Lisa Marie Presley Died Yesterday, Less Than Two Days After Attending the Golden Globes

Here’s how fast life can come at you:  On Tuesday night, Lisa Marie Presley was at the Golden Globes, drinking in Austin Butler’s win for playing her dad. Yesterday, her heart gave out at home and she died at the hospital. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, said, quote, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.  She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss.” Lisa Marie would have been 55 years old next month.  She was 9 when Elvis died in 1977.  She has three kids, including actress Riley Keough.  Another child, 27-year-old Benjamin, took his own life in July of 2020. Lisa Marie struggled with the grief over his death.  In fact, her last Instagram post was on National Grief Awareness Day.  She also had her battles with drug addiction. She was married to Michael JacksonNicholas Cage, and two other guys. Michael Jackson was one of the four people Lisa Marie Presley married.  When she was interviewed by Oprah in 2010, she explained why the marriage ended.  (From “Oprah” on Thursday, October 21, 2010.)

The Mother of One of Jeffrey Dahmer’s Victims Is Upset Evan Peters Won a Golden Globe for Playing Him

When Evan Peters won the Golden Globe for playing Jeffrey Dahmer, he said he sincerely hoped something good would come out of the show. Well, the mother of Dahmer victim Tony Hughes doesn’t think that’s possible.  She’s upset that Evan won the award, and that he even took the part in the first place. She says, quote, “There’s a lot of sick people around the world, and people winning acting roles from playing killers keeps the obsession going and this makes sick people thrive on the fame.” She’s also upset that people are profiting off these “sick people.”  Quote, “It’s a shame that people can take our tragedy and make money.  The victims never saw a cent.  We go through these emotions every day.”

Pamela Anderson Says She and Tommy Lee Were “Two Crazy Naked People in Love”

In an interview that will air this weekend on “CBS Sunday Morning”Pamela Anderson says her sex tape with Tommy Lee wasn’t meant for public consumption. Quote, “It was two crazy naked people in love.  We were naked all the time and filming each other and being silly, but those tapes were not meant for anybody else to see.” She added, quote, “I’ve not seen it to this day.  It was very hurtful.”

Listen to Prince Harry Tell the Story of How Putting Cream on his Frostbitten Penis Reminded Him of His Mother

When Prince Harry got that frostbitten penis, it reminded him of his mother, Princess Diana.  Don’t believe me?  Well, a clip of Harry telling the story from the audio version of his book “Spare” is going viral. It’s kind of . . . if you’ll pardon the expression . . . nuts.  Harry says a friend recommended he treat his delicate condition with Elizabeth Arden cream, which his mother used to put on her lips. He says, quote, “I found the tube and the minute that I opened it, the smell transported me through time.  It felt as if my mother was right there in the room, and I took a smidge and applied it down there.”

Jack Nicholson’s Friends Worry He’ll Die Alone Like Marlon Brando

Jack Nicholson’s friends are worried he’ll die alone like Marlon Brando because he’s reclusive and hasn’t left his home in over a year.  He’s 85. A source told RadarOnline, quote, “He’s made it clear his home is his castle.  But people just wish he’d come out of the house and pop up to . . . at least reassure folks he’s okay . . . “Brando died a virtual recluse after leading such a colorful life, and Jack’s friends are drawing the comparisons.  His kids will visit, but they’re his only connection to the world.  It’s like he doesn’t want to face reality anymore and that’s just sad.” In an interview in 2021, a source said friends are worried he might be suffering from Dementia because, quote, “his mind is gone.”

Geena Davis Was Allegedly Screamed at by Bill Murray in a Clown Costume

Back in October, Geena Davis described her bad experience with Bill Murray while filming 1989’s “Quick Change”.  This included him allegedly insisting he use a massage device on her. She talked about her experience with him in greater detail while on the “On with Kara Swisher” podcast earlier this week . . . including the time Bill yelled at her on the set. Quote, “Bill, in a full clown costume, by the way, slams into the trailer with rage coming out of his eyeballs and starts screaming at me and swearing at me, ‘Get the [eff] out there!  What the [eff] are you doing?  Move!  Move! . . . And he got behind me and screamed in my ear, ‘Move!  Move faster!  Move it!’ And we’re getting to this intersection where there’s hundreds of people watching this.” She got choked up and said talking about it is still emotional for her because she felt ashamed, and initially blamed herself for his behavior.

U.S. Cassette Tape Album Sales Grew 28% in 2022

In 2022, sales of albums on cassette tape in the U.S. increased by 28% to 440,000 (up from 343,000 in 2021). While 440,000 a mere fraction of the total album sales market (0.44% to be more precise), it’s a big figure for a format that was mostly non-existent a few years ago. In 2015, for example, cassettes sold just 74,000. In 2022, total album sales across all formats — digital and physical — numbered 100.09 million. Physical album sales totaled 79.89 million — thus giving cassettes a 0.55% share of the physical album market last year. (Physical albums include CDs, vinyl LPs, cassettes and other niche physical formats.) While cassettes are now a niche offering marketed to superfans, they were once the leading format for album purchases in the U.S., from the early 1980s until the early 1990s. Today, cassette tapes are frequently sold exclusively on an artist’s web store and in collectible editions. Tapes are often manufactured in specific colors, such as Billie Eilish’s pink-colored Happier Than Ever tape or Ghost’s metallic gold-colored Impera tape. The top-selling album on cassette in 2022 was the soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, with 17,000 copies sold.

Dr. Dre Reaching Deal to Sell Music Catalog for Over $200M

Dr. Dre has his sights set on becoming a self-made billionaire. The good doctor is nearing a deal to sell his music catalog and streaming ventures for more than $200 million. Dr. Dre, who is estimated to be worth $820 million, is said to be gearing up to sign the deal to hand over ownership to Shamrock Holdings and Universal Music Group. The deal includes percentages of two of his solo albums, his share of N.W.A. artist royalties, his producer royalties and the writer’s share of his song catalog. UMG would acquire “The Chronic” recording, which will subsequently transfer ownership from Dr. Dre to Death Row Entertainment in August. The package reportedly does not include ownership rights to the label Aftermath, which Dre co-owns with Interscope Records.

John Fogerty Finally Gains Control of CCR Publishing Rights

It’s taken nearly 60 years, but John Fogerty has finally gained control of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s publishing rights. This long, nasty battle began in 1967 when the John tried to get out of his deal with Fantasy Records.  He relinquished his royalties to the record label’s owner in 1980 to get out of the deal but never saw a payment. Then the label owner sued Fogerty for plagiarizing…himself, claiming his 1985 solo hit “The Old Man Down the Road” ripped off CCR’s “Run Through the Jungle.”  Fogerty ended up winning the case. Creedence’s publishing is now safe with John Fogerty after buying the majority interest in their rights from the label that bought out Fantasy Records. He once confessed that he thought he’d never get his publishing rights back.

The Cast of “Zoey 101” Is Returning for a Sequel Movie

Now that Britney’s conservatorship is over, I guess Jamie Lynn Spears has to work for a living. She’s doing a “Zoey 101” sequel movie for Paramount+ called . . . drum roll, please . . . “Zoey 102”.  It’ll come out later this year. A lot the cast is returning, including the actors who played Quinn, Chase, Logan, Michael, Stacey, and Mark.  All we know about the plot so far is that the kids from Pacific Coast Academy reunite for a wedding. “Zoey 101” aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008.

There’s a Pink Floyd Guitar Solo That Was Only Released on 8-Track

There’s a guitar solo from the Pink Floyd album “Animals” that you may not have heard . . . because it was only released on 8-Track back in the day. On other formats, the album starts with “Pigs on the Wing Part 1”, and ends with “Pigs on the Wing Part 2”. But 8-Tracks played differently from records and cassette tapes . . . and obviously, CDs didn’t exist in the 1970s. So in order to make the album flow better, they combined the two parts, and linked them with a solo, which basically made them a single track.  But only on 8-Track. When it went out of print, it stayed lost . . . until the Internet came along.

“Yellowstone” Is So Popular, City Folk Are Dressing like Cowboys Now

“Yellowstone” has become the most-watched scripted show on TV, and here’s a funny by-product of that popularity:  City folk want to look like COWBOYS now.  It’s an even bigger trend in the suburbs, apparently. “The Wall Street Journal” did a story on how cowboy fashion is very IN right now.  One fan who lives outside New York said he started watching the show, got really into the look, and now owns five pairs of cowboy boots. They also talked to a fan in GERMANY who’s been dressing like a cattle rancher more and more, all because of the show.  And the company that made the hats in season one can’t keep the replicas in stock.  They always sell out. One reason is because of the site ShopTheScenes.com that sells clothes worn on TV shows.  The executive producer of “Yellowstone” is a co-founder, and episodes feature QR codes to different products the characters wear. Wrangler also has its own line of “Yellowstone” stuff now.  But in general, things like belt buckles, cowboy hats, and Carhartt coats are just very “en vogue”. It’s not just guys, but women too.  The people at “Shop the Scenes” say they’ve sold out of the fur coat from Beth Dutton’s wedding multiple times.  And it’s not cheap . . . $995.
