Season 3 episode 5 of School House Rock gave us this gem. One of the coolest songs from my childhood that was entertaining enough to keep you from realizing you are learning too. Im Just a Bill.  I can still see the video of the bill sitting on the steps at the capital. Simpler times. A grammy nominated jazz guy named Dave Frishberg gave us that song in 1976. He died.  He wrote two other “Schoolhouse Rock” songs that nobody remembers:  “$7.50 Once a Week and “Walkin’ On Wall Street. Frishberg was 88 years old. Jack Sheldon did the vocals (LINK)

TRAVIS SCOTT is facing a new lawsuit over the Astroworld tragedy, and this one is for $2 BILLION.  The suit represents 282 people who attended the show, but the lawyer who filed it says 120 more people have contacted him seeking representation. Travis isn’t the only defendant.  The suit also names DRAKE, Live Nation, Houston’s NRG Stadium, Apple Music, and Scott’s company, Cactus Jack Productions. The attorney says, quote, “The defendants stood to make an exorbitant amount of money off of this event, and they still chose to cut corners, cut costs, and put attendees at risk . . . what happened at Astroworld cannot happen again (LINK)”

According to Entertainment Tonight, the Internal Revenue Service has sued actor/comedian Chris Tucker for $9.6 million in back taxes.  The IRS is looking all the way back to 2002, the peak of Tucker’s movie career. Tucker started to pay the money off in monthly installments, but that didn’t work out.

To help with your FriDave do you want to see Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis play a swim coach in the Foo Fighters’ new video, “Love Dies Young”. The video shows Sudeikis giving the lets do this talk to synchronized swimmers. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony airs this Saturday night on HBO and HBO Max.  The Fighters were inducted into the Class of 2021 by Paul McCartney.

MARTIN SCORSESE must be a total Deadhead because he’s working on ANOTHER GRATEFUL DEAD project.  Back in 2017, he executive produced a documentary on them called “Long Strange Trip”. And now, Martin has teamed up with Apple to direct a biopic about the band.  So far, all we know is that JONAH HILL is going to play lead singer JERRY GARCIA. Jerry passed away in 1995 from a heart attack at a rehab clinic. It’s not clear what part of the band’s career the film will focus on.  But it WILL include their music.  Considering who they are as a band, we can probably expect it to be groovy (LINK)

Remember this  In Season 4 of “The Sopranos”, Carmine Lupertazzi Sr. tells Tony Soprano, quote, “John said he went to a cookout at your house.  A don doesn’t wear shorts.” Well, that line came from a disturbing phone call JAMES GANDOLFINI got in real life. In the new “Sopranos” book “Woke Up This Morning”, MICHAEL IMPERIOLI says, quote, “Gandolfini got a call in the middle of the night on his cell phone, it was an unknown number.  He answers the phone, ‘Hello,’ and the guy on the other line says, ‘Hello,’ and then nobody’s talking. “The guy doesn’t identify himself.  Guy finally says, ‘Listen, you’re a great actor, we like what you’re doing, but you got to know one thing: A don never wears shorts.’  And click, the guy hung up.” Gandolfini was understandably a little freaked out about the call . . . but he still brought it to the show’s writers, and let them use it (LINK)

One theory as to why JANET JACKSON suffered more damage than JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE from the 2004 Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction was CBS President Les Moonves. “Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson” claims in 2004, both the Super Bowl and the “Grammys” aired on CBS.  After the Super Bowl, both Janet and Justin issued public apologies.  But Moonves wasn’t satisfied, and he banned both of them from the upcoming “Grammys”. The only way for them to get back into his good graces was to meet with him and personally apologize.  Justin did, and he ended up at the “Grammys”, winning several awards and performing twice. Janet did not, and Moonves made it his mission to RUIN her. “Malfunction” debuts tomorrow night on FX and Hulu (LINK)

If you could attend a celebrity’s holiday party, whose would it be?  Samsonite . . . you know, the luggage company . . . surveyed a little over 2,000 people to see who’d they choose. 73% of them said they’d love to attend an A-lister’s party.  And the most popular choice, with 38%, is THE ROCK.  He was followed by WILL SMITH with 30%, while LADY GAGA and BETTY WHITE were tied for third with 28%. The survey also revealed who people thought would be the best celebrity couple to have as guests for Thanksgiving.  No surprise here . . . the #1 choice is TOM HANKS and RITA WILSON with 31% of the vote. GOLDIE HAWN and KURT RUSSELL tied with TIM MCCGRAW and FAITH HILL at 28% each.  And BEYONCE and JAY-Z tied with JENNIFER LOPEZ and BEN AFFLECK with 27% (LINK)

We now know the MVP in the AL and NL.  In the AL – it was a unanimous vote for 2-way superstar Shohei Ohtani.  Despite the Angels being under .500, Ohtani still picked up 29 of 30 first place votes.  In the NL things were a little closer.  Harper picked up 17 of 30 first place votes and Juan Soto was a not so distant second.

The Patriots made easy work of the Falcons last night in Atlanta.  Mac Jones throw for over 200 yards and 2 touchdowns while New Englands defense was lights out as they won 25-0.  The Falcons have been outscored 68-3 in their past two games.  We will go over some of our NFL PICKS in a second here….but…

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown has been accused of obtaining a fake COVID-19 vaccination card. According to Steven Ruiz — a former personal chef for the wide receiver — Brown had his girlfriend, model Cydney Moreau, reach out to Ruiz over the summer to obtain a fake vaccination card that said Brown had received the Johnson & Johnson shot. According to text messages provided by Ruiz, Moreau offered $500 for a fake card. Ruiz said he was unable to acquire a fake card for Brown, but he added that the wide receiver a few weeks later showed him ones he had for himself and Moreau that he said he had purchased. Brown reportedly was unwilling to get the vaccine because of possible side effects. Ruiz said he went public with the accusation after Brown failed to pay $10,000 owed to him.

Houston Texans quarterback Jeff Driskel is pulling a Tim Tebow.  Texans tight ends coach Andy Bischoff said that Driskel is making the switch to tight end, adding that the 28-year-old is “a rare athlete.” Houston believes Driskel has “the speed and size” to successfully make the switch. Driskel could contribute on special teams but wouldn’t predict when the former sixth-round pick would be active. Driskel is in the tight end room full time and is also in special teams meetings.

President Joe Biden said Thursday a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China is “something we’re considering,”. Athletes would still be able to compete in the games, but a diplomatic boycott would keep American dignitaries from attending. There have been calls for a boycott of the Olympics amid reported human rights violations in China. The International Olympic Committee has said that it will “remain neutral” on the issue. The Beijing Olympics are scheduled to begin on Feb. 4, 2022. The White House press secretary said there is no timeline for Biden’s decision on a potential boycott.

The Women’s Tennis Association chair and chief executive Steve Simon told CNN on Thursday that he is “willing to pull our business” out of China and lose millions if Peng Shuai’s (Pung Sh-why) allegations are not fully investigated and she is not spoken with directly.  The WTA has 10 events scheduled in China for 2022, including the Finals. The country is scheduled to host that specific event through 2028. If you don’t know the story….at the beginning of this month, On Peng posted a lengthy message, accusing a former senior Chinese vice premier and high-ranking member of the Chinese Communist Party of sexual assault, three years earlier. Peng said that he had an on-off extramarital affair with her.  Since her accusation she has not communicated on social media or been seen. On Wednesday – China Global Television Network released an email allegedly written by Peng to chief executive of WTA Steve Simon, which stated that she was resting at home and that her allegation of sexual assault was not true, and that she was not missing. The email also criticized the WTA for releasing what it claimed was unverified information about Peng without her consent.  The authenticity of the email was cast in doubt with many pointing out that a typing cursor appears to be visible on the screenshot of the email. Responding in regard to the email, Simon stated that it only raised his concerns as to her safety and whereabouts.

Cameron Walker, a member of George Mason men’s basketball’s 2022 recruiting class, and one of his Milton High School (Ga.) teammates were arrested Wednesday on murder charges stemming from the October shooting of 24-year-old Connor Mediate. Walker, 17, and Jonathan Murray, 18, played in Milton’s game against Roswell on Wednesday. Police and SWAT arrested the pair later that night. Walker and Murray also face charges of criminal attempt to commit armed robbery. Mediate was “found unconscious in a pool of blood” in his apartment and declared dead at the scene after an unsuccessful attempt to revive him by first responders.
