Idris Elba and a deadly lion couldn’t beat Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was the number one movie at the box office over the weekend bringing in $21 million. Elba’s new film Beast only sold $11.5 million worth of tickets. Bullet Train, Top Gun: Maverick, and DC League of Super Pets round out the top five movies of the week.
Top Gun: Maverick continues to smash box office records. The film has officially passed Avengers: Infinity War to become the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time at the U.S. box office. Maverick has made $679 million so far. Tom Cruise’s movie would have to take out another Marvel movie to reach top five status. Black Panther is next up with earnings of $700 million.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez didn’t just throw a party to celebrate their marriage this weekend . . . they got married all over again. And J-Lo wore a full-on wedding gown, train and all. The ceremony went down Saturday at Ben’s estate in Georgia. All their kids were there, along with celebrity guests including Matt Damon, Jimmy Kimmel, Kevin Smith, and Jason Mewes. Ben’s brother Casey Affleck didn’t make it due to, quote, “family, parental obligations at home.” The same day her ex-husband was getting hitched, Jennifer Garner was spotted at a Sam’s Club in South Charleston, West Virginia. She was with her dad and her boyfriend.
Gary Busey has been charged with inappropriately touching three women at the Monster-Mania horror convention in Cherry Hill, New Jersey last weekend. The women say Busey groped them during a meet-and-greet. He’s charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact, one count of criminal attempt/criminal sexual contact, and one count of harassment. The convention says that after the incident, Busey was, quote, “removed from the convention and instructed not to return. They’re also asking anyone else who may have had an issue with Gary to come forward. Gary is 78 years old.
Remember when Kim Kardashian was tied up and robbed in a Paris hotel back in 2016? Well, Vice News spoke to one of the 12 elderly men who was arrested for that crime, and he’s not sorry. Yunis Abbas says Kim was kind of asking for it, the way she was constantly showing off her wealth on social media. Quote, “I saw one of her shows where she threw her diamond in the pool in that episode of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’. I thought: “She’s got a lot of money. This lady doesn’t care at all.’
Since she was throwing money away, I was there to collect it, and that was that. Guilty? No, I don’t care. I don’t care.” He added, quote, “[Celebrities] should be a little less showy towards people who can’t afford it. For some people, it’s provocative.'”
Jameela Jamil plays a character called Titania on the new Disney+ series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”. And she really enjoyed doing her own stunts. Even though it came at a cost. She says, quote, “I was hurting in a place that I really didn’t know exists. Like, you’ll probably have to bleep this out, but I pulled a muscle in my [B-hole]. I didn’t know that was possible!” She added that stunt work was, quote, “something I’ve never done before, because I’m the ultimate couch potato. I am just a puddle with bangs.”
If you ever met a Sasquatch, would you expect it to look like a hairy Jesse Eisenberg? Apparently, that’s how some people imagine him. Because Jesse isgoing to play a Sasquatch in a live-action movie from some filmmakers who actually won an award in 2011 for a four-minute short about a Sasquatch giving birth. It’s called “Sasquatch Birth Journal 2”. Jesse said he’s going to be in full makeup and full body hair. Quote, “No lines . . . I grunt, but no lines. I’m so looking forward to this.” A movie title and plot details haven’t been announced yet.
What could be better than having Robert De Niro play a gangster in your mob movie? How about having Robert De Niro play TWO gangsters in your mob movie? In the upcoming film “Wise Guys”, De Niro will play real-life, rival mobsters Vito Genovese and Frank Costello. Genovese tried to have Costello killed, and while the attempt failed, it basically forced Costello into retirement. So in other words, you could say that in this movie, De Niro will try to WHACK HIMSELF. It’ll be directed by Barry Levinson, the guy who did “Rain Man”, “The Natural”, and “Good Morning Vietnam”. FYI, the script for “Wise Guys” was written by Nicholas Pileggi. And he has a legit track record when it comes to mob movies. He wrote the books “Wiseguy: Life in a Mafia Family” and “Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas”. . . which became the movies “Goodfellas” and “Casino”. He also wrote the screenplays for them.
Disney+ has decided that your kids are mature enough to handle a show about farting.
As you may know, there’s an episode of the popular Australian show “Bluey”, where the title character accuses her dad of “fluffing” in her face. So the mom holds a TRIAL to determine who’s telling the truth. Well, Disney+ wasn’t going to add the episode to its catalog . . . but after people started complaining, they changed their minds. The episode is called “Family Meeting”, and it should be available soon.
At this point, there can’t be too many people still holding out hope for a Led Zeppelin reunion. But just in case you are, here’s Robert Plant putting yet another nail in that coffin. He says, quote, “Going back to the font to get some kind of massive applause, it doesn’t really satisfy my need to be stimulated. “I know there are people from my generation who don’t want to stay home and so they go out and play. If they’re enjoying it and doing what they need to do to pass the days, then that’s their business, really.”
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to receive another honor at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. The Chili Peppers will be presented with the Global Icon Award at this year’s VMAs. The band will also take to the stage to perform the new single “Tippa My Tongue” from the upcoming album Return of the Dream Canteen dropping Oct. 14th. This will mark the band’s first VMAs performance in more than two decades, having last performed at the 2000 VMAs, the same year that the band received the Video Vanguard Award. The Chili Peppers are nominated this year in the Best Rock category for “Black Summer”, the lead single from their recent studio album Unlimited Love. The MTV VMAs airs live from New Jersey this Sunday, August 28 at 7 p.m
Pantera recently released their first official teaser for their return to live stage. Taking to the official social media account, the band has updated with the first official teaser for the band’s upcoming comeback. The short clip, which features the opening notes of Pantera’s classic song “Cowboys From Hell.” Pantera has also been reported to perform at the Knotfest Brasil 2022 festival, set to take place on December 18. Pantera is also rumored to be performing at this year’s edition of Mexico’s Hell & Heaven Metal Fest, which could take place in early December. However, as of right now, no official announcement has been made about the festival’s participating artists. Last month, it was confirmed that the band’s surviving members Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown will unite with guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante for a world tour under the Pantera banner.

Who are Sam and Victor, you ask? They’re the VALET PARKING GUYS. The movie will tell the story of THEIR adventure when they took Cameron’s dad’s Ferrari for a joy ride in the original. They didn’t have names in that movie. They were played by Richard Edson and Larry “Flash” Jenkins . . . who died in 2019. Obviously, their parts will be recast with younger actors.

In consecutive games, The St. Louis Cardinals had players surpass records once held by icons Yogi Berra and Stan Musial. Saturday was incredible as the Cardinals smashed the Diamondbacks 16-7. Here’s just a couple things that happened at Saturday’s game. Displays of power. Incredible defense. Multiple Exciting Rallies. A “slump-crunching grand slam.” And An MVP homer and 100th RBI. And did ya hear about Albert Pujols? The Cardinals’ designated hitter cracked two home runs, finished with four hits, and along the way surpassed a record once owned by Stan Musial. His 10 total bases gave him 6,143 for his career, nine more than Musial and second only to Hank Aaron in major-league history (LINK). With his 691st and 692nd home runs, both off Madison Bumgarner, Pujols moved within eight of a record first reached by Babe Ruth. In the sixth inning, he lined a ball off the left-field wall that nearly left the field as well. He became the oldest player in major-league history to have four hits and two home runs in the same game, according to Baseball-Reference.com. The four hits also moves Pujols into 51st for most hits by a player after their fortieth birthday, passing Derek Jeter, George Brett, and Chaney White. With his a single in the seventh inning, Pujols became the oldest player in major league history to have four hits including two home runs in a game.
Lars Nootbaar, born 3.5 years before Pujols’ debut, had a tie-breaking, two-out triple in the 6th inning to split a 4-4 tie and race the Cardinals to their 14th victory of the month. Pinch-hitting for Pujols in the ninth inning, Arizona kid Nolan Gorman walked up to the plate for his big-league debut in his hometown and was greeted by boos. It was an insane evening that ended 16-7 (LINK)
Sunday’s game wasn’t quite as exciting but they finished the sweep with a bit more stress and a 6-4 finals score.

Missouri star freshman Luther Burden is making his mark before his first ever college football game even starts. The former five-star wide receiver posted about his name, image, and likeness deal with St. Louis potato chip company Old Vienna. Yep, the chips we love here in the studio. The chips he’s a part of are honey barbecue flavored versions of its Red Hot Riplets and set to hit Schnucks grocery stores across Missouri. Burden is a St. Louis native who started his high school career at Cardinal Ritter and finished up at East St. Louis. He was the No. 4 prospect in America in the Class of 2022 and signed with Missouri in December after de-committing from Oklahoma.Burden is the highest-ranked recruit to sign with Mizzou in a decade and has signed a number of NIL deals since he enrolled in school. He’s expected to be in the starting lineup when the Tigers open the season against Louisiana Tech on September 1 (LINK)
Dennis Rodman says he’s going to put his dictator diplomacy to good use soon in an attempt to free Brittney Griner, who’s currently jailed in Russia. The ex-NBA star told NBC News this weekend that he’s planning on jetting off this week, adding that he got “permission” to head over there and “help that girl” in a would-be prisoner swap. Unclear if Rodman is serious or not … but his track record suggests he could be. As we all know … DR has visited North Korea a lot over the years and built a relationship with Kim Jong Un. Rodman has always insisted his connections in N. Korea have helped U.S. diplomatic efforts — including the release of an American prisoner, Kenneth Bae.
LIV Golf will announce seven new players, including Open champion Cameron Smith, immediately after the FedEx Cup play-offs conclude next Sunday in another significant coup for the Saudi-funded series. Smith has apparently agreed a deal worth more than $100 million to play in Greg Norman’s breakaway league and the St Andrews hero’s sensational switch will be made official on August 29, the day following the PGA Tour’s season-ender. All seven golfers are believed to have competed in last week’s opening event of the FedEx play-offs. As soon as they tee off in Boston they will be hit with Tour bans.
The news comes in the week that Tiger Woods jetted into Delaware for an emergency meeting of top players and executives as the PGA Tour scrambles to respond to the ever-increasing threat of the rebel series.
One idea tabled would see the PGA Tour staging 18 tournaments with 60 players each and purses of $20 million.
Teachers will be calling on a lot more Kobes in about five years. As KTLA reports, the name “Kobe” tops the list of baby names presumably inspired by sports stars between 2000 and 2021. The list, compiled by Betsperts, found that more than 17,000 infants born in the US in that time period were given the same name as the NBA great, who was killed in a helicopter crash (LINK) in January 2020. After his death, parents’ selection of “Kobe” saw a whopping 201% spike from the previous year. That percentage increase was topped by none other than “Tiger” (for Tiger Woods), which experienced a 225% jump between 2009 and 2010. Here are the top 10 names:
