David Crosby . . . a founding member of both the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, & Nash . . . died yesterday after a “long illness.”  He was 81 years old. HERE”S A LITTLE MONTAGE of CROSBY STUFF. Crosby was active on Twitter right up until Wednesday.  One of his final Tweets was this critique on Heaven . . . quote, “I heard the place is overrated . . . cloudy.” Crosby was with the Byrds from 1964 until 1967, when he formed CS&N with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash.  They later added Neil Young to become Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. They broke up in the ’70s, but would reform in various combinations over the years . . . despite not always getting along. In a statement, Graham Nash noted that their relationship was volatile, but he added, quote, “What has always mattered to David and me more than anything was the pure joy of the music we created together . . . “The sound we discovered with one another, and the deep friendship we shared over all these many long years.” Crosby famously spent five months in prison in 1986 on drug and weapons charges . . . and received a liver transplant in 1994 after years of drug and alcohol abuse. Crosby is a two-time inductee in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with both the Byrds and C,S&N. It’s famously known, since they announced it on stage, when Crosby, Stills, and Nash played Woodstock in 1969, it was only the second time they’d performed in front of people.  And it was more than 300,000.  Here’s David Crosby on the experience.  (From the 2020 “Laurel Canyon” documentary.) Neil Young refused to be filmed.  That’s why he’s not in the movie.  He wanted to perform only for the people there. He was also the producer of . . . Melissa Etheridge’s children.  (???)  In 2000, she revealed the Crosby was the DONOR for her two kids with then-partner Julie Cypher.  One of them died in 2020 due to drug addiction, at the age of 21. In addition to the other child he fathered for Melissa, Crosby is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters. (Here’s a list of the Top 10 David Crosby songs, including some of his solo tracks.) (Variety)

Alec Baldwin will face charges in the 2021 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the Rust movie set.   The announcement happened on Thursday. Hutchins was killed after Baldwin accidentally discharged a prop gun. New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said, “After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the state of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members of the Rust film crew. On my watch, no one is above the law, and everyone deserves justice.” Baldwin and film armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Both crimes are fourth-degree felonies with a penalty of up to 18 months in jail and up to a $5,000 fine. The second count adds a firearms enhancement. If Baldwin or Gutierrez-Reed is found guilty, either could face a mandatory five years in jail.

The Black Eyed Peas are suing the makers of Poopsie Slime Surprise, a line of toy unicorns that poop slime.  Ads for the toys use a song called “My Poops“, that sounds just like “My Humps”.  They’re suing for $10 million.   Here are samples of both songs, beginning with the poopers.

Robert Pattinson said he’s tried every fad diet he can think of . . . except consistency. In an recent interview he said, quote, “I once ate nothing but potatoes for two weeks, as a detox.  Just boiled potatoes and Himalayan pink salt.  Apparently, it’s a cleanse . . . you definitely lose weight.” He also said he tried keto once, but he didn’t realize he couldn’t drink beer on it. Robert said he’s never struggled with body image, but that there is a dangerous pressure put on men to be in shape and lose weight. Quote, “Even if you’re just watching your calorie intake, it’s extraordinarily addictive, and you don’t quite realize how insidious it is until it’s too late.” (Uproxx)

Beyoncé is set to make $24 MILLION.  For ONE SHOW.  And it’s only an HOUR long. It’s at a resort in Dubai this weekend, and it’s invite-only, so she’s not even selling tickets. People can actually hear her rehearsing from outside the resort, and some fans have posted videos. Songs she’s been rehearsing include “Crazy In Love”“Halo”“Drunk In Love”, and “Spirit” from the 2019 version of “The Lion King”(Check out some of the fan videos here.)

Actor Ben Savage, who gained fame in the 1990s sitcom Boy Meets World, is making a bid for Congress. According to papers filed today with the Federal Election Commission, Savage is vying for the 30th District seat currently occupied by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Burbank.  Savage interned for then-U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) in 2003 as a requirement for completing his studies in political science at Stanford. The actor, 42, made an unsuccessful bid for a seat on the West Hollywood City Council last year. Savage played lead Cory Matthews on ABC’s Boy Meets World from 1993–2000 and again its Disney Channel sequel Girl Meets World from 2014–2017. He is the brother of The Wonder Years actor/director Fred Savage.
