Four Tips for Fighting on Facebook – UProxx

Adam Sandler was nominated in the Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category for his first “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig.  It was his first time back since he left the show 24 years ago.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is one win away from making Emmy history.  She’s nominated again for “Veep” . . . and if she wins, she’ll have NINE Emmys as a performer, more than any other actress. She’s currently tied with Cloris Leachman with eight.

This year’s Emmy nominations aren’t breaking any new ground, at least at the top.  At last year’s ceremony, “Game of Thrones” led with nine wins, followed by “Saturday Night Live” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” with eight apiece.

“Game of Thrones” set a record for most nominations in a single year with 32.  But to set a record for the most WINS in a single year, it needs to win 13.  “Game of Thrones” already holds the current record.  It won 12 in both 2015 and 2016.

No, “Big Little Lies”“Stranger Things”, and “The Handmaid’s Tale” were NOT snubbed, they didn’t make the cut-off date.  Generally, the majority of episodes of a show must air between June 1st of the previous year and May 31st of the current year.  They’ll be eligible next year.  Also – the finale season of the Big Bang Theory only got 3 noms and zero in any of the major categories.

Sacha Baron Cohen thanked Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney for his “Who Is America?” nominations.

Fox will air “The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards live on September 22nd.  There’s no word on a host yet . . . assuming they don’t copy the “Oscars” and go without one.

“Avengers: Endgame” seemingly brought an end to the stories of THREE of the original Avengers:  Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow.  But one of them will go on . . . and luckily for us, it’s not Hawkeye. “Thor 4” is in the works, and it’ll be written and directed by the same guy who did “Thor: Ragnarok”.  Which is fantastic news, because that movie was AMAZING.

HARRY STYLES is in talks to play Prince Eric in the live action “Little Mermaid” remake.   Ironically, Eric does NO SINGING in the original movie.  But they gave him some songs when it was adapted for Broadway, and he’ll sing in the remake, too.  So Harry’s vocal talents will not be wasted . . . provided he gets the part.

R. KELLY was ordered to be held without bail yesterday, after prosecutors described him as, quote, “an extreme danger to the community, especially to minor girls.”  They also said he has, quote, “a unique ability to influence and intimidate witnesses and victims, and that continues to this day.” Kelly’s attorney argued that he’s not a flight risk because, quote, “he has no money.”  He also claimed there’s, quote, “no evidence that he’s a risk to minors at all at this point.”

Rob Zombie will continue the horror saga he started with House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects when he releases 3 From Hell on September 16th. The trailer for the film opens with TV footage of the “Devil’s Rejects” gang in the hospital following a bloody police standoff. “The chances of survival are less than a million to one,” a newscaster says, as the footage transitions into a West Memphis Three–style protest with people changing “Free the three!” The trailer looks awesome and is up on the blog.

The 90s kid inside of us all can rejoice next month.  Netflix is bringing back an old show in the form of a movie…((theme)) Next month, will we be blessed with a Rocko’s Modern Life movie. Entitled Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, the full-length feature finds Rocko and the gang returning to Earth after being stranded in space since 1996’s finale. Rocko’s Modern Life originally ran for three seasons between 1993 and 1996. The sequel film was first announced by Nickelodeon at Comic-Con during the summer of 2017 and subsequently acquired by Netflix for distribution. Static Cling is set to premiere on August 9th.

The Simpsons is set to tackle Stranger Things as part of its next Halloween special. The animated show will send up the Netflix show for the Treehouse of Horror XXX – which fitting marks the 666th episode of the entire show. Spooky. While Simpsons bosses have joked that the significance was “planned that way from the very beginning”, a poster suggests that they’ve pretty much nailed the Stranger Things vibe. It sees Lisa Simpson channelling Eleven as she displays a bloodied nose. Chief Wiggum takes on the role of Jim Hopper, and Bart, Nelson and Martin become cartoon versions of Mike, Dustin and Lucas.

Amber Portwood will lose more than her freedom if she’s convicted of going after her boyfriend with a machete — she will almost certainly lose her gig on “Teen Mom OG.” Production sources say Amber’s already on thin ice following her domestic violence arrest resulting in 3 felony charges — domestic battery, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and domestic battery in the presence of a child. The dealbreaker for the show … if a jury believes Amber wielded a machete during a heated argument with bf Andrew Glennon.  Amber struck a door with Glennon holding their infant son on the other side. Our sources say a conviction for the use of a deadly weapon in a domestic violence incident should end her 10-year run on the ‘Teen Mom’ franchise. We’re told the show is letting the legal process play out … but a conviction will almost certainly be all she wrote. As ‘Teen Mom’ fans know … the show has stood by Amber’s side in the past when she weathered other legal storms. She was busted for domestic violence in 2010 for hitting her ex, Gary Shirley … an incident caught by MTV cameras. MTV again stood by Amber when she was busted in 2011 for possession of a controlled substance. She ultimately served time behind bars and later admitted to abusing prescription drugs. The difference in this case … putting her son in danger. Aside from the obvious, it’s way too much of a risk for a show to keep someone on the air with this kind of propensity for violence, because if she snaps again and the child gets hurt … the show will have hell to pay.

They have plans for a festival, they have dozens of bands, they have dates and they have a legacy around which they plan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of perhaps the most famous concert ever held — Woodstock. But they have no venue, no permits, tickets have yet to go on sale and with a month left until the first band is scheduled to take the stage, time is quickly running out. Last week alone, officials twice rejected plans for the Woodstock 50 festival. Yet on Monday night, 24 hours before their latest plans could once again collapse — possibly for the final time — festival organizers remained calm.  The driving force behind Woodstock 50 the man who was the co-founder and co-producer of the 1969 Woodstock festival, declined to speculate on what another would mean for the festival. Woodstock 50 was announced with great fanfare in January, when it was revealed that dozens of acts, including Jay-Z, the Lumineers, Miley Cyrus, Common and Santana would mark the golden anniversary of the famous festival.

The wife of Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss claims he violently attacked her on July 4 during an argument over her pregnancy and has filed a restraining order against the television exec. According to legal documents, Laura Fleiss says the attack was captured on security cameras. “While we were at our house Mike demanded that I get an abortion. Our son Ben was in the house, seated in another room nearby. Mike told me, ‘If you have an abortion, then we can just go back to the way we were.'” The former Miss America also disclosed she is 10 weeks pregnant, and claimed the TV exec has been verbally abusive during their marriage, but has become worse since finding out about the pregnancy. She continues, “Mike told me many times that he did not want us to have a second child.”

Iggy Azalea may fall into the mainstream realm between “Fancy” and “Black Widow,” but the artist has been known to give a shout-out to the alt-world. Now, she’s giving the mosh pit a revamp with her own version: The twerkpit. Last week, Azalea announced two special, one-night only gigs in Los Angeles and New York City. With it, she delivered a playful warning of how the shows were about to go down. “IF YOU ARE NOT TRYNA MELT THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR FACE. IF YOU ARE NOT TRYNA SCREAM THE WORDS TILL YOU HAVE NO VOICE. IF YOU ARE NOT TRYNA LEAVE LOOKING LIKE YOU GOT JUMPED. DO NOT. And I repeat. DO NOT Stand in the first 10 rows at the shows cause it ain’t for you!!!”  The following day, another fan shared a meme with the caption, “Azaleans at the show fighting over who gets to twerk at the stage.” Azalea played along, stating “This is why we need to invent: TwerkPit. It’s like a mosh pit but with ass. And friendly.”

A new online search tool called Trailered has been designed to connect moviegoers with showtimes, trailers and tickets for all available films. The free service is launching in the U.S. and Canada. Fandango is a ticketing partner. “Until now, finding out where, when and what films are showing has tended to be a somewhat tedious and tricky discovery process. Trailered makes the entire journey a much more engaging, streamlined and simpler for moviegoers,” said Ste Thompson, CEO and Creative Director of Powster, the creative studio and production company that created the new service. “Trailered makes finding which movies are playing at theaters nearby an effortless user experience. Simply load the site, and press play on any trailer listed. Those trailers listed are the current films in the movie theater that you can view that same evening.”

The New York Times reports that rapper Nipsey Hussle was the subject of an LAPD investigation into possible gang activity at the time of his death in March of this year. Police and the city attorney’s office were jointly looking into Hussle’s operation of the strip mall he owned, which was also where he was gunned down on March 31. The investigation is still ongoing and is focusing on Hussle’s business associates at the property, which includes a cellphone shop and barbershop. The Times adds that the probe almost led to Hussle’s eviction from the strip mall before he and his partners raised $2.5 million to purchase the property. Hussle’s brother, Samiel Asghedom, had said at the rapper’s memorial, “I don’t know if anybody knows, but we had a 30-day notice and they were kicking us out of all the businesses we owned in the lot.”

Kylie Jenner is usually all about business on Instagram. But she recently shared a message about her struggles with anxiety, and the toll that celebrity life has taken on her life and identity.  She also alluded the loss of her friendship with BFF Jordyn Woods and the emotional roller coaster she endured after welcoming her baby Stormi.  She wrote: “I’m proud of myself, my heart, and my strength. Growing up in the light with a million eyes on you just isn’t normal. I’ve lost friends along the way and I’ve lost myself too sometimes. My first tattoo was ‘sanity’ to remind myself everyday to keep it. I’ve struggled with anxiety my whole young adult life and after my baby I dealt with all the internal ups and downs. I felt like I had to find myself completely again.”  If you want to read her full post you can on her Instragram.

The bagel guy is pulling no punches — or low blows — as he prepares to step into the ring. Chris Morgan, the Long Island bagel shop customer whose rant about dating woes went viral, has signed up for a celebrity boxing match.  The 5-foot-nothing star of Bagel Boss meltdown fame spoke to the site after signing contracts with fighting promoter Damon Feldman to step in the ring on Sept. 7 in Atlantic City. The promoter said there was a “possibility” he would fight Antoine Dodson, another viral video star after his reaction to a home intruder in Alabama in 2010. “I’m just naturally tough — I’ll whoop his ass,” Morgan bragged. “If he thinks he’s gonna win, fuggedaboutit!”

Jack Flaherty hasn’t won a game for the Cardinals since May 14. Mike Shildt, who took over just after the midway point of last season, reached the 162-game mark at 88-74 going into the game last night, the same record as the ones achieved in their first years as Cardinals manager by Tony La Russa in 1996 and Mike Matheny in 2012. Both those seasons wound up with the Cardinals in the National League championship series. With both those stats out of the way I can say that Flaherty was awesome last night. Like really really good. However the Cardinals lost it in the 9th to the Pirates.

Just as Matt Carpenter returned to the lineup the Cardinals’ third baseman suffered a bone contusion on the top of his right foot Monday night. For the umpteenth time this season, he fouled a ball off his right leg, this time on the foot, where there was no protection. So he now will take his second tour on the 10-day injured list in just more than two weeks.

TMZ is reporting that Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is being investigated by Las Vegas police over a May 19 scuffle. According to documents obtained by the out, the athlete allegedly knocked 19-year-old Kyle Johnson to the ground at a music festival in Sin City. Officers working the event described the event at the time as a “battery,” and even placed Elliott in handcuffs, but released him after Johnson declined to press charges. Johnson later publicly demanded an apology, while Elliott’s handlers accused Johnson of running an “extortion” scheme. The NFL investigated the altercation and cleared Elliott, and the NFL star apologized for his actions that night. Apparently that did not appease Johnson, as a Las Vegas police spokesman confirms the “incident is under investigation.”

Memphis Grizzlies center Dwight Howard went on national TV and steadfastly denied allegations that he’s gay. Howard told Kristine Leahy, anchor on FS1’s Fair Game, that allegations made against him last year by a man claiming a sexual relationship “made him never want to come outside again.” When pressed, Howard said point blank, “I’m not gay.” Howard says he spent months reflecting on his life after the allegations went public, and that he never even met the accuser. HERES THE AUDIO. “It upset me because I didn’t even know who the person was,” he added. “Why would somebody who I’ve never met, never had any contact with make up a whole story about me?” __________He also said it made him realize how hard it would be for someone to come out publicly after the reaction he received.

After 10 days and more than 80 total hours of play, Hossein Ensan was left standing as the champion of the 50th World Series of Poker main event in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. Ensan, 55, takes home a $10 million grand prize to go along with the most prestigious bracelet in poker after he outlasted Dario Sammartino with a winning hand that finished at around 1:30 a.m. local time at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas. On the final hand, Ensan held a pair of kings in his hand when Sammartino pushed his chips all-in with nothing more than a flush draw and a straight draw. Ensan’s kings prevailed. The day began eight hours earlier with just three players remaining from a massive 8,569-player starting field. With no Americans in the final three, the atmosphere for most of Tuesday night’s action resembled a high-stakes European soccer match as fans of each player chanted and sang constantly. Sammartino, who’s a professional poker player from Italy, had the loudest fans of all so I’m sure they can still celebrate his second-place prize of $6 million.

Remember that collision we talked about between the Astros and Angels about nine days ago? There was a violent collision at home plate that left one player with a broken nose and the other with a suspension.

The culprit of that ugly collision, Houston outfielder Jake Marisnick and well… he got plunked in the upper back by an apparent retaliation pitch last night from Los Angeles reliever Noé Ramirez during Tuesday’s 7-2 Angels win. Ramirez not thrown out, so both teams’ benches emptied after arguments broke out between Angels’ Albert Pujols and players in Houston’s dugout. While Marisnick didn’t react much and simply took his base without incident, the whole situation left Astros manager A.J. Hinch furious after the game. While Marisnick and his manager maintain that his July 7 collision with Angels catcher Jonathan Lucroy was not malicious, the league still handed Marisnick a two-game suspension (which he is currently appealing). Meanwhile Lucroy will require surgery to repair his broken nose

Stop us if you have heard this before. A LeBron James production is swapping out decision-makers. Terence Nance, the director of “Space Jam 2” starring James, is exiting the project and will be replaced by veteran comedy director Malcolm D. Lee. Nance is exiting three weeks after James proudly announced production on “Space Jam 2” had begun, though the movie is clearly dealing with an unusual shooting schedule due to having to work around the busy lives of several NBA and WNBA stars. Just last week Don Cheadle had joined the project. James’ Lakers teammate Anthony Davis, Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson, Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi and Los Angeles Sparks power forward Nneka Ogwumike are all reported to occupy “key roles” in the movie.
