Chris Rock is coming back to TV with a “reimagined” version of his autobiographical comedy, “Everybody Hates Chris”.  It’s called “Everybody Still Hates Chris” and this time it’s going to be ANIMATED. Like the original, Chris will narrate it . . . and the stories will be inspired by his experiences growing up as a skinny nerd in the late 1980s in Brooklyn. There isn’t a release date yet, but it’ll be on Paramount+ and Comedy Central. The original “Everybody Hates Chris” ran for four seasons from 2005 to 2009.  There’s no word if any of the cast will be back . . . as VOICE actors.

Season 4 of Stranger Things rocked the world. And now…the official writer’s room for Stranger Things is apparently back in session — which means writing prompts and ideas for the fifth and final season are officially underway. Over on Twitter, the official Stranger Things writers account shared an image of the team’s writers’ board as they get to work on the fifth and final season. They simply captioned it, “Day 1”. The fifth season is set to be released in 2024.

Batgirl is a no-go. The highly anticipated feature film adaptation has officially been scrapped at Warner Bros. It will not premiere on HBO Max or any platform at the studio, nor will it hit theaters. The movie had a nearly $100 million budget and they were doing test screenings for audiences in anticipation of a late 2022 debut. However, those tests were said to be so poorly received by moviegoers that the studio decided to cut its losses and run, for the sake of the brand’s future. The movie was already filmed and completed (LINK)

Jake Gyllenhaal will star in a remake of “Road House”, which is being produced to stream on Amazon Prime.  The original came out in 1989 . . . and starred Patrick Swayze as a bouncer, who has to clean up a rowdy bar. In the new version, Jake will play a former UFC fighter who, “takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems.”  It’s too soon to say when it might premiere.

Selena Gomez is producing a reboot of the ’80s comedy, “Working Girl”.  The original came out in 1988, and starred Melanie GriffithSigourney WeaverJoan Cusack, and Harrison Ford. The movie is expected to premiere on Hulu, but it’s still a long way off.  There aren’t even any details on how similar the plot will be . . . or who may star in it.  For now, Selena is only being mentioned as a producer.

If you haven’t heard, there’s a new “Exorcist” TRILOGY in the works, and Ann Dowd has just joined the cast.  You might know her from “The Leftovers” and “The Handmaid’s Tale”.  The rest of the cast includes:  Leslie Odom Jr. and Ellen Burstyn, who’s revisiting her role as Chris MacNeil. The first movie is supposed to hit theaters in October of NEXT year.

Dev Patel . . . from “Slumdog Millionaire”“Lion”, and “The Green Knight” . . . broke up a KNIFE FIGHT in the street where someone was stabbed. It happened on Monday night in Australia, where Dev lives.  He was with some friends, when they saw a man and a woman GOING AT IT outside a convenience store. The woman had apparently stabbed the man in the chest, and the local news released footage of Dev talking to the police after things cooled down. A rep for Dev confirms that he “acted on his natural instinct to de-escalate the situation and break up the fight.”  But added, quote, “There are no heroes in this situation.” The man was hospitalized and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  The woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.  It’s unclear what their relationship was . . . but the police say they DID know each other.

Have you ever been enjoying a nice, peaceful walk, and then been rudely interrupted by . . . Tom Cruise doing daredevil stunts?  Probably not.  But that’s what happened to a couple in the U.K. They say they were out walking on a mountain when Tom arrived . . . on a helicopter at the top of mountain . . . to do a paragliding stunt. And he apologized to them when he noticed them with their dog.  He said, “Sorry for disturbing your peaceful walk with all the noise.  I like your dog.”  And then he added, “See you later, folks” and then JUMPED OFF THE CLIFF. No word on what he was filming, but if we had to guess, probably “Mission: Impossible 7”.

The new season of Beavis & Butt-Head—set to return August 4 to Paramount+—will feature music videos from Tyler the Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, Post Malone, Camila Cabello, Cale Dodds, and BTS. While the duo traditionally roast music videos (and now TikTok and YouTube videos, as well), the second episode of the new season features Beavis letting it slip that he’s a member of the BTS Army who can name specific favorite members of the group.

As Demi Lovato focuses on a new sound musically the singer is also getting back in touch with her feminine side lately. Demi has decided to include “she/her” pronouns with “they/them.” While chatting about her new album she made the announcement. Her new album….Holy FVCK ..comes out on August 19.

Is Tom DeLonge back in blink-182? That question has been the source of plenty of speculation of late, but during a chat on Discord, Mark Hoppus revealed that there is “no news to share” concerning DeLonge’s status where blink are concerned. Many are aware that the relationship has improved over the past year, with DeLonge communicating with Hoppus (LINK) throughout his cancer battle last year, which had led to some speculation about the musician’s possible return. Hoppus said “There is no news to share. There is no announcement. Today is thirty years of blink-182! If and when blink has any announcement about anything, you will hear it from the official blink-182 outlets. Not teased on a radio station like ‘tune in for a major announcement…Tom tagged Mark in a photo from two decades ago.’”

Shakira is now going to trial and is could be facing up to 8 years in prison.  Last Friday prosecutors unveiled six charges against Shakira after she rejected a settlement deal earlier in the week. She’s being accused of failing to pay $15 million in taxes between 2012 and 2014 in Spain, a period in which the star says she was not living in the country. According to court documents, Shakira was a resident there during that time frame. She did purchase a home in Barcelona in 2012. In addition to prison time, the filing calls for a fine of $24 million should she be found guilty. A statement from Shakira’s representatives this week maintained that she is “fully confident of her innocence” and says the case is “a total violation of her rights.” The story emerges a month after she and her partner of 11 years ended their relationship. They share two children together.

Dave Grohl usually maintains a regular presence in the media, but he’s been understandably quiet following the March death of close friend and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. In June, though, he returned to the stage for the first time since Hawkins’ death with a surprise appearance during Paul McCartney’s Glastonbury set. Now, we know a bit more about what the rest of Grohl’s 2022 will look like: Grohl is on the newly revealed lineup of Joe Walsh’s 2022 VetsAid charity concert on November 13 in Columbus, Ohio. It appears Grohl will be a special guest during a reunion set from James Gang, Walsh’s pre-Eagles band. The performance is scheduled for after the upcoming Hawkins tribute concerts (LINK), on September 3 at London’s Wembley Stadium and September 27 at Los Angeles’. Meanwhile, also on the VetsAid lineup are Nine Inch Nails, The Black Keys, and The Breeders.

Sports Report 1

Molina returned from knee inflammation that had sidelined him since June 16. Paired once again with Wainwright, the two 40-year-olds teamed up to shut down the Cubs last night 6-0 .
Wainwright pitched seven great innings, Goldschmidt homered and drove in three runs to lead the offense. Dylan Carlson hit a two-run homer and Nolan Arenado added another.
So let’s get to the drama.. “We really felt like we were getting inconsistency out of our rotation,” John Mozeliak said as we approached the trade deadline. So, within 30 minutes of yesterday’s deadline, the Cardinals sent center fielder Harrison Bader to the New York Yankees for lefty Jordan Montgomery. St. Louis also included a PTBNL (player to be named later) stipulation that they will add a minor-league player to the deal from an agreed upon list if Bader is not back from his foot injury for the Yankees POST SEASON. Jordan Montgomery joins Jose Quintana as the two lefty starters the Cardinals acquired in 24 hours and will debut in the rotation right away we assume. In regards to the Juan Soto hopes John Mozeliak said Tuesday that he knew Monday night that Soto to St. Louis was not happening. Instead. The San Diego Padres stole the spotlight at the trade deadline. They made the trade of all trades this go round, acquiring Washington Nationals phenom Juan Soto, along with first baseman Josh Bell, in exchange for six prospects. As if that wasn’t good enough, the Padres also got star reliever Josh Hader from the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. This means the that one of the wild card chasing teams we deal with besides the Dodgers, THE PADRES just got Juan Soto, Josh Hader and Josh Bell
Now, Soto does not have a long-term deal yet, so the amount of time he will spend in San Diego is undetermined. But if Soto can bolster a roster that already features Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado, the Padres could win something much bigger than the trade deadline.

Tiger Woods Rejected $700-$800 Million Offer From LIV Golf.  This gold legend is not interested in the big money! Tiger Woods turned down an offer between $700 million and $800 million to join the LIV Golf Invitational Series. LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman revealed the details of the staggering offer during an interview Monday night. He said the huge proposal came from the league even before he had officially taken the executive role with the org. – Check it out. Tiger did not accept the offer and last month while at The Open in Scotland, he ripped some of golf’s biggest stars for taking the money and bolting from the PGA Tour. “I think that what they’ve done is they’ve turned their back on what has allowed them to get to this position,” Woods said of the LIV golfers — which includes huge names like Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Dustin Johnson.
