64 year old SINBAD is recovering from a stroke. There’s no word when it happened or how serious it was. His family announced it yesterday, adding, quote, “Sinbad is a light source of love and joy for many generations. While he is beginning his road to recovery, we are faithful and optimistic that he will bring laughter into our hearts soon.” Sinbad’s recent work includes the sitcom.
Remember Jeff Ross was accused of statutory rape of a 15 year old female? He says she is trying to extort him and he is building his case. He filed a defamation suit against Jessica Radtke, who alleged Ross began having a sexual relationship with her in 1999. Ross admits they were co workers at a comedy club, and he did have a consensual relationship with her … but not until 2002, when she was an adult. Ross says all of her accusations of having sex with her when she was a minor are “completely false.” Remember she created a Facebook page in late 2019 called “Iwas15hewas33,” which he says was done to defame him and get attention. She claims he wanted to get married as well. Ross says he has multiple witnesses to corroborate him not dating Radtke until she was 18. According to Ross’ attorney her own father, mother, brother, ex-fiancé, former best friends and others have documented proof of her lying and are supporting Jeff in this case. This lawsuit will clear Jeff’s name and hopefully stop others from continuing to be wrongfully accused by the defendant.”
Nathan Apodaca — the viral Fleetwood Mac “Dreams” skateboarder just bought in cash a $320,000 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom house in Idaho Falls. We’re told Nathan gets the keys to the house next week and he’s still in shock over the purchase. He was living in an RV with no running water. The RV was parked in front of his brother’s house, where he’d use the shower and toilet. 11 million views later donations started pouring in from strangers all over the place. His merch also started selling like crazy. He had said he wanted to save up for a new ride and RV … but Ocean Spray gifted him a truck. The home has enough room for him and his family … his new fiancée, Estela Chavez and his 2 daughters and stepson — 15-year-old Angelia, 14-year-old Makyla and 15-year-old stepson Andreas Chavez. Oh and $40,000 in new teeth.
WOLFGANG VAN HALEN released a song called Distance yeaterday. It is a musical tribute to his dad and it’s his debut. And the video is old home movies of Eddie being an AMAZING dad to Wolfgang. It ends with a voicemail Eddie left for his son, praising the song and saying, quote, “I’m so proud of you and I love you so much. Call me if you get a chance, I just want to hear your voice.” Wolfgang was also on “Howard Stern” yesterday, and he said there were talks to do a massive VAN HALEN reunion that would have brought back EVERYBODY . . . David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, and even Gary Cherone. He said it was a bug he’d been putting in his dad’s ear since 2015. The idea was that Wolfgang would OPEN for them, playing his own music. And as the years went by, his dad warmed up to the idea. He says, they jokingly called it the “Kitchen Sink Tour”. Wolfgang also told Howard that Eddie was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2017, and given six months to live. But those experimental treatments he was getting in Germany added years to his life. Unfortunately, he found out after a motorcycle accident last year that he also had a brain tumor. And from there, quote, “[stuff] kept stacking up and stacking up. It just never let up.”
A year and a half ago, SCOOTER BRAUN became an enemy to 15-year-old girls everywhere by purchasing the Big Machine Label Group . . . which included TAYLOR SWIFT’s first six albums. He paid about $300 million for it. Well, he just turned around and sold the Taylor Swift music, by itself, in a deal supposedly worth more than $300 million. So how does Taylor feel about this? Once again, she’s NOT happy. She says she’s been trying to buy back her masters for the past year, but Braun made silly demands that she couldn’t meet. The company that bought Taylor’s music is called Shamrock Holdings. They reached out to Taylor after the sale, hoping to work with her. But under the terms of the sale, Braun still profits off those masters for several more years. So Taylor won’t work with Shamrock. Instead, she’s continuing with her original plan of re-recording her earlier music so she can regain control of it. She says the process has been, quote, “both exciting and creatively fulfilling.”
Universal Pictures and Dwayne Johnson are looking to relaunch a new Scorpion King movie. Johnson will produce. With Johnson booked through 2022, the studio will look to tap a new actor to play the action hero as well as a director. It’s likely he won’t appear in the movie but given how important the property is to Johnson and the studio, there is always a possibility he could make an appearance when this film does finally get into production.
Anyone still watching 13 Reasons Why? Season 4 I guess wrapped this past summer. That is produced by Selena Gomez. Ms. Gomez now will make whats probably her biggest movie so far. She is going to play mountaineer Silvia Vásquez-Lavado. Its based on Silvia’s memoir after she became the first openly gay woman to scale all Seven Summits, the highest points on every continent, and the first Peruvian woman to climb Mt. Everest. She is a respected survivor of abuse as well. She is the founder of Courageous Girls, a nonprofit, which helps survivors of childhood sexual violence heal through mountain climbing.
ALEC BALDWIN and KELSEY GRAMMER are doing a show together soon. Its a sitcom with no working title about “three guys who were roommates in their 20s until their egos drove them apart, and who reunite decades later for one more run at the lives they’ve always wanted.” It’s unclear who the third guy will be . . . but the show is being developed by Chris Lloyd, who co-created “Modern Family”. The show will air on ABC, and is set to premiere NEXT fall.
“Saturday Night Live” boss LORNE MICHAELS was NOT cool with JOHN BELUSHI’s drug use. In an upcoming documentary called “Belushi“, Lorne talks about one time when Belushi showed up BLITZED before a show in February of 1979. Quote, “He’d been out with Ronnie Wood [of the Rolling Stones] and he was a mess. He was coughing, he looked terrible and the doctor says, ‘John can’t go on,’ and I was somewhere between rage and very little sympathy.” “So I said, ‘What happens if he does it?’ He says, ‘Well, he could die?’ And I said, ‘What are the odds of that?’ And he said, ’50/50,’ and I said, ‘I can live with that.'” Belushi did appear on the episode, which was hosted by Kate Jackson from “Charlie’s Angels”. He died three years later, in 1982, from a mixture of heroin and cocaine. He was 33. The documentary will premiere on Showtime on November 22nd
Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood are bringing the Christmas with an all-new hour long virtual show, titled Garth & Trisha Live! A Holiday Concert Event that will air live on Sunday, Dec. 20 on CBS and stream simultaneously on CBS All Access and telecast once again on CBS later that night. In the coming weeks, fans will be able to submit their song requests virtually. Brooks will provide instructions for submission during the upcoming episodes of his weekly Facebook Live show Inside Studio G.
CBS is taking a big step toward diversity. From here on out, all of its unscripted shows have to have casts that are 50% NON-WHITE. That includes “Survivor”, “Big Brother”, and “Love Island”. Also, CBS will commit at least 25% of its annual unscripted budget to projects created or co-created by minorities . . . and they want at least 40% representation in writers’ rooms.
“The Bachelor” is entering its 25th season . . . and it’s been surprisingly steady in the ratings for most of its run. Which always has me wondering: Who’s watching this show? Well, here’s some data on that . . .According to a new survey, the show’s main fanbase is women, which isn’t shocking. 77% are female, 23% are male. And three quarters of the viewers are WHITE. About 12% are Hispanic, and 7% are Black. It’s possible that those demographics shift a bit this season, when the show will feature Matt James, who is black. Interestingly, most men who watch “The Bachelor” are UNDER the age of 45 . . . while most of the women who watch it are 45 and OLDER. In fact, 26% of the women who watch it are older than 65.
Here are some celebrities and their magic numbers, so you can compare them to yours . . .

- Russell Brand: Around 1,000 . . . including nine in ONE NIGHT in Ireland.
- Charlie Sheen: 5,000, although that was a “wild guess.”

The Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears are headed in opposite directions. Minnesota won its third straight game and improved to 4-5 on the season with a 19-13 victory over the Bears. And…even worse news for the Bears…QB Nick Foles suffered an apparent injury and was carted off the field during Monday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Head coach Matt Nagy provided an update after the game and said his leg and hip were being evaluated.
The charges related to Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa’s arrest for driving while intoxicated were refiled Monday in Arizona. A spokesperson for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office confirmed the charges were refiled after the MCAO granted a motion to dismiss them on Friday. Apparently the case was initially misfiled, which led to the dismissal and refiling. What do the White Sox have to say about it all? They finally released a statement saying: “Tony deserves all the assumptions and protections granted to everyone in a court of law, especially while this is a pending matter. Once his case reaches resolution in the courts, we will have more to say. The White Sox understand the seriousness of these charges.”
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown allegedly destroyed a security camera and threw a bicycle at a security guard shack in the Florida gated community in which he lives. In October, police found enough to charge Brown with criminal mischief, but the president of the homeowners association declined to pursue charges. The police report said the HOA President was concerned Brown “may retaliate against her employees.” The NFL has yet to comment on the matter, though it is aware of the situation. Brown grew upset when one of his guests was denied entry to the community until the seven-time Pro Bowler arrived at the gate to escort the guest around the premises. The situation repeated itself shortly thereafter, and Brown “threw his bicycle at the guard gate arm.”
Even though he spent the 2020 season off of the field, Kansas City Chiefs offensive guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif still made his way into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Duvernay-Tardif, who graduated from McGill University School of Medicine in 2018, has been working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic at a long-term care facility in his native Quebec since winning the Super Bowl with the Chiefs. Now, months after becoming the first player to opt out of the 2020 NFL season, his scrubs and lab coat are enshrined in Canton.
The Padres signed starting pitcher Mike Clevinger to a two-year contract extension on Monday. Clevinger’s extension will take him through the 2022 season. He will also undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday, which will likely sideline him for all of 2021. Clevinger’s contract is worth $11.5 million over two years. The 29-year-old posted a 2.84 ERA in four starts with the Padres in 2020. He suffered an elbow injury in late September before being removed after just one inning in the 2020 NLDS.
Lots of trades going down in the NBA right now…here are some of the bigger moves or soon to be moves…
James Harden appears to be dead set on working out a move away from the Houston Rockets. The Rockets offered Harden a two-year, $103 million extension in addition to the $132.9 million he’s owed over the next three seasons. However, the eight-time All-Star said no thanks to Houston and “made it clear to ownership that he’s singularly focused on a trade to the Brooklyn Nets.” Chris Paul is on the move again, as the Oklahoma City Thunder announced Monday that they have traded the veteran to the Phoenix Suns. It ended up being a 5 player, plus a draft pick move. We will put a link on the blog of a few other moves that went down yesterday.
LSU’s football program could be in some big time trouble. Yesterday, USA Today published a thorough investigation into LSU, which seems to be no stranger turning a blind eye to women on campus. According to USA Today, in the four years that Ed Orgeron has been head coach, no fewer than nine members of his Tigers program have been reported to police for sexual misconduct and dating violence. Not surprisingly, Orgeron and LSU seemed especially protective of running back Derrius Guice (Gice). Documents show that Guice was accused of rape by two women and a third said he took semi-nude photos without her permission, which he sent to at least one other person. Orgeron was not the head coach when the first known accusation against Guice was made, but he was a member of the coaching staff. He was named head coach about five months before the second rape allegation against Guice, which came in April 2017. In all three cases, USA Today writes, LSU officials either doubted the women’s stories, did not investigate or did not call the police.
And finally — The NHL and Adidas made some history, revealing new alternate jerseys for every team in the league. They’re called Reverse Retro and while the jerseys are all over the place…there are some that are really awesome. The Hockey News ranked all 31 reverse retro jerseys. Here are some highlights: The writers favorite of all the jerseys is the Colorado/Quebec mash up jersey. Its Avalanche colors with a sprinkle of some powder blue and the old school Nordiques logo. #2 is the Purple and Gold Kings throwback. #3 is the green Devils jersey. #4 is the royal blue Canadians flip. And #5 is the Hurricanes paying tribute to the Whalers. The Blues jersey – in case you missed it – is the flip of the clown jerseys. They are primarily red with yellow stripes and a blue bottom. That fell at #9 on this list. The writers least favorite? The mostly white Detroit Red Wings jersey. The reason its last? The writer says there is so much history they could have gone from but instead they just went boring and basic. See them here
