Days after indefinitely suspending all production (LINK) and content acquisition plans in Russia, Netflix suspended all production in Russia recently. Now Netflix is pulling its streaming service entirely from Russia. Not sure if the 1 million subscribers in the country will be suspended or removed entirely. Earlier this week, Netflix began pulling up stakes in Russian. Their law says they have to broadcast 20 free, state-run broadcast channels on their service and Netflix said no thanks.

Ever since the war began, artists have been pulling out of their Russian performances — Imagine Dragons, Eric Clapton, Gorillaz, and Louis Tomlinson are just a few.A good number of bands are sticking to their plans for now … most likely to see how things blow over, but only time will tell. KISS’ Gene Simmons says bands should stick together in solidarity and take Russia off their tour schedules — something KISS is doing.. Gene thinks an American band that travels and puts on a show for the Russian people would be giving a thumbs up to President Vladimir Putin and his current attack (LINK)

The MLB Players Association gave a written collective bargaining agreement proposal to Major League Baseball yesterday. The meeting in New York lasted 95 minutes with the union suggesting afterward that the two sides meet again Monday. A league spokesman said: “We were hoping to see some movement in our direction to give us additional flexibility and get a deal done quickly. The players’ association chose to come back to us with a proposal that was worse than Monday night and was not designed to move the process forward. On some issues, they even went backwards. Simply put, we are deadlocked.”
Papa John’s is currently hiring professional baseball players who aren’t playing due to the MLB lockout. Atlanta Braves players DANSBY SWANSON and JOC PEDERSON already took up the offer and did a shift at a Georgia location. Last Friday they made pizzas and folded boxes during their shift as a “Pre-Season Pizza Pro”. All players who participate will receive the same benefits as regular employees. Papa John’s said in a Tweet, quote, “Are you a pro ball player with too much free time during a prolonged off season? If your team isn’t doing much lately, why not join ours? . . We’ll put your talents to use catching orders, taking a swing at pizza making, and delivering the goods like you always have. You’ll even get a new uniform. So join our team roster and apply today.” Dansby and Joc even shared videos of their initial interest in the job listing and why they’d be perfect for Papa John’s.
In a week in which speed has been the big story at the NFL scouting combine, two defensive backs put an exclamation point on the affair Sunday. Baylor cornerback Kalon Barnes and Texas-San Antonio cornerback Tariq Woolen ran two of the fastest 40-yard dash times in the combine’s history. Barnes’ official 4.23 clocking was the fastest ever for a defensive back and is now considered the second-fastest time to wide receiver John Ross’ 4.22 in 2017. Woolen ran an official 4.26 and, like Barnes, ran his best 40 on his second attempt. Woolen’s run, at least to some personnel executives, will be even a little more celebrated given he not has only tied for the fourth-fastest 40-yard dash in the event’s history, but he did it as one of the biggest cornerbacks in any draft at 6-foot-4⅛ and 205 pounds.
WNBA star BRITTNEY GRINER was arrested at a Russian airport last month when authorities allegedly found vape cartridges containing hashish oil in her luggage. The crime can carry a prison sentence of up to 10 years. But Griner’s arrest could go beyond just simple crime and punishment. Evelyn Farkas is a former Pentagon official who thinks Russia could be using it for more sinister purposes. Quote, “If we want her out of jail, Russia is going to have some terms. It could be a prisoner swap. They also could use it as an implicit threat or blackmail to get us to do something or not do something. Either way, they find it useful.” Griner is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and seven-time WNBA All-Star. But she’s also one of many female American basketball stars who play overseas during the offseason because it pays BETTER.
Deadspin has an interesting take on this chaos, saying America FAILED Brittney Griner by not paying her better and forcing her, and so many others, to supplement their incomes in other countries.
On Saturday night, it was Coach K’s final game for Duke. While the average ticket price was around $5700, that didn’t stop people from jamming into the building. Lots of big names were there as well. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki and comedian Jerry Seinfeld were among those in attendance to celebrate Coach K. Also Adam Silver, Ken Jeong, Terrell Owens, Joc Pederson, and a ton of other big names were there. And – the final result? North Carolina beat Duke 94-81.
On Feb. 10, just over a month out from Selection Sunday, March Madness seemed improbable for the Kentucky women’s basketball team. The Wildcats were 9-11 overall and 2-8 in the SEC. Then everything changed for Kentucky. The Wildcats went on a 10-game winning streak that wrapped up this weekend with a 64-62 upset of No. 1-ranked South Carolina. They became the first team in SEC women’s tournament history to beat the top three seeds on the way to the title. The Wildcats beat No. 1 seed South Carolina, No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Tennessee and No. 10 Mississippi State all this year. However – even despite the loss – South Carolina still has the overall No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament locked up
