Poison’s Brett Michaels has stepped up to help recent tornado victims in six states. Through his Michaels Entertainment Group, the singer’s team is currently collecting clothes, blankets, and toys to take to six states affected by last weekend’s storms, like Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Michaels wrote this week “We all must pull together to help those affected by this devastation and aid in any way that we can, especially during the holidays.” Wanna find out how you can help those ravaged by the recent storms and tornados?  Visit BretMichaels.com.  Last December, Bob Dylan sold his song catalog for a sum believed to be over $300 million (LINK) dollars. Neil Young sold half of his publishing for $150 million this January, and artists such as David CrosbyStevie NicksJourney and Motley Crue have also cut deals for their masters and / or publishing rights. The pandemic has caused a dramatic reduction in touring revenue for musicians, and the current dominance of streaming media over physical media sales sucks for musicians. Here is David  Crosby’s reasoning for selling…”I can’t work, and streaming stole my record money,” “I have a family and a mortgage and I have to take care of them, so it’s my only option. I’m sure the others feel the same. The latest icon to sell rights is  Bruce Springsteen. He reportedly sold his masters and publishing catalog for half a billion dollars. Gillies was signed to a one-year, two-way contract last week because Jordan Binnington was in COVID-19 protocols and Ville Husso sustained a lower-body injury. Gillies became the fifth goalie to play for the Blues this season when he started Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks. Gillies made 36 saves in a 3-2 overtime loss. Binnington has been cleared from COVID-19 protocols and will be eligible to rejoin the team for practice on Thursday. Binnington has missed seven games while in protocol. The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired head coach Urban Meyer, ending a horrible stint with the franchise after only 13 games. Owner Shad Khan said: “After deliberation over many weeks and a thorough analysis of Urban’s tenure with our team, I am disappointed to arrive at the conclusion that an immediate change is imperative for everyone. I informed Urban of the change this evening. As I stated in October, regaining our trust and respect was essential. Regrettably, it did not happen.”  Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season and GM Trent Baalke will remain in place. Tonight on Thursday night football – the Chiefs take on the Chargers in San Diego.  Kick off is scheduled for 7:20PM – make sure you get your picks in at 1057thepoint.com/picks. The Washington Football Team added eight more players to their COVID-19 list on Wednesday, bringing the team’s total to 18. Nine of those 18 players were possible starters for Sunday’s game against the Eagles. Overall, seven teams are in enhanced COVID-19 protocols: Washington, Cleveland, the Bears, the Falcons, the Lions, the Rams and the Vikings.  Baker Mayfield recently tested positive and he will be out Saturday’s game against the Raiders.

There was just under 5 seconds to go in the Thunder/Pelicans game.  The Pelicans were up 110-107.  The Thunder inbound the ball and boom – they hit a three to tie things up at 110 with 1.4 seconds left.  And then…this happened.  Final score…113-110. Speaking of buzzer beaters…The odds of  Lakers rookie Austin Reaves even being in an NBA uniform on Wednesday night, let alone on the court in overtime and trusted to hit the game-winning 3 to beat the Mavericks 107-104, were astronomical. All 30 teams passed on him on draft night, and the two-way contract he signed with L.A. was only converted to a full-fledged roster spot after the Lakers suffered injuries during training camp.  And now – the fact that not only did he hit the game winner…but the dude was 5 for 6 from three point range.  Great night for your NBA debut. The NBA got its first case of the omicron variant in a recent COVID-19 test. It is unclear which player tested positive for the variant. The first case of the omicron variant in the United States was confirmed on Dec. 1. The news comes as the NBA continues to deal with a recent outbreak of COVID-19 cases. Within the last two weeks, 36 NBA players have entered health and safety protocols.  Up in Canada…The Toronto Raptors, Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators will limit home games to a 50 percent crowd capacity. America’s number one ranked high school football player, Travis Hunter, flipped his commitment to Florida State to play for Deion Sanders at Jackson State. Hunter made the announcement yesterday. In his social media post, Hunter said, “Florida State has always been a beacon for me. I grew up down there, that’s where my roots are, and I never doubted that I would play for the Seminoles. It’s a dream that is hard to let go of, but sometimes we are called to step into a bigger future than the one we imagined for ourselves. For me, that future is at Jackson State University.” The irony is that Coach Sanders had his college glory days at Florida State
