Former Israel Defense Force member Seth Freedman admitted to helping Harvey Weinstein secretly investigate 91 people who were connected to his abuse case, including Rose McGowan. He told the Times of London that Weinstein paid his employer Black Cube a “seven figure sum” for their services. Weinstein is charged with two counts of predatory sex assault, two counts of rape and one count of a criminal sex act; jury selection in his trial is under way. The trial is set to begin January 22nd

Meanwhile, Harvey and his lawyers and prosecutors behind closed doors for an hour yesterday trying to put together a jury for his rape trail. They are judging prospective jurors based on a screen questionnaire. Prospective jurors were reportedly asked if they could ignore media coverage and just focus on evidence heard in court. They were also quizzed about any history of sexual violence in their own life or the lives of those close to them. Any connections to Weinstein, his victims or lawyers you can kick rocks.  also gets potential jurors nixed. The husband of TV personality Zanna Roberts Rassi, who was on Project Runway All Stars,  was dismissed after he said he knew Harvey and his wife and kids.  Forty-three of the 120 potential jurors questioned were also dismissed after saying they couldn’t be impartial.  The panel is supposed to be finalized today. More than 600 potential jurors have been questioned. Weinstein is facing life in prison if convicted of raping one woman in 2013 and sexually assaulting another in 2006. BTW…Supermodel Gigi Hadid is in the running to be a juror telling a judge Monday that she thinks she would be able to “keep an open mind on the facts.” She said she has met Weinstein and actress Salma Hayek, a potential witness, but said that she could remain impartial. She was asked to return today for additional questioning.

James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, who has been in control of the franchise since the ’90s, says that as long as she’s running things the super spy will always be a man. “He can be of any color, but he is male,” “ I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.” After she was cast in the upcoming No Time to Die, fans has speculated that actress Lashana Lynch would succeed Daniel Craig in the role, but she is playing a different secret agent in the film. She also couldn’t rule out a future Bond film heading straight to a streaming service like Netflix instead of theaters. No Time to Die is set to come out on April 10.

I know I am not the target demo but…Why is WENDY WILLIAMS still a thing and what can we do about it?  Seriously.  On her show last week, Wendy tried to mine some comedy from JOAQUIN PHOENIX and his CLEFT LIP. She was talking about how BEYONCÉ didn’t join the standing ovation for Joaquin at the “Golden Globes”, which she was okay with . . . because apparently no other human being is even remotely in the same universe as Beyoncé. But then she said she finds Joaquin, quote, “oddly attractive.”  She seemed sincere, but at the same time, she also mentioned Joaquin’s lip, while pushing her own lip up with her finger and saying this. After getting some heat on social media, Wendy finally Tweeted an apology yesterday, and said she’s donating to Operation Smile and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.

A few months ago, we heard that there was a “Friends” reunion special in the works with the entire cast.  It was going to air on the upcoming HBO Max service. Well, it might not be happening after all. says the negotiations have come to a standstill, with the cast and studio VERY far apart on money.  An HBO exec says, quote, “There is interest all around . . . [but] today it’s just maybe.”

The first Game of Thrones spinoff series should premiere sometime in 2022. The show House of Dragons, a prequel to the first series, will focus on the rise and fall of the House Targaryen, and is based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire and Blood. Martin will co-create the new show.  Another prequel attempt starring Naomi Watts that was not picked up.

A new documentary on the Beastie Boys, called Beastie Boys Story, will premiere this spring on Apple TV+ and in selected IMAX theaters. It’s directed by Spike Jonze who did their Sabotage video about 25 years ago. It is based in part on a stage show that Jonze put together last year with surviving Beastie Boys members Adam Horovitz and Mike Diamond. The third member of the act, Adam Yauch, passed away in 2012. The film, which also grew out of the Beastie Boys Book that Horovitz and Diamond published in 2018, is described as “an intimate, personal story of their band and 40 years of friendship.” Beastie Boys Story will open in select IMAX theaters for a limited engagement starting on April 3rd, and hits Apple TV+ on April 24th.

“Bad Boys For Life” hits theaters tomorrow, 17 years after “Bad Boys 2”.  But that’s not the longest gap in between sequels.  Here’s a list of sequels that took a long time to materialize . . .

1.  There was a 20-year gap between 1988’s “Rambo 3” and 2008’s “Rambo”.

2.  In 2014, we were “treated” to “Dumb and Dumber To”.  It wasn’t worth the 20-year wait.  (The original came out in ’94.)

3.  There had been talk of a sequel to 1996’s “Trainspotting” for years.  But it finally hit theaters in 2017 . . . a 21-year wait.

4.  Michael Douglas’ Gordon Gekko became a cultural icon after “Wall Street” came out in 1987.  But the character wouldn’t return until 23 years later, in 2010’s “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”.

5.  “Psycho 2” came out in 1983 . . . 23 years after the original (1960).

6.  The 1986 film “The Color of Money”, starring Tom Cruise and Paul Newman, is a sequel to Newman’s “The Hustler”, which came out in ’61.  That’s a 25-year gap.

7.  “Tron” did okay when it came out in 1982, but it didn’t make enough money for Disney to consider a sequel until 2010’s “Tron Legacy” . . . 28 years later.

8.  Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau finally got around to making “The Odd Couple 2” in 1998 . . . 30 years after the original (1968).

9.  After “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” came out in 1985, fans had to wait 30 years for “Mad Max: Fury Road” in 2015.  By then, Mel Gibson was too old to play the character . . . but people didn’t seem to mind Tom Hardy’s take.

10.  “Blade Runner 2049” took 35 years to hit the screen.  The original “Blade Runner” came out in 1982.

The mobile gaming industry is poised to grow again in 2020, App Annie predicts in its annual State of Mobile report. In 2019, spending was up 25% in mobile gaming as it emerged as the most popular form of gaming, over home console and handheld devices. Mario Kart Tour and Call of Duty Mobile performed especially well.

Spotify has your back.  Or really your pets back. Because you can now create a playlist tailored to the specific needs of your pet. You just select your pet’s species, then answer some questions about his or her personality.  Is it relaxed or energetic?  Shy or friendly?  Apathetic or curious? Once you’re done, Spotify gives you a playlist that your pet will supposedly love.

Foo Fighters  Dave Grohl is promising “some seriously crazy s**t” coming up in 2020, as the band prepares to mark the 25th anniversary of its 1995 self-titled debut album.  They have been hinting at new music recently as well. Their last full-length LP was 2017’s Concrete And Gold, which entered the Billboard 200 album chart at Number One. The Foos have also been rolling out a series of archival EPs throughout the past year as part of the lead-up to the band’s quarter-century celebration, containing rare demos, B-sides and live tracks.

What was the best selling rock album of 2019? Tool‘s fifth studio LP, Fear Inoculum. Tool’s first album in 13 years sold 344,000 copies since its release in late August, making it also the year’s eighth best-selling album overall. The best selling album of the year was…Taylor Swift’s Lover. Metallica sold more albums in the U.S. over the past five years than any other rock group, while Queen was the country’s top-selling rock act of 2019. Since 2015, Metallica has sold more than two million albums in the U.S., putting the group ahead of the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker is partnering with famed car auction company Barrett-Jackson to sell a few vehicles from his collection of vintage convertible automobiles. He loves Cadillacs and has at least two Cadillac tattoos, including their logo, on his chest, along with a Cadillac script sprawling down the side of his rib cage. Barker plans to sell a 1941 Cadillac 62 Series Convertible, a 1960 Cadillac Coupe Deville, and a 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer. The 1941 Cadillac is expected to pull in up to $100,000 while the 1972 Chevy could rake in $200,000. Barker is aiming to make room for new vehicles and recently purchased a warehouse in Southern California to house those as well as his clothing brands and new record label, DTA Records.

Last night the with ONE point, the Blues would take over first in the NHL.  With a win, the Blues would continue their home win streak.  A streak that started back on December 7th.  With the win, they would have won 10 straight games at Enterprise Center.  And, despite looking like it was a sure loss, the team did battle back from a 3-1 deficit and forced the game in OT.  Justin Faulk scored first for the Blues.  Then the Flyers scored three straight.  It wasn’t until halfway through the third when Ryan O’Reilly scored goal number 2 for the Blues.  3 minutes later, Alexander Steen tied things up.  Then, just over 3 minutes into the OT, the Flyers got one passed Jordan Binnington to pick up the 4-3 OT win.  Up next for the Blues – an afternoon game against the Avalanche on Saturday.

Yesterday the NHL announced what type of events we will see at the Friday night All-Star Skills challenge. There will be six events this year in St. Louis, with two brand new competitions. The popular “Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater” and “Enterprise NHL Hardest Shot” competitions are back, as well as the “Bud Light NHL Save Streak” and “Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting”. The “Elite women’s 3-on-3” is one of the new events this all-star weekend. Two teams, American All-Stars and Canadian All-Stars, composed of nine skaters and a goalie, will compete in a 3-on-3 game consisting of two 10-minute periods with a running clock. The other new event is the “Gatorade NHL Shooting Stars”. Ten players (eight NHL all-stars, and one player each from the Women’s all-star team) will be positioned on an elevated platform about 30 feet above the ice, behind the goal. They will shoot pucks at a variety of targets on the ice, with each target assigned a different point value. There will be different values given for just how close players land a puck to a target. The 2020 NHL All-Star Skills competition will start at 7 p.m. next Friday.

The Vegas Golden Knights fired head coach Gerard Gallant on Wednesday  less than two years after he led the team to the 2018 Stanley Cup Final in the franchise’s first season and was named NHL coach of the year. They lost in the final to Washington. Peter DeBoer, who was fired last month by the San Jose Sharks, was named the new coach. The change was announced after Vegas dropped out of playoff position with a loss to Buffalo Tuesday night.

New Orleans quarterback DREW BREES spoke at STEVE GLEASON’s Congressional Gold Medal ceremony yesterday. Steve was a safety in the NFL for seven seasons in the early 2000s.  He and Brees were teammates on the Saints in 2006. Gleason was diagnosed with ALS nine years ago . . . and he was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his activism and efforts to fight the disease. Steve gave a very moving speech with the help of speech-generating technology that allows him to type words on a tablet through eye movements. He said his life story is, quote, “not a football story or even an ALS story, but rather a human story.”  And he added, quote, “The truth is that we all experience pain in our lives, but I believe that the problems we face are our opportunity and define our human purpose.”

Louisiana State University acknowledged Wednesday that Cleveland Browns star and LSU football alum Odell Beckham Jr. gave several of the team’s players real money after they won the College Football Playoff National Championship against Clemson on Monday. Beckham Jr. was seen on video slapping cash into the hands of two players, juniors Justin Jefferson and Jontre Kirklin, and Heisman Trophy-winning senior quarterback Joe Burrow said on the Pardon My Take podcast that he got cash from him too. The incident could be a violation of NCAA rules, since players aren’t allowed to accept cash. LSU officials said, “We were in contact with the NCAA and the SEC immediately upon learning of this situation in which some of our student-athletes may have been placed in a compromising position. We are working . . . to rectify the situation.”

Former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, who led the league for 17 years starting in 1989, has made it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on his fifth try, announced yesterday along with former New York Giants general manager George Young as contributors. They are part of the centennial class the Hall of Fame’s been announcing in celebration of the NFL’s 100th season.

Since both AJ Hinch and Alex Cora were fired this week after the whole sign-stealing fiasco – and some are saying Carlos Beltran may be next – there are some manager positions opening up across MLB.  So the job search is on.  And it looks like some of the names being tossed around to fill those positions are big names.  Over in Houston apparently near the top of the list are former managers Bruce Bochy and Dusty Baker. Even Buck Showalter is being discussed.  The main reason that the Astros and the other teams are looking so quickly is because believe it or not, pitchers and catcher report in about a month.

Zion Williamson, who was the top choice in last summer’s NBA draft, but hasn’t played in the regular season yet after suffering an injury, is set to debut for the New Orleans Pelicans on January 22nd. The former Duke star has been out while rehabbing from arthroscopic surgery in mid-October to repair the lateral meniscus in his right knee, playing just four pre-season games for the Pelicans before his injury. Williamson returned to practice on January 2nd. WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Rocky “Soulman” Johnson, who was the father of actor and retired WWE wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has died. He was 75. Johnson and Tony Atlas, known together as “Soul Patrol,” became the first black world tag team champions in WWE history in 1983. Johnson, who retired in the early 1990s, helped train his son, who took “The Rock” name from his father.
