Good news for Britney Spears After 13 years, her conservatorship is one step closer to ending. Her father and the conservator of her estate, Jamie Spears, filed a [etition yesterday to terminate the whole damn thing. It acknowledges that Spears has voiced her desire for the conservatorship to end, and “If Ms. Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance.” Spears’ new attorney, says that’s a big win but he also said that by filing, Jamie Spears seems to be trying to “avoid accountability and justice, including sitting for a sworn deposition and answering other discovery under oath.” Britney Spears has also made it clear she will not undergo a psychological evaluation as a condition of the conservatorship being dismantled, and Jamie Spears’ filing acknowledges that, and says probate code does not require such an evaluation. The judge in the case is expected to rule on the petition Sept. 29.
The producers behind Bob Ross: Happy Accidents (LINK), Betrayal, and Greed say they “never intended to set out and create a hit piece”. But Bob Ross Inc. says that although the film “accurately captured” the famed TV painter, it’s an “inaccurate and heavily slanted portrayal of our company.” The producers say they started the project because of being fans of Bob Ross but found some surprising things. When they found it difficult to convince people to talk on camera they knew it was going in a different direction. Most apparently feared being sued by the Bob Ross people. But in a public statement (LINK) Bob Ross Inc. says the filmmakers’ failed to offer them a proper chance to respond to allegations made in the documentary. Included among those are that the Kowalskis have improperly commercialized and profited from Ross’ image after seizing control of his name and likeness over time from his son, Steve Ross.

KANYE’s “Donda” sold 309,000 copies, is Kanye’s 10th #1, making him one of only SEVEN artists with at least that many. The others are the Beatles, Jay-Z, Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, Eminem, and Elvis. It’s also his 10th #1 in a row, which is a record he shares with Eminem. DRAKE will have HIS 10th #1 album next week with“Certified Lover Boy”, which should move between 575,000 and 625,000 units. Yesterday the Cardinals once again took on the Dodgers, and this time, Albert Pujols WAS in the lineup. Now – listen to the ovation that Albert got when they announced him to the plate in the first inning. And the fun with Albert didn’t stop there either. Now, it’s weird to talk about what the other team did…but…in all reality … that’s the only excitement for Cards fans yesterday. The Dodgers picked up the 7-2 win and continue to roll. Today, the two teams are at it again. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 and Adam Wainwright gets the start. Speaking of Waino…yesterday…in a video with his family…Wainwright announced his decision to pitch one more year next year.
Le’Veon Bell is signing with the Ravens practice squad. The addition of Bell comes after the Ravens lost a pair of running backs this offseason. J.K. Dobbins suffered a season-ending knee injury and Justice Hill went down with a torn Achilles. Bell ran just 63 times for 254 yards and two touchdowns in nine games with the Kansas City Chiefs last season. He then had a falling out with coach Andy Reid. Bell has a history with Baltimore after spending five seasons with its AFC North rival, Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Houston Texans are adding a veteran presence to their wide receiver room. Danny Amendola is signing with the AFC South team on a one-year, $2.5 million contract. Amendola is best known for his time on the New England Patriots, but he spent the past two years suiting up for the Lions. He also has stints on the St. Louis Rams and Miami Dolphins on his resume. Amendola is likely past his prime and will turn 36 years old this season, but he was still solid for the Lions during the 2020 campaign. He posted 46 catches for 602 yards after tallying 62 catches for 678 yards and one touchdown the prior year.
Former Washington Football Team and Broncos running back Clinton Portis plead guilty to conspiracy to committing health care fraud in a nationwide scheme that included more than a dozen former NFL players. The two-time Pro Bowler admitted to filing unlawful reimbursement claims in the Gene Upshaw NFL Player Health Reimbursement Account Plan. The program allows former players to pursue funds for out-of-pocket medical care expenses that were not covered by insurance. These expenses were collected by the former football players, their spouses and their dependents with each player granted a maximum of $350,000. Per the U.S. Justice Department, Portis allowed others to file false claims on his behalf over a two-month period, obtaining almost $100,000 dollars in benefits for medical equipment from the NFL’s plan. However, the 40-year-old never purchased the equipment. Portis is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 6.

U.S. men’s national team midfielder Weston McKennie was dismissed by coach Gregg Berhalter for breaking the team’s COVID-19 bubble on two separate occasions. ESPN said McKennie spent a night outside of the team’s COVID-19 bubble while he also reportedly brought an unauthorized individual to his hotel room on a separate evening. After starting in the USMNT’s scoreless draw with El Salvador to open World Cup qualifying, McKennie was suspended for a 1-1 draw with Canada in Nashville for violating the team’s COVID protocols. On Monday, Berhalter dismissed McKennie back to Italy, ruling him out for Wednesday’s qualifier in Honduras.
