(That was the 2017 “Radio Disney Music Awards”.) “This conservatorship killed my dreams . . . so all I have is hope and hope is the only thing in this world that is very hard to kill . . . yet people still try!!!!” And “If you don’t want to see my precious ass dancing in my living room or it’s not up to your standards . . . go read [an effing] book!!!!!” In an earlier post (link) she said, quote, “How dare the people you love the most say anything at all . . . did they even put a hand out to even lift me up at the TIME!!!??? “How dare you make it public that NOW you CARE . . . did you put your hand out when I was drowning???? Poor reviews, growing concerns over the Delta variant and new mask mandates (link) in L.A. County that took effect just before midnight on Saturday. (L.A. is the country’s largest moviegoing market. So how did Space Jam 2 do? It only scored the biggest opening for a family title in the pandemic-era. It beat last weeks #1 Black Widow (link) with a better-than-expected domestic debut of $31.7 million, ($150 million budget) from 3,956 theaters. Black Widow had a 67 percent decline, one of the biggest drops ever for a Marvel title, and the worst among the Marvel films released by Disney. The decline underscores that the box office recovery is slow and it is available in the home via Disney+ Premier Access (piracy is another problem).

After testing positive, the crew member was isolated while everyone else working on the series was tested. Bridgerton is produced in the U.K. where cases involving the Delta variant of coronavirus are currently surging with over 54,000 as of Saturday (link).
Fox new singing competition show “Alter Ego” will air after “Masked Singer”. Alanis Morissette, Will I Am and Grimes will be judges. Rocsi Diaz from “106 & Park” will host. Contestants perform as their “dream avatar” using motion capture and visual effects to become the performer they always wanted to be. So it’s “The Voice”, in that the judges don’t see the actual performers . . . and it’s the “Masked Singer”, because contestants perform in “costume”, although in this case, it’s a DIGITAL costume. .

Following Saturday’s incident in which a fan threw a baseball from the stands that hit Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo, Yankees manager Aaron Boone called for the fan to be thrown in jail. That hasn’t happened, but Major League Baseball stepped in to issue its own form of punishment with a lifetime ban. The Yankees and MLB will bar the fan from attending any MLB ballpark for life. The incident occurred just before the bottom of the sixth inning. Verdugo responded by angrily yelling at the stands as his teammates, umpires and stadium workers figured out who in the outfield threw the ball. Video shows fans in the stadium pointing out exactly who threw the ball. The fan was quickly found by security and removed from the ballpark.

Two South African soccer players have become the first athletes inside the Olympic Village to test positive for COVID-19, with the Tokyo Games opening on Friday. Organizers confirmed the positive tests on Sunday but didn’t identify the athletes other than to say they were non-Japanese. The South African Football Association later confirmed there were three COVID-19 cases in its delegation — two players and a video analyst. The South African soccer squad had been quarantined and was waiting for the results of further tests conducted on players and backroom staff on Sunday. South Africa is due to play Japan in its first game of the men’s soccer competition on Thursday at Tokyo Stadium.

The U.S. women’s Olympic team was in unfamiliar territory having dropped two exhibition games in a row for the first time in a decade. The Americans rebounded with a strong effort to beat Nigeria 93-62 on Sunday in the final pre-Olympic exhibition tune-up for both teams. On the Men’s side, they had lost to both Nigeria and Australia before picking up their first win. Yesterday they had a game against Spain and picked up the 83-76 win before heading to Tokyo. Collin Morikawa won the Open golf tournament on Sunday, finishing two shots ahead of Jordan Spieth. The 24-year-old came into the final day of the major a shot behind Louis Oosthuizen, but a run of three straight birdies on the back nine helped propel the American past the South African, who had topped the leaderboard over the tournament’s previous three days. Morikawa produced some steady and brilliant golf to finish 15-under par. In his first appearance at the British major, Morikawa became the first man to win both the PGA Championship and the Open on his debut at the tournaments
