Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s “Fortunate Son” has passed one-billion streams on Spotify. It’s the second John Fogerty CCR song to reach that mark this year — “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” hit it in March.

Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani have different co-parenting styles and Gavin says that’s giving their sons ‘incredible perspective.’ He was on a podcast and said, “We’re really different people…I don’t think there’s much similarity in the way we bring them up.” “Because that’s what’s important is to give them a wide view of things and we definitely have some particularly opposing views so I think it’d be really helpful for them to make their own minds as individuals.”

Live Nation and SeatGeek have committing to all-in pricing . . . which means that they will disclose the full price of your ticket up front, including all fees. Ticketmaster’s parent company Live Nation says, quote, “[We are] proud to provide fans with a better ticketing buying experience. We have thousands of crew working behind the scenes every day to help artists share their music live with fans, and we’ll continue advocating for innovations and reforms that protect that amazing connection.”  (LINK)

NEW IN THEATERS THIS WEEKEND:

The Flash  (PG-13)

TRAILER:

Ezra Miller returns as Barry Allen / The Flash.  When he uses his power to run back in time to save his mother from dying, there are unintended consequences. Barry accidentally creates a world without heroes, which leaves the planet defenseless when General Zod (played by Michael Shannon) appears. In order to defeat Zod, he teams up with his inexperienced younger self, and alternate versions of Batman (Michael Keaton), and Supergirl (played by Sasha Callefrom “The Young and the Restless”). There are also a few other fun cameos that we won’t spoil for you.

The Blackening (R)

TRAILER:

You know that outdated horror movie trope where the black character is often the first to die?  Well, this horror comedy pokes fun at that nonsense when seven black friends are trapped in a cabin with a masked killer. The killer demands the friends rank their degrees of blackness so he can decide which order to kill them.  It stars Grace Byersfrom “Empire”Jay Pharoah from “Saturday Night Live”, and Yvonne Orji from HBO’s “Insecure”.

Elemental(PG)

TRAILER:

– The latest Pixar movie follows an unlikely pair, a fire element named Ember Lumen, and a water element named Wade Ripple.  They meet when Wade is summoned to inspect a plumbing accident at Ember’s dad’s convenience store.

– After, Ember goes into Elemental City to find Wade to ask him to be lenient on some of her dad’s store violations.  The city is where fire, water, land, and air residents live together . . . and where they’ll fall in love.

– Ember is voiced by Leah Lewis, who you might know as George from the “Nancy Drew” TV series.  Wade is voiced by Mamoudou Athie, the guy who played Ramsay Cole in “Jurassic World: Dominion”.

Sports Report 1

Excitement had bubbled ahead of U.S.-Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals. There were red cards, overzealous challenges on the field,  brawls between fans up in the stands, homophobic chants, flying beverages, and 3 US goals as the Us Men’s National Team bossed its bitter rival, Mexico. It was the most lopsided U.S. win over Mexico ever and Christian Pulisic, “Captain America” himself, scored the first two goals. At one point during a bit of a brawl Mckinnie’s shirt was nearly ripped off him and kinda torn to bits. Unfortunate that such a win would be so overshadowed by all the mayhem but hey there was something for everyone in this game I guess. A month after losing a quarterback recruit to Nebraska, Missouri secured a verbal commitment from another 2024 QB on Thursday, adding a pledge from three-star prospect Aidan Glover, who announced his commitment on social media. The Collierville, Tennessee, native became Mizzou’s third verbal commitment for 2024. He’s rated the No. 10 dual threat quarterback in his recruiting class by Rivals.com and No. 66 quarterback overall by 247Sports.com’s national composite. Mizzou still has the fewest 2024 commitments among SEC teams. Mizzou football lands commitment from 2024 QB Aidan Glover (LINK)

There’s a great article on this on stltoday.com How much do you think the XFL made this last year under the new owners? Well, we know that the Battlehawks led the XFL in attendance and television ratings, but that didn’t keep the league from reportedly losing about $60 million this year. But Forbes said that the XFL projects it will have $100 million in revenue next season.

“This is not just an endeavor that’s going to fill up a portfolio and one day we flip it and we’re out,” Johnson told Forbes. “This is legacy. This is the long game.” In addition to St. Louis, this year’s version of the XFL had teams in Washington, D.C., Seattle, Las Vegas, Houston, San Antonio, Orlando and Arlington, Texas. Average attendance ranged from 35,104 in St. Louis to 6,028 in Vegas. Orlando also averaged less than 10,000 fans (6,028).

The Battlehawks’ five games accounted for the five most-attended contests across the league and more than doubled the 14,983 that runner-up Seattle attracted. So a logical next move for the XFL would seem to be to try to enter other markets such as St. Louis that the NFL has abandoned in recent years (San Diego and Oakland).
