NED BEATTY. . . one of the greatest character actors of all time, died yesterday of natural causes. He was 83 years old. The 1972 film Deliverance is the reason banjo music and scary woods people go together. More recently, he was the voice of the evil Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear in 2010’s “Toy Story 3”. In between, his credits included “Nashville”, “All the President’s Men”, “Silver Streak”, “The Toy”, and the first two “Superman” movies, where he played the goofy sidekick to Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor. He was Rudy’s dad in “Rudy”, and a sympathetic prison warden in “Life”, starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. He also played Dan Conner’s dad on the original “Roseanne”
Last week, Katt Williams said that Cedric the Entertainer stole one of his jokes to use in the iconic Kings of Comedy movie. On Friday, Cedric spoke up about the accusation.
He is 10 inches taller and 64 pounds heavier so in their “boxing” match ex basketball player Lamar Odom…youd think he would have tore up the much smaller Aaron Carter. Yea he tore him a new one. Lamar stopped Aaron with knockdowns in the first and second. Aaron didn’t get knocked out either time, but after going down the second time, he just STAYED down. Neither “fighter” showed much actual skill, but Odom didn’t need any to dominate.
“Friends: The Reunion” has brought in the most subscribers for HBO Max this year. More people signed on for that show than “Mortal Kombat”, Zack Snyder’s “Justice League”, and “Godzilla vs. Kong”. This is probably because the reunion was the first time the cast was together since the series finale 17 years ago. It was originally meant to come out with the debut of HBO Max, but it was delayed due to Covid-19. It doesn’t hold the record, though. “Wonder Woman 1984” brought in over double the amount when it came out last holiday season.
If a TV game show called “Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide” had a kryptonite, it would probably be EXPLOSIVE DIARRHEA. Well, there IS a show called “Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide” that’s going to debut on NBC in August . . . and production had to shut down indefinitely because of . . . you guessed it. There was an outbreak on the set of giardia . . . a parasite that causes nasty gastrointestinal issues. A source says that up to 40 crew members fell violently ill. There was a lot of running to port-o-potties, and some people even collapsed. It doesn’t sound like any pools or slides were soiled. The show only has about a week’s worth of taping left to do, and they’re trying to figure out how to do it. “Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide” is hosted by comedians Bobby Moynihan and Ron Funches . . . and they didn’t get sick.
Rob Riggle (link) is going thru a divorce. I don’t know why but this crazy. Riggle’s wife, Tiffany, filed for divorce (link) in October after 21 years of marriage, but Rob claims things got worse shortly after when $28,000 in emergency money went missing from his home office and the ex claimed to not know what happened to the money. Riggle also was staying at their smaller home and felt he was being watched. Tiffany stayed with their 2 kids at the family home. She had access to his place and Riggle alleges Tiffany hacked into his Apple account and downloaded his emails, texts, contacts and photos … but then he says things got really strange. Riggle claims Tiffany somehow had knowledge of private conversations he’d had in his home office when she wasn’t around at all. She had no reason to know these things. Riggle and his girlfriend set up the ex by giving false info as a test of whether any of it later leaked out … and sure enough it did. Riggle had his home electronically swept for devices in April … and claims a hidden spy camera was found in his smoke detector. He says the device had a memory card with more than 10,000 videos with sound on it, and he believes it was installed in August 2020 and possibly monitored him until he discovered it. And, get this — Riggle claims one of the vids shows Tiffany standing on a ladder installing the spy camera, and another vid shows her sitting on the floor of his home office counting money … which Rob believes is the $28k he says went missing. Riggle’s been granted a temporary restraining order against Tiffany, and there will be another hearing in July about his request for a forensic expert to sift through all the alleged spy footage.
Someone in Los Angeles spent just over $17,000 to propose to their girlfriend via skywriting — which included a totally out of nowhere insult to podcaster Joe Rogan. On Saturday, the words “Will you marry me Mollie Pratt?” appeared in the sky above Los Angeles. Multiple people on Twitter said that this was followed by a series of follow up messages from the same skywriter: “She said yes,” “I love you more than anything,” “Excited to spend my life with you,” and “Until death do us part.” THEN The whole thing ended with one last message: “Joe Rogan is literally 5 foot 3.” Damn. So far anyway, no one has taken credit for the proposal publicly, but Sky Typers said the person paid $17,500 for 10 messages total.
Jay Leno just set a new land-speed record. Jay was recording a segment for an upcoming edition of his CNBC show “Jay Leno’s Garage” by taking a Tesla Model S Plaid out for a spin on a racetrack in an attempt to break the quarter-mile land-speed record for a production model. Leno did it in less than 10 seconds at more than 150 mph (at Autoclub Famoso Raceway) in Bakersfield, California. He ran the quarter-mile in 9.247 seconds at 152.09 mph. To offer some perspective, other vehicles in the nine-second club include the Bugatti Chiron, McLaren P1, and Dodge Challenger Demon. “It is now the fastest production car you can buy. Faster than any Ferrari, faster than a three-and-a-half-million-dollar Bugatti,” Leno said of the Tesla Model S Plaid, which retails for about $135,000.

Metallica is suing insurer Lloyd’s of London over a handful of South American shows that were canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lloyd’s has allegedly refused to compensate the band for losses they endured from six South American dates, even though Metallica purchased a “cancellation, abandonment and non-appearance insurance” policy. Lloyd’s is using its “communicable disease exclusion” so it won’t have to reimburse the band and claim Metallica is “unreasonably” interpreting the policy. While Metallica is suing its insurer for unspecified damages, the band has also released a new batch of its Blackened Whiskey. Buy a bottle of the limited edition batch at BlackenedWhiskey.com
Some artists have already postponed their return to the road until NEXT year . . . but not GARTH BROOKS. He’s moving full-steam ahead, and his tickets are selling like crazy (link). But COVID-19 isn’t over, and musical acts will be saddled with extra expenses to help ensure the health and safety of fans. Some musicians might raise ticket prices to cover those costs, but Garth isn’t. An average ticket is still going for around $95 . . . just like they were pre-pandemic. He said (link), quote, “You’re either going to make an absurd amount of money or you’re going to make a lesser absurd amount of money . . . I can’t imagine raising the ticket prices to make sure [I] keep making the absurd amount of money. “My thing is: If we make 100% of each ticket . . . and because of the Covid regulations and restrictions that we have to put in and pay for, we make 95% . . . I’m more than OK with that.” Garth also refused to talk about what happens if things get bad again, and he gets shut down. He said his managers have a plan, but he’s focused on looking forward.

The Cardinals continue to struggle. They got swept by the Cubs over the weekend dropping all three in Chicago. What that means is that Cardinals have 1 win in their last ten games. Yikes. Yesterday the series ended with a 2-0 loss. Tonight, the team is at home to start a series with the Marlins. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15PM…Adam Wainwright gets the start.

Kyle Larson was back in the NASCAR All-Star Race, and got another $1 million by winning it again. There were no points on the line, but Larson went to Victory Lane for the third weekend in a row.
Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen was “gone” before he was resuscitated after suffering a cardiac arrest. Eriksen is in a stable condition after he was taken to a hospital on Saturday after he collapsed on the pitch during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland. The team doctor said: “He was gone, and we did cardiac resuscitation. It was a cardiac arrest. We got him back after one defibrillator, so that’s quite fast. I’m not a cardiologist, so the details I will leave to the experts at the hospital.” The game between Denmark and Finland was halted in the 43rd minute following the incident and was resumed later Saturday, resulting in a 1-0 victory for the Fins with Eriksen being named star of the match.
Terrance McKinney made history on Saturday as he knocked out Matt Frevola within seven seconds during his UFC debut, marking it the fastest knockout in the history of the lightweight division. The fight was part of the early preliminary card for UFC 263, and this monumental win comes just eight days after McKinney picked up a 72-second knockout victory at LFA 109. However, McKinney’s high did not last long. He pushed himself to the top of the Octagon, but when he dropped down, McKinney landed awkwardly. He immediately clutched his knee and needed to sit on a stool for the post-match interview. He said he will just need to “stretch it out” but we shall see.
The United States Women’s National Team looks ready for the Olympics. The Americans handled Jamaica in a commanding 4-0 victory in Sunday’s international friendly in Houston. They wasted little time getting started with first-half goals from Carli Lloyd, Lindsey Horan and Margaret Purce and put things on cruise control in the second half before Alex Morgan buried the final goal in stoppage time. It was more dominance for the US, who extended (link) their unbeaten streak to 41 consecutive matches. They have also won 17 straight at home and are 8-0-1 on the year with a 27-1 goal differential.
