues within the Vanderbilt program. The SEC said it will look into rescheduling Arkansas vs. Missouri and Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt.
The NFL updated its COVID-19 protocols to require players to use face masks on the sideline when they aren’t wearing their helmet or entering a game. The new rules will begin in Week 12, starting with the league’s three Thanksgiving Day games. The NFL said players who don’t follow the new mask guidelines could face discipline: “Clubs are required to enforce these rules. Violations by players and/or staff will result in accountability measures being imposed upon the Club. It is strongly recommended that each Club designate one or two individuals in the Bench Area to ensure compliance with these rules.”

Bengals coach Zac Taylor would not confirm the extent of the knee damage but said that Burrow will be out for the remainder of the 2020 season. In a tweet Sunday afternoon, Burrow said, “See ya next year,” suggesting his 2020 season was done. Cincinnati officially placed this year’s top overall draft pick on injured reserve Monday.
