Jackson Co. Sheriff arrests brothers in separate stolen vehicles – WIBW

Two brothers are behind bars after they were both found behind the wheel of stolen cars.

According to Jackson Co. Sheriff Tim Morse, deputies stopped a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer around 1:30a.m. Friday morning on 150th Road west of Mayetta.

Eric Dean McCracken, 36, of Topeka was arrested following the stop for driving while suspended.

Then just before 5:00a.m. Jackson Co. Deputies were alerted by Shawnee Co. dispatchers that they were tracking a stolen truck via GPS, headed north from Topeka. An off-duty deputy spotted and followed the 2015 Chevy Silverado on Highway 75. The deputy called it in and followed the truck into Holton where an officer tried to stop it on Banner Road.

The driver didn’t stop, and lead officers on a chase through Holton, going though yards and then stopped behind the old Country Mart where he jumped out and ran.

What kind of maniac scours Disney+ to find the DIRTIEST content possible?  I don’t know, but someone did . . . and now there’s no way you can continue to exist without knowing what it is.  Am I right?  Of course I am. A website called The Ringer recruited the infamous Mr. Skin to dive deep into Disney+, and these are the two most risqué things he found:  FEMI TAYLOR as Oola in “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi”, and BRENDAN FRASER ALMOST showing his butt in “George of the Jungle”. Oola was one of Jabba the Hutt’s slave girls, and she wore a skimpy, mesh top . . . but she had PASTIES over her nipples. The Brendan Fraser thing is pretty self-explanatory.  He was in a loincloth most of the movie. Disney+ offers nothing beyond PG-13 or TV14, so yeah, that’s pretty much as naughty as things are going to get.  They’ve even gone over and above to remove content that people just THOUGHT was dirty. Like the supposed erection on the bishop during the wedding scene in “The Little Mermaid”.  It was actually the bishop’s KNEE, but since people thought it was visible arousal, the version of the movie on Disney+ doesn’t show it.  And in “The Lion King”, they removed that dust cloud that supposedly spelled out the word “SEX”.  It actually said “SFX”, and was a little shout-out the special effects crew gave to themselves.

Jar Jar Binks is returning to the “Star Wars” universe.  But before you start a riot, hear me out . . . it’s not as bad as you think. AHMED BEST. . . the guy who PLAYED Jar Jar . . . is going to host a competition series for Disney+ called “Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge”. It’s for kids, and it’ll test the contestants’ “Jedi principles,” like strength, bravery and knowledge. Lucasfilm says, quote, “The various challenges will test a Padawan’s connection to the Force in three locations . . .  a forest planet, on board a Jedi star cruiser and inside a Jedi Temple . . . immersing them and the audience in a fun, humorous and exciting competition.”

ADAM SANDLER isn’t exactly known as a CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED actor. But yesterday, the National Board of Review gave him a Best Actor award for “Uncut Gems”, an upcoming crime thriller that hits theaters on December 13th. This is the first LEGIT acting award he’s received . . . although he’s won Teen Choice Awards, Kids’ Choice Awards, People’s Choice Awards, and MTV Movie Awards . . . not to mention nine Razzies, and dozens of Razzie nominations. The closest Adam has come to a serious acting award was when he scored a Golden Globe nomination for “Punch Drunk Love” in 2002.  But he didn’t win. This could be the dawn of a new day for Adam.  Although this Best Actor win from the National Board of Review is the first one . . . he’s also received nominations and recognition from the Gotham Awards, the Independent Spirit Awards, and the Satellite Awards . . .And there’s an outside chance he could get some love from the Oscars.

An auction house called Lelands — which sells off famous sports memorabilia — is auctioning off Charlie Sheen’s Cleveland Indians cap from Major League, as well as his 101 MPH baseball that Ricky ‘Wild Thing’ Vaughn threw to strike out slugger Clu Haywood. He says “It is my hope that whoever buys the cap and ball will get as much enjoyment from them as I did all these years.” For now, there are 17 bids on the cap … with the highest offer so far coming at $4,594. The ball has 10 bids on it, and someone’s willing to drop $2,357 to call it their own. There is also  a watch he wore on the movie “Platoon,” Don Larsen’s perfect game baseball and a Babe Ruth locker tag.

The new Ghostbusters reboot will be called Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Plus original cast members including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts. They added Finn Wolfhard and Paul Rudd. Filming wrapped in November, and we should get a trailer any day.  The film will act as a “love letter to the original movie.” Acting as a sequel to those first stories, Ghostbusters: Afterlife finds a new hero, a young girl about 12 years old.

I got the first teaser for Black Widow with Scarlett Johansson.  ScarJo’s title character (a.k.a. Natasha Romanoff) returns to her native Russia, where she quickly faces off against her “sister,” Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh. Co-starring in the film are Stranger Things’ David Harbour as  the Red Guardian. Black Widow takes place after the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, but before this past summer’s Avengers: Endgame. (In that movie–spoiler alert!–Black Widow died.) Black Widow hits theaters on May 1, 2020.

Oprah Winfrey is producing a new documentary for Apple TV+ that will be about sexual abuse in the music business. It will follow a former music executive who struggles with the decision about whether to come forward with her abuse by a “notable figure” in the business. No title has been revealed, nor have any details about the woman or the man involved been released. The documentary is supposed to come out in 2020 on the streaming network. Winfrey has long supported victims of sexual assault and abuse. Earlier this year, she interviewed two men who said they were abused by Michael Jackson.

A British TV psychic named Derek Acorah was asked a very specific question:  Have GEORGE MICHAEL and MICHAEL JACKSON been in touch now that they’re both on the OTHER SIDE?  And Mr. Acorah had a very specific answer. Not only have they met up, but they’re MAKING MUSIC TOGETHER.  He added, quote, “They have access to any instruments or equipment they may want.” But they’re not just jamming together.  Quote, “They’re also chatting about new bands and whether they like the latest music or not.  Musicians who cross over often do want to meet up with others, so they can talk about their experiences on the Earth plane and enjoy continuing to make music.”

Even without all the controversial, creepy stuff, MICHAEL JACKSON was an eccentric guy . . . and now, there’s an equally eccentric musical in development about his life. The production is called “For the Love of a Glove: An Unauthorized Musical Fable About the Life of Michael Jackson, As Told By His Glove” . . . and yes, that’s exactly what it is.  The playwright says that he’d been hired by a TV network to write a story about Michael’s life . . . and he came up with a REALLY unique take.  They weren’t feeling it, so he decided to develop it for the stage on his own. He said, quote, “Everything MJ has been accused of has actually been caused by his glove, which is actually an alien from outer space, [and it] feeds on virgin boy blood.” JOHNNY DEPP is producing it, which somehow doesn’t seem surprising at all.  It doesn’t sound like he’s involved beyond that.

Rob Lowe was one of the guests with David Spade last night.  He said that Michael Jackson asked his plastic surgeon for Rob Lowe’s chin.  They did a side-by-side shot and the chins look identical.

Monday night and last night A&E aired the documentary on Garth Brooks called “The Road I’m On”.  In between interview clips, they played some previously unheard music from his early days, doing covers back in the ’80s.  Here’s a montage for you

ANDY SAMBERG will host a cooking competition show for Quibi, an upcoming streaming service.  It’s called “Biggest Little Cook-Off”, and there are a few things that will set it apart from all the other cooking shows. For one, it’s apparently supposed to be FUNNY, which explains why they chose Andy to host.  And the contestants on the show will prepare full meals, like spaghetti and meatballs, within one TINY BITE of food, the size of a dime. Andy said, quote, “Anyone who knows me knows I love dinky stuff . . . I’m excited to bring my expertise . . . and I’m also excited to bring a bag lunch, because the food is so dinky I’m for sure going to still be hungry after the shows.”

Armie Hammer sucked goat milk directly from a goat’s teat on “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” . . . and he liked it

The man has smoked weed on the roof of the White House and he even inspired the song “Ill Never Smoke Weed with Willie Again” by Toby Keith. But 86 year old Willie Nelson says he quit smoking weed.

Brian Posehn formed a new band called Grandpa Metal.  He recruited some top names in heavy metal like Corey Taylor from Slipknot, Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, Amon Amarth’s Johan Hegg, Slayer’s Gary Holt, Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil, and even “Weird Al” Yankovic.  Here’s a cover of A-ha’s “Take on Me

Check out “Zombie Claus” by Psychostick.  It’s a parody of Rob Zombie’s “Dragula.”

On her show yesterday, Kelly Clarkson unleashed a fantastic cover of the “Mister Rogers” theme song, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”

Evanescence covered “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac.  It’s in the launch trailer for the new “Gears of War” game “Gears 5” for Xbox.

The 40 Best Sports Quotes of All Time – USAToday

The Blues are in action against the Penguins tonight in Pittsburgh.  The Blues have a four game win streak going on and have collected points in their last 10 straight road games.  The Blues just got done taking on the Penguins, last time at home, and picked up the 5-2 win.  Tonight is the last time the two teams will play each other this year.  David Perron will look to extend his 5 game point streak.  Puck drop tonight is scheduled for 7PM.

We are less than three months from the first St. Louis Battlehawks game. The team has already revealed their logo and team colors, some of their players and their schedule. Yesterday, the team revealed their uniforms. There were no big surprises, with the team sporting royal blue and silver with the logo wrapping around the entirety of the helmet. The eight-team league is divided into four-team divisions, East and West.  The XFL East features the DC Defenders, New York Guardians, St. Louis BattleHawks and Tampa Bay Vipers. Every game will be air on national television. Each team will host five home games. XFL tickets will be available to the general public Oct. 24 at 10 a.m.

The Carolina Panthers fired head coach Ron Rivera yesterday dropping the franchise’s winningest coach who’s been with them since 2011. During his nine seasons, Rivera led the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance and an NFC championship. Rivera’s firing came with the Panthers at 5-7 for the season, having lost the last four games, and all but out of playoff contention. Owner David Tepper said he would have rather waited until after the season, but wanted to begin looking for a new coach. Secondary coach Perry Fewell was named interim head coach.

After a dismal start to the season that has the New Jersey Devils with the NHL’s second-worst record, John Hynes was fired as head coach yesterday. The dismissal came one day after New Jersey lost 7-1 to the Buffalo Sabres to put them at 9-13-4. Hynes had been with the Devils since 2015, and is second in team history in games coached, wins and points.

Two basketball players from Georgetown named Josh LeBlanc and Galen Alexander are in some trouble.  Both received restraining orders for accusations of harassment and burglary.  Another player was accused of sexual harassment and assault.  LeBlanc has already left the program and its unclear what the other players will do.  Not a whole lot of details just that a female filed the complaints saying: “I believe Joshua committed a burglary against me and threatened bodily harm against myself and my roommate verbally and via text.”  The school released a statement saying they are internally investigating as well.

As far as teams making roster moves, the Nick Foles experiement is over in Jacksonville.  Since returning from injury, Foles hasn’t been great.  The team has lost both games and have just seemed flat.  Well, yesterday, they announced, Gardner Minshew II will be the starter for this weekends game against the Chargers.  And even further – they said he will start the REMAINDER of the season.  Yikes.  That’s an $88 million dollar mistake.

In the second to last poll of the year, the College Football Playoff selection committee released their rankings, and Ohio State will go into Championship weekend in the top spot again. The LSU Tigers, the Clemson Tigers and the Georgia Bulldogs are slotted in the 2-4 spots, and would be in the playoff if the season ended today. However, there’s still a lot of football to be played between now and the final poll on December 8. No team that lost its conference championship game has ever made the College Football Playoff, so all four will have to win next weekend to punch their ticket, however Georgia and LSU will face off for the SEC title, which means one of them will probably be out. That also means that that fourth spot will likely go to #5 Utah (if they win) or the winner of #6 Oklahoma vs. #7 Baylor in the Big 12 title game Saturday. After their loss to Auburn last Saturday in the Iron Bowl, Alabama will miss the playoff for the first time since the new championship format began six seasons ago.

Mizzou lost to Charleston Southern last night 68-60.  Their next game is Saturday against Temple.  SLU’s next game is Sunday against Tulane at Chafietz.  Tip off is scheduled for 12:30PM.  And Illinois will travel to take on the 3rd ranked team in the country Maryland on Saturday.

And finally – In conjunction with the NFL’s 100th season celebration, 19 current and former reporters across the USA TODAY Sports Network were asked to compile a list ranking the 100 greatest players in pro football history.  We have the TOP 10 – but just for some reference sake:  Troy Aikman is number 100.   Former STL Ram Orlando Pace is #69.  Marshall Faulk is number 57.

Here are the TOP 10:
10. Barry Sanders
Johnny Unitas
Peyton Manning
Reggie White
Joe Montana
Walter Payton
Jim Brown
Lawrence Taylor
Tom Brady

And #1 is….Jerry Rice (SF, Oakland, SEA)
