Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea is creating a podcast that will focus on how people fall in love with music. The 15-part series podcast, ‘This Little Light’, will include guests Patti Smith, Rick Rubin and others talking about their early influences and the people and experiences that helped them fall in love with music. The guests will also talk about how they balance their passion and careers. Podcast proceeds will benefit the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, the nonprofit music school Flea founded in 2001. Flea said, “I wanted to do ‘This Little Light’ to benefit my music school. The idea behind it being music education, falling in love with music and embarking on a musical journey for your life. … Everybody’s path is so different, and it’s fascinating to learn how every musician came to music and developed their study of it over time.”

On Thursday, Alec Baldwin pled not guilty to manslaughter charges in connection to the Rust movie set shooting. Baldwin waived his first court appearance and was released on his own recognizance.   Court documents require Baldwin not to own a gun, drink alcohol, or speak to anyone about the case.  Baldwin and movie armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed are facing involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of the movie’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins. In 2021, Hutchins was killed by a live round from a gun held by Baldwin while on the set. Baldwin maintains he did not pull the trigger.

You will only get one more season to enjoy HBO’s Succession. The hit drama is ending after its fourth season. Succession’s showrunner Jesse Armstrong told the New Yorker about how a meeting with fellow writers left them with the decision to end the show while it was still hot.  Armstrong said, “There’s a promise in the title of Succession. I’ve never thought this could go on forever. The end has always been kind of present in my mind. From season two, I’ve been trying to think: Is it the next one, or the one after that, or is it the one after that?” The fourth and final season of Succession starts on March 26th.

On Thursday, R. Kelly was sentenced to 20 years in connection to child porn charges. The federal sentence was handed down in Chicago. The judge ruled that the 20 years can be served concurrently with a previous sentence. Kelly’s jail time has been raised by one year. Kelly is already serving 30 years in jail from his 2021 conviction of racketeering and sex trafficking charges in New York.

Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to another 16 years in prison . . . meaning he’ll probably spend the rest of his life behind bars.

There could be another “Wayne’s World” movie in the works.  Dana Carvey posted a picture of him and Mike Myers, dressed as Garth and Wayne.  Are they working on “Wayne’s World 3”?  That would be most excellent!

Of Note:  Back in 2021, they reprised these rolls for an Uber Eats Super Bowl ad.  So this could (potentially) just be a throwback photo . . . or maybe another commercial.

Speaking Of Revamps: Warner Bros. Pictures is revamping the “Lord of the Rings” film franchise. On a Thursday earnings call, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced that newly-installed studio leaders Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy have brokered a deal to make “multiple” films based on the beloved J. R. R. Tolkien books. The projects will be developed through WB label New Line Cinema. The first “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, helmed by Peter Jackson, grossed nearly $3 billion worldwide; Jackson’s follow-up trilogy based on Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” matched those grosses. We’ve already had a few remakes of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!”  Now get ready for the SEQUEL.  Yes, they’re doing a sequel.  But it’s a BOOK, not a movie or a TV series.  Yet. It’s called “How the Grinch LOST Christmas!”, and it’s due out September 5th.  And in case you’re wondering, Dr. Seuss had NOTHING to do with it . . . it’s not based on any notes or manuscripts he left behind. But it’s being written and illustrated by two guys who’ve worked on Dr. Seuss-related projects before, so there’s that. The plot picks up a year after the events of the original.  The Grinch is still a good guy, but he struggles to remember the true meaning of the holiday as he attempts to decorate the most elaborate tree and win Whoville’s Christmas Crown. (You can preorder the book here.)

Last year HBO Max announced it was developing an “It” prequel series.  Well, it’s OFFICIALLY moving forward. It’s called “Welcome to Derry”, and the director of the 2017 and 2019 “It” movies is returning to “expand the vision” of those movies.   Still no word if Bill Skarsgard will return as Pennywise. Stephen King gave the series his blessing.  Quote, “I’m excited that the story of Derry, Maine’s most haunted city, is continuing, and I’m glad [director] Andy Muschietti is going to be overseeing the frightening festivities . . . “Red balloons all around!” (Variety)

Adam Levine just got ripped off when a classic car dealer sold him a FAKE MASERATI. Adam says he did a vehicle swap in 2021 with a guy named Rick Cole.  He gave Cole two cars worth almost a million bucks, and in return, Cole gave him a 1971 Maserati Ghibli 4.9 Liter Spyder. Apparently, only 25 of these were made, and they’re worth about a million bucks. Unfortunately, Adam found out his wasn’t real when he had it looked at by an expert . . . and he claims that Cole knew that when he sold it to him.  So he’s suing (TMZ)

In case you didn’t know, Mark Wahlberg is a proud Catholic.  He said focusing on his faith has helped him become a better version of himself. He even appeared on “Today” on Ash Wednesday with an ashen cross on his forehead.  Mark told host Savannah Guthrie, quote, “I don’t want to jam it down anybody’s throat, but I do not deny my faith.  That’s an even bigger sin . . . “It’s not popular in my industry, but I cannot deny my faith.  It’s important for me to share that with people.  I have friends from all walks of life and all different types of faiths and religions, so it’s important to respect and honor them as well.” He also talked about the importance of discipline, which is something that Catholics focus on during Lent, which leads up to Easter Sunday. Quote, “Once I started getting into movies and transitioned from music, I realized I needed a lot of discipline in my life, and that discipline has afforded me so many other things . . . “I want to share that with people, whether that’s with fasting, working out more, detaching from other things and just spending more time with God, in prayer or in thoughtful reflection.  Those things are important.” Mark is also a spokesperson for the Catholic prayer app Hallow (People)

Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman are joining the fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy. The two actors, who are married in real life, will play “a mild-mannered married couple named Jean and Gene, who are college professors,” “I mean, the deal’s not quite closed but let’s just pretend it is,” Mullaly said, revealing they start filming “in a couple of weeks.” The revelation comes after reported rumors that the two former Parks and Recreation stars were joining the Netflix series and are among several new roles being added to season 4. And just two weeks ago, the main cast, including Elliot Page and Tom Hooper, posted a photo of themselves as they reunited for a table read as they get to work on the upcoming episodes.

Dick Van Dyke appeared on the season 9 premiere of The Masked Singer and proved that at 97, he hasn’t slowed down. The Mary Poppins star — who married Arlene Silver, 51, in 2012 — credits a few different reasons he’s stayed young at heart. “Genes, I guess, for one thing,” Van Dyke said. “Having a beautiful young wife half my age to take care of me — that works! My positive attitude, I get that from my wife.” The four-time Emmy winner also stays active. “I wrote a book called Keep Moving: I still go to the gym three days a week and work out,” he continued. “And I advise everybody to do that, because that’s what ages people — it’s just a stiffening up and not exercising their muscles and their lungs. Exercise is the answer.”

Yes, “Cocaine Bear” is based on a true story . . . but VERY LOOSELY based.  The reality is that in 1985, a drug kingpin tried to abandon his malfunctioning plane with 75 pounds worth of cocaine strapped to his body. His parachute failed and he went splat in the Chattahoochee National Forest in Georgia.  A bear came along and ATE a bunch of that coke, then overdosed and died. Well, you can still see the REAL “Pablo Escobear”, because they STUFFED him and put him on display at the park.  But he was STOLEN, then changed hands a few times.  One of his owners was country star Waylon Jennings. Now he’s at the Kentucky for Kentucky Fun Mall in Lexington.  (Check out some pics here.  They even sell Cocaine Bear MERCH!)

7 years ago, comedian Bert Kreischer did a stand-up bit about being in the Russian mafia.  Now he’s made a comedy/action movie based on the bit, and what probably didn’t happen afterward.  It looks very funny.  Here’s part of the trailer for “The Machine”.

HERES THE CLIP:  The trailer is FILLED with profanity.

Of Note:  Mark Hamill plays his dad and is in a lot of the movie.  It comes out May 26th.
