Felony Rap In Alleged Sanitary Napkin Battery – theSmokingGun

A 29-year-old woman was arrested Monday evening after striking a hospital worker with a “used” feminine product that the suspect had removed from her pants, police report. Defendant Coffii Castellion sought treatment in the emergency room of the Mease Dunedin Hospital, which is about seven miles from her residence in Largo, a Tampa Bay suburb.

While in the hospital, cops say, Castellion swiped seven bathing cloths and ten sets of hospital slippers estimated to be worth a combined $10.79. That minor pilferage cost Castellion a felony rap since she has two prior theft convictions.

One of R. Kelly‘s alleged victims Faith Rodgers testified in front of a federal grand jury that could indict him for tax evasion and sex trafficking.  No way to know what Faith told the panel — federal grand jury proceedings are notoriously top secret — but she said before that Mr. Kelly gave her an STD and sued him last year for false imprisonment and sexual battery. Faith was also featured in that Lifetime docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly” … and afterward she claimed Kelly posted private photos of her and sent a notarized letter threatening to reveal details of her sex life in retaliation for her talking publicly. There are 2 Kelly probes currently underway in New York — one by the Eastern District and another by the Southern District plus another case the feds are building in Illinois. Next week witnesses will testifying for a federal grand jury in Illinois, where Kelly is being investigated for tax evasion, obstruction of justice and sex trafficking.  Kelly’s crisis manager, Darrell Johnson, says … “Mr. Kelly feels like the devil is working overtime in effort to try to destroy his musical legacy for selfish, personal enrichment. “Mr. Kelly is not where he wants to be in life at this present moment. He’s very confident that in the end he will be proven innocent.’’

Kevin Spacey’s legal strategy lately has been an attempt to make his sexual battery accuser’s name made public. Why I am not sure other than if Spacey’s name has to be public then so does the accuser’s name. The judge said to kick rocks. The motion was dismissed. So Kevin Spacey’s accuser’s name will remain John Doe. The accuser said he feared for his life following threats from Spacey’s fans. The plaintiff is suing Spacey for sexual battery, gender violence, battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment. He claims that the assault occurred in October of 2016, while giving him a massage at his home in Malibu. He is seeking unspecified damages.

I think this is great use of technology? When a suspect who looked a lot like a long-haired Woody Harrelson was caught on camera stealing beer from a CVS the NYPD’s facial-recognition system didn’t provide any matches. So a detective used a photo of Woody Harrelson in his role from Hunger Games in 2011. So instead of the pixelated security footage of the suspect, the detective used a high-quality photo of Harrelson and found 11 matches, including a man who was eventually arrested for the crime. This isn’t a first. Detectives also used a photo of New York Knick JR Smith to search for a man wanted for a Brooklyn assault. No comment yet from Harrelson.

This Sunday is the big “Game of Thrones” series finale . . . so don’t be surprised if you’re short-handed at work. Because according to a new poll, 10.7 MILLION people are gonna skip work, either by calling in sick or using a last-minute vacation day. But the big question remains:  Will those who watch Sunday’s finale be satisfied . . . or OUTRAGED? That petition to redo Season 8 with COMPETENT WRITERS passed 700,000 signatures last night . . . and now they’re shooting for a MILLION.

The “Saw” franchise jumped the shark years ago, which means it’s time for a reboot.  And who better to give us one than CHRIS ROCK?  Yes, THAT Chris Rock. He came up with the idea for the new flick, and he’s producing it, too.  He says, quote, “I’ve been a fan of ‘Saw’ since the first film in 2004.  I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place.” One of the other producers adds, quote, “When Chris Rock came to us and described in chilling detail his fantastic vision that reimagines and spins off the world of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, we were all-in.” If the idea of a comedian revamping a horror franchise seems familiar to you, that’s because it JUST HAPPENED, when DANNY MCBRIDE wrote and produced the 2018 “Halloween” sequel.

There have been rumors about ROBERT PATTINSON possibly being the next Batman for months . . . and now, he’s reportedly the FRONTRUNNER for the gig. Not sure if there’s an offer on the table or who else is on the short list. Other RUMORED contenders have included Armie Hammer, Nicholas Hoult, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The movie is set to hit theaters in June of 2021.

You might love ELTON JOHN’s music . . . but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should take them to see “Rocketman”.  This movie goes a little deeper into its subject’s sexuality than “Bohemian Rhapsody” did. According to the “Hollywood Reporter”, the film includes, quote, “Multiple scenes between Taron Egerton, who plays Elton, and Richard Madden, portraying his first gay lover. “There were multiple scenes that included men kissing, simulated other things and a steamy bedroom scene with both Egerton and Madden unclothed.” Just giving you a heads up.  I don’t want your next Thanksgiving to be any more uncomfortable than it needs to be.

The Big Bang Theory came to a close after 12 seasons on Thursday night, leaving fans with happy news for the beloved characters. At the beginning of the tearjerker episode, Sheldon and Amy found out they won the Nobel Prize for Physics. After 12 seasons something finally got fixed! And then Penny reveals that she’s pregnant. The show closed appropriately with the gang back at the apartment, eating takeout.

Quick preview of Kayne West who will be on Letterman’s Netflix show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.”  in the trailer, he talks about being bipolar. Other guests this time around include Ellen, Tiffany Haddish, Melinda Gates, and Lewis Hamilton. It hits Netflix May 31st

I believe tomorrow will be the second anniversary of the passing of singer Chris Cornell. Soundgarden will put out a new live album and concert film this summer called Soundgarden: Live from the Artists Den. It’s footage from a 2013 performance at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. That was the final date of their U.S. winter tour in support of final album King Animal. It will be released on July 26 on vinyl, Blu-Ray and as two-CD set. A Super Deluxe box set will also be available. Vicky Cornell, the widow of late frontman Chris Cornell, says in a statement, “This live show was really special, and I know how much fun Chris had that night. The idea of giving fans the opportunity to experience it in its entirety is something I’m proud to share with them.” The musician died by suicide in May 2017 at age 52.

The CW revealed its schedule for the upcoming TV season. There’s “Batwoman starring Ruby Rose as DC Comics heroine Kate Kane . . . a.k.a. Batwoman.  The character will become TV’s first live-action lesbian superhero, at least in a leading role.  They did cancel “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”“iZombie”, and “Jane the Virgin”.  And they renewed “Arrow”and “Supernatural” for one more season. Renewed were “Charmed”“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”“The Flash”“Riverdale”“Roswell, New Mexico”, and “Supergirl”.

CBS released their schedule for the upcoming TV season, and

there’s a comedy with Billy Gardell from Mike and Molly called “Bob (Hearts) Abishola“, which is about a man who suffers a heart attack and falls in love with his nurse, a Nigerian immigrant named Abishola.

-There’s a sitcom with Pauly Perrette called “Broke” Pauly is a single mom scraping by then her sister who married wealthy has to move in when rich husband is cut off from his trust fund.

-There’s “Carol’s Second Act“, a sitcom where Patricia Heaton from Everybody Loves Ramon plays a mom who retires from teaching after raising her two children . . . and then decides to launch a late-in-life career as a DOCTOR. The CBS shows not coming back are “The Big Bang Theory”“Elementary”“Fam”“Happy Together”“Life in Pieces”“Murphy Brown”“The Red Line”, and “Salvation”.

There are a few CBS shows still in limbo:  “The Code”“Million Dollar Mile”“Ransom”“Whistleblower”, and “The World’s Best”.

Well, the Blues will look to rebound from a very controversial loss on Wednesday as they take on the Sharks for Game 4 of the Western Conference Final as the Sharks and Blues faceoff at Enterprise Center at 7PM tonight.  Vince Dunn is still listed as day-to-day as he took a puck to the face in Game 3 and was out for the majority of the game.  Game 5 is Sunday at 2PM in San Jose.

According to CBS Sports, one of the NHL execs said that the referees DID miss the hand pass call on Wednesday that led to the Sharks overtime goal.  He went on to say that it should have been a whistle.  He said that it’s unfair that the game ended the way it did…the wrong way.  Also coming out of NHL HQ, its being reported that all 4 on-ice officials from Wednesday’s game…are being removed from the remainder of the playoffs.  If this is TRUE, that means there will be a total of 4 refs and 2 linesmen who have been eliminated for errors that have solely benefitted the San Jose Sharks.

Doug Armstrong of the St. Louis Blues, is one of three finalists for the NHL General Manager of the Year Award. The award is presented annually “to the general manager who best excelled at his role during the regular season.” It’s voted on by the League’s 31 GMs and a panel of NHL executives and print and broadcast media after the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The winner will be announced at the 2019 NHL Awards on June 19. Armstrong has the Blues in the Western Conference Final for the second time in his nine seasons as GM. This season they started 7-9-3 and Armstrong promoted Craig Berube to replace Mike Yeo as coach. The Blues slipped to last in the NHL standings on Jan. 3, but Armstrong kept the roster intact and St. Louis went 30-10-5 the rest of the season to finish third in the Central Division. The Blues have reached the playoffs seven times under Armstrong.  The GMs from Boston and Carolina are also up for the honors.

Even without Zdeno Chara for Game 4, the Boston Bruins made easy work of the Carolina Hurricanes and picked up the sweep in the Eastern Conference Final.  4-0 final score.  Chara did not play, but he did dress and skate out to celebrate with the team after they won.  Now, the Bruins will wait for the winner of the Blues/Sharks series to see who will play for the Stanley Cup.

The Cardinals got stomped by the Braves last night in Atlanta.  10-2 final score.  Adam Wainwright picked up his 4th loss of the year.  The Cardinals now head to Texas for a series with the Rangers.  First pitch today is scheduled at 7:05PM and Miles Mikolas gets the start.

Over in the NBA, the Golden State Warriors rallied back to take a 2-0 series lead against the Trail Blazers after they picked up a 114-111 win in game 2.  Tonight it’s game 2 between the Raptors and the Bucks.  Milwaukee is up 1-0 in that series.  Tip off is at 7:30PM.

The Warriors said yesterday that Kevin Durant will miss Games 3 and 4 of the Western Conference finals against Trail Blazers as he continues to recover from a strained right calf. The two-time NBA Finals MVP was re-evaluated before last night’s game, and will be re-examined in a week. That timing means he likely won’t be able to return to play until the NBA Finals.

American Brooks Koepka is at the top of the leaderboard after the first round of the PGA Championship Thursday at Bethpage Black Golf Course on Long Island, New York. Koepka, who’s looking to repeat after winning the PGA Championship last year, shot a 7-under 63 to break the course record and become the first player to shoot 63 in the same major twice. After winning the Masters last month, his first major since 2008, Tiger Woods ended the first round yesterday at 2-over 72, nine shots behind Koepka.

The NFL announced yesterday that Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson has been suspended for the first six games of the 2019 season for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Details of what substance was involved weren’t disclosed. The Cardinals said in a statement: “Patrick recognizes how disappointing this is for everyone in the organization as well as our fans. As we all do, he understands that regardless of intent he is ultimately responsible for everything he puts in his body.”

Yesterday at Busch that United States Women’s National Team won their tune-up match against New Zealand 5-0.  Just over 35,000 people attended the match.  Tobin Heath, Rose Lavelle, Carli Lloyd, and Sam Mewis all scored for the US.  Lloyd actually scored twice in the win.  Next up for the US, a match against Mexico on the 26th.

NASCAR is in Charlotte this weekend.  The Monster Energy Series heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway tomorrow night.  Race time is scheduled for 5PM

And here’s a fun little list going into the weekend.  USA TODAY ranked the Top 12 WORST FIRST pitches of all time.  The list was put together after Bruce Willis completely botched the first pitch a Phillies game a few days back.  So, lets just chat about the TOP 5.

2004’s MISS TEXAS – She went to do some sort of underhand model dance toss and ended up with a skeeball like toss to the visitors dugout.

2017’s Jordan LeAndre – he’s an actor…and he tossed his first pitch directly into the business of a nearby photographer.

2003’s Carl Lewis – His first pitch during a Mariners game bounced about 3 feet in front of the mound and rolled to homeplate.

2014’s 50 Cent – His first pitch had the distance but traveled about 25 feet outside. And finally – 2007’s Cincinnati Mayor had by far, the worst pitch ever.  It bounced well short and was probably 40 feet wide.  It’s awful.  Full list with videos on today’s BLOG.
