Five Things to Look Forward to in October:

1.  Lots of sports:  The MLB playoffs get underway next week, with the World Series scheduled to begin at the end of the month.  The NHL season starts on October 12th . . . and the NBA starts up a week later on the 19th.

2.  A bunch of movies are hitting theaters and streaming services this month, including the latest Bond film “No Time to Die” . . . “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” . . . “Dune” . . . “Addams Family 2” . . . the 12th installment in the “Halloween” franchise, “Halloween Kills” . . . and the “Sopranos” prequel “The Many Saints of Newark”.

3.  Some TV premieres you might want on your radar include:  Season 18 of “The Bachelorette” . . . the series premiere of “CSI: Vegas” . . . Season 3 of the Netflix series “You” . . . and the series premiere of “Queens” on ABC.

There’s also the “iHeartRadio Music Festival” special airing on the CW this weekend . . . and the “BET Hip Hop Awards” coming up on Tuesday.

4.  Halloween, of course.  We’re expected to spend more than $10 BILLION on Halloween this year.  And the CDC has basically signed off on kids trick-or-treating.

5.  And here are a few more holidays:  TODAY is International Coffee Day and World Smile Day . . . Monday is National Taco Day and National Vodka Day . . . Indigenous Peoples’ Day is on the 11th . . . National No Bra Day is the 13th . . . and October 23rd is Slap Your Annoying Coworker Day.  Luckily for them it falls on a Saturday this year.

Remember when MARK HOPPUS had cancer? He shared that he is CANCER-FREE after being diagnosed in late April with Stage 4-A Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, the same cancer his mom beat.   He will still have to get scanned every six months but good news for him.

The first 10 fans in line got their first taste of Mom’s Spaghetti and it was hand-served by Eminem (LINK) himself. He worked the window handing out takeout boxes of spaghetti and taking selfies for only a few minutes before his entourage zoomed away in a pair of SUVs, chased Beatlemania-style by fans. Many had camped out since Wednesday morning. Shockingly fans can purchase Mom’s Spaghetti merch and Eminem memorabilia.

BRITNEY SPEARS won a huge victory in court when a judge granted her petition to suspend JAMIE SPEARS from his role as her conservator.  Effective IMMEDIATELY. He’d been doing it since 2008. Jamie’s attorney lobbied for the conservatorship to be ended entirely, and Britney’s lawyer accused him of wanting to, quote, “suppress evidence of his corruption.” There will be a hearing on terminating the conservatorship entirely on November 12th.   At this point, BRITNEY SPEARS is about one step away (LINK) from starting an OnlyFans.

Grimes (LINK) and Elon Musk are “semi-separated,”   Which led me to think that if  Cesar Millan and Elon Musk got together would he go by Elon Millan? Cesar btw very much denied that his dog killed Queen Latifah’s. He in fact says it’s a blatant lie.  Gymnast Lidia Matiss also claimed in the suit that Junior the dog  attacked her at his training facility where her mother worked at the time, Millan’s rep said, “This incident occurred over 4 years ago. “Two weeks ago, Ms. Mattiss’ counsel sent a letter demanding that Mr. Millan pay her $850,000 – or she would be going ‘to the press.’  Mr. Millan refused to respond to this threat, and this interview is the result.”  He added that Matiss was “well aware” of the risk and “repeatedly returned to his property and ranch after the incident.”

The Many Saints of Newark (LINK) is out today in theaters or on HBO MAX(A prequel to “The Sopranos”, starring Alessandro Nivola as Tony Soprano’s uncle, Dickie Moltisanti, who inspires young Tony to become a made man.  We lost James Gandolfini back in 2013, but his son Michael Gandolfini plays young Tony.  The cast also includes Leslie Odom Jr. from “Hamilton”, Billy Magnussen from “Stranger Things”, Jon Bernthal from “The Punisher”, and Ray Liotta from “Good Fellas”.

LARRY DAVID’s daughter says she’s disturbed by recent photos of her dad at a fashion show and the U.S. Open, seemingly not enjoying himself.

It is a good news bad news day for Seinfeld fans. Jerry DID mention the rumors of a show reunion saying that definitely wont happen. Same answer as always. They are happy with what they did and that’s that.  But the good news, especially for those ranking Netflix lower on the streaming pole…all nine seasons of Seinfeld hits Netflix today.

Check out a preview of JUDGE JUDY’s new streaming show, “Judy Justice”. Judy Justice’ premieres Nov. 1 on IMDb TV

Next year’s Super Bowl Half-Time Show lineup is here (LINK).  It’ll include Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige. Super Bowl 56 is February 13th at the new SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California . . . which is home to the Rams and Chargers. The show also serves as a bit of a homecoming . . .  Dre and Kendrick are both from Compton and Snoop is from Long Beach. Dre said, quote, “The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and to do it in my own backyard . . . will be one of the biggest thrills of my career.” Between the five performers . . . they have 43 Grammy awards and 19 Billboard Number 1 albums.

Disney+ has finally announced its premiere date for Star Wars’ The Book of Boba Fett. The show’s coming to the streaming channel on December 29th. The idea behind the timing is they think the series will keep current subscribers and bring in new ones this holiday season.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON sued Disney for putting “Black Widow” on Disney+, claiming they sacrificed its box office potential in order to benefit their new streaming service. I’ll assume a check was cut because all that has been settled. The terms weren’t disclosed, but both sides claim to be happy. Scarlett says, quote, “I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team.” And Disney says, quote, “[We] look forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney’s ‘Tower of Terror’.”

Maybe this is Mick Jagger’s thing on this tour. Remember there were a few Mick posts around town in St Louis during their stop here? Did he really go there etc? MICK JAGGER stopped by a North Carolina bar on Wednesday night and went . . . UNNOTICED. Mick shared a photo (LINK) where you can see there’s not a lot of people around. The co-owner of the bar said (LINK) that the couple to the right of Mick had floor tickets to last night’s ROLLING STONES show. Apparently he drops cash because there is no credit card receipt with Mick’s signature on it anywhere.

MILEY CYRUS is to host this year’s New Year’s Eve special, with “SNL” and the celebration will be from several cities over the course of the evening.  There’s talk that Miley could host it from Miami, rather than New York City. CARSON DALY has hosted NBC’s New Year’s celebrations since 2004 . . . with the exception of 2016.  There’s no word if he’ll be involved this year.

The Quest (LINK), Yes.  This is their 22nd album, but the first without ANY original members.  They will be going on tour in Europe in May.

After going viral for frontman Fred Durst’s new look over the summer, Limp Bizkit has finally released its new single “Dad Vibes”. The first new Limp Bizkit tune since 2014, More songs to come they said.

Here’s the “There I Ruined It” guy with an Oktoberfest version (LINK) of “Straight Outta Compton”.  Enjoy this polka with “street knowledge” lyrics.

Yesterday, the day after their 17 game win streak was snapped, the Cards took on the Brewers for the final game of their series.  And – with homers from Dylan Carlson from both sides of the plate, the Cards won yesterday afternoon 4-3.  Now they switch their focus to the Cubs for the final three games of the season.  Dakota Hudson gets the start for the Cardinals tonight.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:15PM.

The Cards announced that Adam Wainwright will pitch in game 163 of the MLB season.  The Cards will either be taking on the Giants or the Dodgers – whatever team finishes second in the NL West.  That game takes place on Wednesday at 7:10PM.

The Atlanta Braves clinched the NL East last night.  But they weren’t the only one celebrating. The Astros also won their division title.  But, there was a little more reason to celebrate in Houston.  In winning the AL West…the manager of the Astros…Dusty Baker has now won division titles with FIVE different teams.  The Giants in 97 & 2000, the Cubs in 03, the Reds in 2010 and 2012, the Nationals in 2016 & 2017 and now the Astros.  Pretty impressive.

If the season were to end today..the Cardinals WOULD play the Dodgers in the game 163…the Brewers would take on the Braves, and the Giants would be waiting in the wings.  Over in the AL, the Astros would play the White Sox, and the Yankees would take on the Red Sox.  The Rays would be waiting the winner of that Yankees/Red Sox game.

Tonight, the Blues are back in action.  They take on the Blackhawks in Chicago.  Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30PM.

Thursday Night Football‘s highly anticipated showdown between Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow ended up being decided by a buzzer-beater field goal. Cincinnati defeated the Jaguars, 24-21, after Burrow led four straight scoring drives in the second half after not scoring at all during the first. Tied 21-21 with 10 seconds to go when the teams lined up, all eyes fell to Bengals kicker Evan McPherson. He nailed it and Cincinnati picked up the win. Despite Jacksonville now losing 19 in a row, Lawrence starred on Thursday, completing 17 of 24 passes for 204 yards.

Bryson DeChambeau is on to the final round of the Professional Long Drivers Association World Championship after finishing tied for fourth in the third round of the tournament on Thursday. The top 16 will compete for the title tonight, with DeChambeau’s division starting at 5:45 p.m. DeChambeau finished in second place for his group on Tuesday and Wednesday and finished tied for fourth place yesterday.  Bryson’s longest drive yesterday was 412 feet with the help from some wind.

The Athletic says the Bears have signed an agreement to purchase the 326-acre Arlington International Racecourse property. Arlington just held its final horse race after 94 years of operation last weekend. This is a big step in moving the NFL team away from Soldier Field; the Bears said they had placed a bid on the property last June after alleging that the Chicago Park District refused to “engage in good faith discussions” about creating a sportsbook near Soldier Field. The office of the Chicago Mayor wrote in a statement “We are not surprised by this move. We remain committed to continuing the work to keep the team in Chicago and have advised the Bears that we remain open to discussions.” The Bears have a lease at Soldier Field until 2033 and could face an $84 million fine if the team breaks that lease before 2026.

The North Carolina Courage have fired coach Paul Riley in the wake of a report detailing former players’ accusations of sexual coercion spanning multiple teams and leagues and lasting more than a decade. The Courage said in a statement that following the “very serious allegations of misconduct” leveled against Riley, the club terminated his contract. One of the former players talked about the incident in which she alleges Riley coerced her into having sex with him and spending the night in his room. Both that player and another detailed another incident in 2015 when Riley led both of the Portland Thorns teammates to his hotel room after a night of drinking and pressured them to kiss each other as he watched. He also sent an unsolicited lurid picture of himself to both, they players said.
