A coronavirus outbreak at a hospital in San Jose, California has been linked to an employee wearing an inflatable Christmas tree costume on Christmas . . . and the fan in the costume spreading droplets.
As you probably heard, the coronavirus relief bill that Congress passed was filled with all sorts of pork that was totally unrelated to the pandemic. One thing that was in there: The Pentagon has to release its intelligence about UFOs within six months.
There’s been a schematic going around in some conspiracy circles online, and they say it’s the architecture of the 5G chip that’s being implanted when you get the coronavirus vaccine. Except . . . it’s actually the schematic for an electric guitar pedal.

TANYA ROBERTS isn’t very dead after all. Tanya collapsed on Christmas Eve after walking her dogs. She was put on a ventilator because she was having trouble breathing. On Sunday, Tanya’s agent reported her death, saying he got the news from her “husband”, Lance O’Brien. Well, it turns out Lance isn’t Tanya’s husband, but her longtime boyfriend. And yesterday, he was being interviewed by “Inside Edition” about her death, when he got a call from the hospital telling him she was STILL ALIVE. TMZ spoke with both Lance and Tanya’s rep, and Lance told them that he went to the hospital Sunday after doctors called and told him Tanya was fading fast, and wasn’t going to make it. When he got there she opened her eyes and tried to grab him, then closed them again. He apparently ASSUMED she was dead, and left the hospital without speaking to medical staff. Mike says he picked Lance up at the hospital, and Lance told him, quote, “She died in my arms.” In yet another interview, Lance said a hospital worker told him that Tanya opening her eyes was just a reflex, and that “for all intents and purposes she was gone.” He also said she’s since been taken off life support, and there’s no chance she’s gonna make it.

Two months later, Schon announced that bassist Randy Jackson, who briefly performed with Journey in the mid-’80s, had returned to the group, joined by new drummer Narada Michael Walden and keyboardist / vocalist Jason Derlatka.

- The NHL has plans to play a series of games in Lake Tahoe, Nevada this February. Hockey bosses have the idea that since fans can’t come to the matches, they’ll at least make the games look spectacular on TV with two Natural Wilderness Games.
- The two day NHL event will take place at Edgewood Tahoe Resort, which is much more famous for hosting golf tournaments. The games will take place around the resort’s 16th, 17th and 18th holes.
- The NHL had looked at other outdoor venues for the games, like Alberta, Canada and Park City, Utah, before choosing Lake Tahoe.
- Vegas, Colorado, Boston and Philly will be the teams hitting the ice during theNatural Wilderness Games next month.
As if the Blues’ season needed more complexity, their AHL affiliate, the Springfield (Mass.) Thunderbirds, announced Monday that they would opt out of the 2021 season because of COVID-19, leaving the Blues without a dedicated minor-league team. Instead, the Blues will share the Utica (N.Y.) Comets with the Vancouver Canucks this season before returning to Springfield, they hope, in 2021-22.
Both the Blues and Canucks will provide players for Utica.
Utica will be the third AHL team the Blues will be affiliated with in the past five seasons, plus another season where they didn’t have an affiliate. They were with Chicago in 2016-17, no one in 2017-18 when there was one less AHL team than there were NHL teams and the Blues were the odd team, and San Antonio in 2018-19 and 2019-20. The Blues switched to Springfield after San Antonio was purchased by Vegas and moved to the Las Vegas area.
Some of the Blues’ top prospects, of course, might never see Utica: teams will carry a six-man taxi squad because of COVID concerns, so the Blues’ top minor-leaguers will stay with them in St. Louis.
The NHL gave the Blues a break on fewer late starting times in the new West Division. The starting times of all 56 games were released for every team Monday by the league, and among the 28 road games the Blues have only 10 games starting after 8 p.m.
three 9:30 p.m. starts; five 9 p.m. starts; two 8:30 p.m. starts; nine 8 p.m. The rest are before 8pm. Jeff do you have something to say? Skate boys.
Speaking of schedules:
The NCAA announced Monday that its showcase event — the Division I men’s basketball tournament MARCH MADNESS, all 67 games of it — will be played entirely in or near Indianapolis. The hope is to limit the possibility that the coronavirus pandemic cancels the wildly popular and lucrative tournament for a second consecutive season.
Indy was already scheduled to host the Final Four but original plan was for 67 games to be played at 13 sites across the country. Selection Sunday is still set for March 14, the tourney field is expected to remain at 68 and the Final Four games are still scheduled for April 3 with the title game two days later
After a decade of being the Denver Broncos‘ chief football decision-maker, John Elway and the team have decided it is time for a fresh set of eyes to make the calls on the Broncos’ roster.
As the Broncos’ playoff drought has grown to five seasons after this year’s 5-11 finish, Elway said Monday that he will remain in place as team president, but the Broncos will hire a general manager “to make all football decisions, working in partnership with [coach] Vic [Fangio].”
The new GM will control the draft, free agency and the roster, according to Elway.
