Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, who moonlights as a member of Rihanna’s backing band, has taken the NFL to task for the lack of airtime given to the musicians during this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. Speaking to AXS TV, he acknowledged that Rihanna was the star of the show and that it was “amazing just to be a part of it,” but still asked, “Did you see that 1.5 milliseconds of me on screen? Did you get that?” He called it “pathetic” and added “[to] hell with the NFL for not giving any love to the band.”

The Bamboozle festival set for this coming weekend has been canceled after officials in Atlantic City, New Jersey refused to issue final permits. The lineup included Papa RoachLimp BizkitMotionless in WhiteBlackbear and Flyleaf. Refunds will be issued at the point of purchase.

Bachman-Turner Overdrive co-founding guitarist and vocalist, Tim Bachman passed away at age 71 from brain cancer. His son confirmed via Facebook over the weekend that he was surrounded by family.

Things seem to have gone from bad to worse for Crazy Town frontman Shifty Shellshock, whose real name is Seth Binzer,

Just two days after the band was kicked off their tour with Hed P.E. after Binzer got into an onstage fistfight with bandmate Bobby Reeves over not turning up for most of the show, Consequence of Sound reports that he was arrested and detained on Tuesday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for an alleged driving under the influence violation. Myrtle Beach is the same city where the fistfight took place.

To make matters even worse, he faced a similar charge in L.A. last year, though he was ultimately released. Shortly before this latest episode, Hed P.E. frontman Jared Gomes had expressed his concern over Binzer’s wellbeing on Instagram, saying, “Seth needs help. We can’t just sit by while he’s on the road battling demons to the death. He needs to get off the road and deal with [it].”

Over a decade ago, Binzer was notably featured on the MTV addiction recovery reality series Celebrity Rehab and Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House.

Do you remember how Michael Jackson had that pet chimpanzee back in the ’80s named Bubbles?  Well, he just celebrated his 40th birthday at a “retirement home” in Florida called the Center for Great Apes.

  • And they just threw a massive birthday party for him.
  • there was a cake that was frosted with mashed bananas, and they wrote his name in blueberries.
  • Bubbles even got PRESENTS, like a blanket with his photos on it.  The staff entertained him with DVDs of Michael, which may seem triggering . . . but they say he loves watching them, and remembers him.
    • Michael bought Bubbles as an infant in 1983 from a Texas research facility, but within six years, he became too big to keep as a pet, and was moved to a ranch in California.  He’s been at the retirement home since 2005.  (New York Post)

AND FINALLY:

“Entertainment Weekly” put together a list of sequels that ARE actually better than the original.  It won’t surprise you that 2017’s “Paddington 2” made the cut, after all it held a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes for some time.

Here are nine other superior sequels, in no particular order:

  1. “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back”,  1980
  1. “The Dark Knight”,  2008
  1. “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted”,  2012
  1. “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”,  1991
  2. “Toy Story 3”,  2010
  3. “Spider-Man 2”,  2004
  4. “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”,  2004

Sports Report 1

Mike Shannon passed away late Saturday night. He was 83. And I’m sure everyone around knows him from an incredible 5 decade run as a broadcaster with the Cardinals and more. But many like Mama Moon remember him as a Cardinal player as well. Shannon played nine seasons for the Cardinals, hitting a home run in each of the three World Series in which he played. He homered off New York’s Whitey Ford in his first World Series game, at Busch Stadium I in 1964. He homered in his final at-bat, off Detroit’s Mickey Lolich, in his 21st and last World Series game, in 1968 at Busch Stadium II. In between, he homered against Boston at Fenway Park in the 1967 World Series.

The Cardinals won two of those three World Series, in 1964 and ’67.

He joined the Cardinals’ promotional staff in 1971, and a year later, he moved to the team’s radio booth, where he stayed for exactly 50 seasons before retiring after the 2021 season. Along the way, he was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, in 1999, and became a restaurateur.

His most notable venture in that business was Mike Shannon’s Steaks and Seafood, which had two downtown locations that were within walking distance of either of the two Busch Stadium sites.

Shannon might have been the best high school athlete ever produced in the St. Louis area. While at CBC, Shannon was the Missouri high school player of the year in both football and basketball, believed to be the only time that has happened in state history.

Shannon is survived by sons Michael Jr. and Dan as well as daughters Patricia, Peg and Erin; his wife Lori, 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. His first wife, Judy, died in 2007. Final arrangements for Shannon have not been announced, but the Cardinals plan to honor him before their next home game — at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels

Cardinals gave up six walks and a wild pitch to squander the the lead Sunday and lose 6-3 at Dodger Stadium. O nly one of the Dodgers’ six runs scored on a hit. After being swept by the Dodgers, the Cardinals’ return to St. Louis for an off day having gone 2-8 on the three-city trip and 10-18 overall in April. They’ve tied a 116-year-old club record by being 10 games out of first place before May 1. The take on the Angels at Busch tomorrow at 645pm

The Portland Timbers found ways to exploit all sorts of flatness from our Stl CITY SC, dealing City its third loss of the season, 2-1, at CityPark. The team went 1-3-1 in its April MLS games which is a huge slip considering we were top of the west and had the most points in the league there for some of it. “We got what we deserved tonight,” said coach Bradley Carnell, who apologized to the crowd in his postgame news conference for the team’s lack of effort.
