It’s national Pi Day . . . as in 3.14, because it’s March 14th. But a recent poll found a third of Americans don’t know what “pi” is. Some just have a vague notion it has something to do with math.
19% said they had no idea what pi is . . . 3% thought it was the hypotenuse of a triangle . . . 2% said angles in a parallelogram . . . 1% said the volume of water . . . and 7% thought it was the “mass of a pie,” spelled P-I-E. (???)
Two-thirds knew the correct answer: It’s the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It’s used it all areas of math and physics to calculate stuff.
But here’s what you really care about: As always, a bunch of places have deals on PIZZA and ACTUAL pies today. Here are a few you might want to check out . . .
7-Eleven, Cicis, Blaze Pizza, and BJ’s Restaurant all have $3.14 pizza deals today. At Cicis, it’s $3.14 for their all-you-can-eat pizza buffet.
Boston Market has a buy-one-get-one deal on pot pies. Or, you can get a free slice of pie at Marie Callender’s with any entrée.
Whole Foods is giving Amazon Prime members $3.14 off apple pies and cherry pies. And White Castle has a coupon for a free pie-on-a-stick dessert with any purchase.

A poll last fall found only 25% of us want to keep switching the clocks twice a year. Everyone else wants to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, or ditch it altogether.
Over a dozen states have passed laws to make it permanent, and at least 28 more have bills in the works. But they can’t go into effect until the federal government says it’s okay, and that hasn’t happened yet.
The main argument AGAINST it seems to be we just don’t know what the effects would be. But of course, switching the clocks twice a year has an effect too.
For what it’s worth, we DID try permanent Daylight Saving Time once, and it didn’t go well. President Nixon did it for 16 months in 1974 and ’75. But people complained about their kids going to school in the dark. So we went back to the current system.
We also made another change not long ago. In 2007, Daylight Saving Time was extended by more than a month. It used to start the first Sunday in April and end in October. Now it runs from the second Sunday in March and ends in November.

No premiere date yet for the Rob Zombie version of The Munsters movie but he has added Elvira, Cassandra Peterson, to the movie. She will play a real estate agent named Barbara Carr. The picture I saw was her in a pink plaid dress suit and red curly hair. Strange to see. (Jeff Daniel Phillips and Sheri Moon Zombie have been cast as Herman and Lily Munster, while Daniel Roebuck will portray Grandpa Munster.) It will be PG-13
HAILEY BIEBER was hospitalized last week in Palm Springs after she thought she was having a stroke. Turned out, it was a blood clot in her brain. She shared her experience on her Instagram story on Saturday. Quote, “On Thursday morning, I was sitting at breakfast with my husband when I started having stroke like symptoms and was taken to the hospital . . .”They found I had suffered a very small blood clot to my brain, which caused a small lack of oxygen, but my body had passed it on its own and I recovered completely within a few hours. The Blues had a pretty decent weekend. And this time I’m being serious. 6-2 win on Thursday against the Rangers….7-4 win against the Predators on Saturday. And, unfortunately, they weren’t able to pick up the win against the Jets last night, but they did force things to OT and picked up a point. Final score last night was 4-3. The Blues have a good little break as they host the Penguins on Thursday.
Before we get to some some other big stories – it’s just nice to have something to report about baseball. The Cardinals have made two moves over the weekend. They signed right hander Nick Wittgren (who most recently pitched for the Cleveland Guardians. They also signed right hander Drew VerHagen who spent some time with the Tigers before heading over to Japan. The Cardinals first game of Spring Training is FRIDAY when they take on the Astros.
One of the big things in the new CBA is the universal DH. And we now have our first player who is making the jump to the NL soley for that reason. 41 year old Nelson Cruz is now a member of the Washington Nationals. This will be his 18th season.
After 40 days of retirement, TOM BRADY has decided that he would rather be pursued and mauled by 250-pound men than spend any more time with his wife and kids. Yes, my friends, Tom has UN-RETIRED, and will return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his 23rd season. He Tweeted, quote, “These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. “I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.”
Somebody spent a small fortune on what SHOULD have been a historic piece of sports memorabilia. But ultimately, they got ROBBED. Just hours before TOM BRADY announced he was coming out of retirement, an anonymous bidder paid $518,628 for what was SUPPOSED TO be Tom’s final touchdown ball. Now that it’s most likely NOT Tom’s last touchdown anymore, that ball is probably never going to be worth even close to that. The touchdown in question was a 55-yarder to Bucs receiver MIKE EVANS, during their playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Evans tossed the ball into the stands, obviously not thinking about its possible worth. Remember, Evans did that earlier in the season after catching Brady’s 600th touchdown pass. But they got that ball back, and gave the fan some swag in return.
Following a significant development in Deshaun Watson’s ongoing legal troubles, two teams have emerged as possible spots for the Texans quarterback. The Saints and Panthers have made offers for Watson and are “likely to meet with him soon,”. More teams are reportedly involved in the QB’s budding trade market. Watson, 26, is no longer facing criminal charges for alleged sexual assault and harassment after a grand jury returned nine “no” bills on Friday. However, Watson still faces 22 active civil lawsuits that allege sexual harassment and assault. The graphic accounts range from Watson refusing to cover his genitals to forcing women to actual forced sexual acts.
Some wrestling news for you….Former WWE star Scott Hall is on life-support after suffering multiple heart attacks. Hall reportedly had three heart attacks, along with other complications, one week after undergoing hip replacement surgery. Having begun his career in 1984, Hall starred as “Razor Ramon” for the WWE before leaving for WCW in 1996. He would start the New World Order with Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan during his bad guy era in wrestling. Hall, who admitted to using steroids during his wrestling heights, also has had several battles with drugs and alcohol, but had been doing well since retiring and getting help from Diamond Dallas Page.
Former WWE Champion Big E told fans that he suffered a broken neck on Friday Night Smackdown. Posting a video on social media on Saturday, Big E said his C1 and C6 vertebrae were fractured. There was no spinal damage. He went on to say that the report was “some really good news … all things considered.” The injury happened during a belly to belly suplex where Big E landed awkwardly on his head during a live televised match.
If you are a Mizzou or SLU fan you don’t have much to look forward to on the basketball court the rest of the year. The only news that Mizzou fans heard over the weekend is that they fired their head coach. But – 68 teams were announced yesterday during selection Sunday. Gonzaga, Baylor, Arizona, and Kansas were the 4 #1 seeds. The first four games start tomorrow night at 5:40 with Texas A&M Corpus Christi takes on Texas Southern. Illinois takes on Chattanooga on Friday.
On the women’s side of things, Missouri State plays Florida State in the first four on Thursday. Stanford, NC State, Louisville, and South Carolina are the number 1 seeds on the women’s side of things. Mizzou and SLU did not make the women’s tournament either.
