Disney’s big D23 Expo went down in Anaheim over the weekend, and there was a lot more scoop to go along with Harrison Ford hyping “Indiana Jones 5”.  Here is what else went down….

  1. A teaserfor “The Little Mermaid” included a snippet of the new Ariel, Halle Bailey, singing “Part of Your World”
  1. They also dropped movie trailers for Hocus Pocus 2” and the “Enchanted” sequel Disenchanted.
  1. In movie news, we’re getting an “Inside Out 2”in the summer of 2024.
  1. On the TV side, we got trailers for “The Santa Clauses”, Percy Jackson & the Olympians“Willow”“National Treasure: Edge of History”Tales of the Jedi, and Marvel’s“Werewolf by Night” and Secret Invasion.

You can check out all the trailers here

One of the biggest guests at D23 – as mentioned before –  was Harrison Ford, who showed up to hype the fifth “Indiana Jones” movie.  And he got pretty emotional talking about it . . . especially since it’s going to be his last. Ford was also reunited with Ke Huy Quan . . . who played Short Round in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” 38 years ago.  He was at D23 because he’s joining the cast of the Disney+ show “Loki”.

If you’re one of those people who love to devour an entire season of a show in one sitting, I have some potentially bad news for you:  Netflix might start moving to a classic one-episode-per-week format. At least for some shows.  But don’t worry . . . they’re NOT doing it for Season 5 of “Stranger Things”. Netflix is facing so much more competition, with all the other streaming services ramping up their original content.  And they think the weekly format will keep viewers engaged over longer periods of time. It allows fans to discuss, theorize, predict, and of course PICK APART the show along the way.  And it allows word-of-mouth to grow so that a show can gain in popularity as it progresses. And from a viewer standpoint, it cuts down on spoilers.

Last week, Kris Jenner appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden. She took a lie detector test and was asked if she was responsible for leaking the infamous Kim Kardashian sex tape with Ray J. Jenner said no and the polygraph examiner said she was truthful. Ray J. saw the show and went off in a series of Instagram posts. In a video, he said. Another 30 MINUTE video was posted where Ray J accused Jenner of making him the scapegoat after the video was released years ago.  In a 44 MINUTE video Ray J showed off alleged “receipts” of Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian being involved in getting the sex tape distributed. There was also possible evidence of there being three sex tapes.

Spirit Halloween: The Movie is nearly here, just in time for the spooky season. The second trailer for the upcoming film, inspired by the nation’s largest Halloween retailer, Spirit Halloween, just arrived over the weekend. The film will have a limited release starting September 30, and will be released on all VOD platforms on October 11 followed by DVD and soundtrack releases later that month. The movie tells the story of three middle school friends who spend the night locked inside a Spirit Halloween store, only to discover that the store is haunted

Who’s ready for a new season Kellyoke?! The popular segment is returning to her daytime Emmy award-winning show. Kelly Clarkson shared a clip ahead of her season 4 premiere today of The Kelly Clarkson Show where she is seen sitting down with legendary country singer Garth Brooks for some “Songs and Stories”. In the clip, Clarkson listens to Brooks recall stories from throughout his life. One of those stories was when he knew his wife Trisha Yearwood was “the one” for him. Brooks recounts the time he took Yearwood to a baseball game and describes her as a “sports stud” and “a guy that’s got all the great girl stuff.”

Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee announced that he joined OnlyFans by showing his butt cheeks to fans attending the ‘Summer Stadium’ tour’s finale in Vegas Friday. Lee went on a long rant about his recent nude selfie controversy, saying “I showed you my s**t. They took it off the internet.” After telling the crowd that he’s “gone over to a place” where he can show his junk for “free”, Lee unzipped his pants and mooned the crowd, revealing “OnlyFans” written across his butt. Lee’s serious, too.  He has joined OnlyFans, but you can’t see him in the buff for “free” like he claimed.  It’ll cost you $39.95 a month.  He’s got six posts up so far as of today.

The fellas from Staind said the band is working on a new album that they’ll release next year. They added that members will also continue with, Saint Asonia, while front man Aaron Lewis will continue his country solo career. Looking like summer of 2023 for the new album.

Sammy Hagar and the Circle have released a video for their new song “Funky Feng Shui,” which appears on their upcoming album, Crazy Times. The 10-track LP arrives on Sept. 30 and follows the band’s 2021 sophomore effort, Lockdown 2020 (LINK). Hagar included a version of “Funky Fen Shui” on Lockdown 2020, in which he and his bandmates recorded their parts remotely. The video for the new edition of “Funky Feng Shui” can be seen below.

Disney+ announced that Elton John’s final U.S. concert will be streamed live from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Nov. 20. With his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour (LINK) scheduled to end in Stockholm in July 2023, the broadcast will appear alongside a documentary titled Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances And the Years That Made His Legend. How much did it cost Disney for the live show and the doc?  About $30 million.

Who needs the tabloids to speculate how Britney Spears feels about her dad, when she’ll go to Instagram and let you know herself.  Here’s her latest post, talking about how she was made to have multiple MRI’s, and she has no idea why. She wraps by saying that she hopes her dad “burns in effing hell.” This is a short version of what she said.  She wondered if she had cancer and they weren’t telling her.

The battle between 50 Cent and The Game might come to fists.  During a recent concert stop in Houston, Game said that things will go down the next time the two meet.  He said THIS….….50 Cent saw the clip of Game’s rant and responded by tweeting, “oh no, you making me nervous – now you know it’s not safe around me when i’m nervous LOL.

“Absolutely legendary,” manager Oliver Marmol said. “I’m not quite sure what we’re witnessing right now.” Those were the Cardinals managers word to describe what is happening in baseball with Albert Pujols right now. Like over the weekend, Pujols’ hit his 697th home run ball that had ricocheted off a couple of seats in right-center field. It was a game-winner to cap a four-run ninth inning that gave the Cardinals a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday at PNC Park before a crowd of whopping crowd of 10,398 that got to see some sweet history. Pujols briefly shared fourth place on the career home run list with Alex Rodriguez when he homered the night before, then Pujols moved to three homers away from the 700 club, which has three members. Barry Bonds has 762 homers, Henry Aaron 755 and Babe Ruth 714. The fans that caught the ball had recently lost the wife’s father and when they tried to give the historic ball back to him outside the Cardinals’ clubhouse, Albert would have none of it, especially when he heard about the death of her father.

“Albert, you’re really going to walk away from that?” asked the husband. “It’s all good,” Pujols said. “I have plenty of baseballs. She deserves it more than me.” She and her husband got another signed ball from Pujols. And Later, Pujols said, “It’s just a baseball. They deserve to have it. It went out of the ballpark. We play this game for the fans. So whether they want to give it back or they want to keep it, I don’t have any problem with it.” Pretty cool. Congrats Albert and we expect a dozen more this week (LINK)

Patrick Mahomes (LINK) opened Kansas City’s NFL season with five touchdowns as the Chiefs defeated the Arizona Cardinals 44-21. The 26-year-old quarterback was dominant from the get go and found the end zone three times in the first half before adding two more late on. The Chiefs defense also did well to hold Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray to under 200 yards as the 2020 NFL champions began their 2022 campaign in solid fashion.

A dominant defensive display handed the Miami Dolphins a 13-point win against AFC East rival the New England Patriots. The defense came away with a touchdown, an interception and a forced fumble while keeping the Patriots’ offence quiet for all but one drive. Missed opportunities for Green Bay summed up the story of the Packers’ 23-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Rookie wide receiver Christian Watson dropped a 75-yard touchdown pass on the opening play of the game as quarterback Aaron Rodgers gave up a crucial interception and fumble en route to a 16-point defeat. Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield fell just short against his former team, going down 26-24 to the Cleveland Browns. The New Orleans Saints came from behind to beat the Atlanta Falcons 27-6. The Bears overcame the San Francisco 49ers by nine points in torrential conditions in Chicago.  The Indianapolis Colts were forced to settle for a 20-20 tie with the Houston Texans after Rodrigo Blankenship missed a 42-yard field goal in overtime. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, Washington Commanders, New York Giants and Los Angeles Chargers rounded out Sunday’s week one victors (LINK)

Tom Brady briefly retired this offseason before deciding he is not ready to walk away from the NFL, but it sounds as though the end is near for the seven-time Super Bowl champion. Sources with knowledge of Brady’s thinking said that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers star is expected to call it a career following the 2022 season (LINK).

Brady is not under contract beyond this season. The Bucs would undoubtedly sign him to a new deal if he wanted to keep playing, but it is noteworthy that the two sides did not work out an extension this offseason. That is likely an indication that Brady does not intend to play next year. Though, one source close to Brady told Rapoport that Brady’s decision could be impacted by how the 2022 season goes. Brady may feel more inclined to keep playing if the Buccaneers do not win their second Super Bowl in three years. Brady turned 45 last month. He has said previously that he wanted to play until he is 45. As we know Brady was away from the Bucs for 11 days during training camp, and he still has not explained why. Rapoport confirmed a previous report that Brady and his wife Gisele vacationed at an exclusive resort in the Bahamas (LINK) during that time. Brady is said to have committed to the trip during his brief retirement. There have been rumblings that Brady and Gisele have hit a rough patch in their marriage. That could impact whether Brady plays another season in 2023 or finally hangs it up.

Speaking of Brady and the Bucs, the dude has had plenty of great games but Sunday night wasn’t one of them. The Buccaneers played an ugly, winning game against the Dallas Cowboys. On Sunday night, the running game and defense led the way in the 19-3 victory. The biggest news came after the game when Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced Dak Prescott needs surgery on his (right) throwing hand (LINK) and will miss several weeks. Prescott was injured in the fourth quarter after being hit on the hand. So gonna be a rough one for Dallas it seems.

Ever wonder how much NFL cheerleaders get paid? Considering how much time NFL cheerleaders commit to their teams and considering how much NFL franchises are worth, it is likely that you are underwhelmed by how much the make. Sometimes cheerleading requires arriving at games five hours prior to prepare for their performance or spending 30-40 hours a week in practice, and yet, they are paid significantly less than anyone else involved at the stadium.

In fact, they don’t just make little, they make minimum wage. Fifteen-year-old lifeguards who just started their first job earn the same amount of money as these cheerleaders who spend 14-hour days in the stadium and most of their lives on buses to and from games. In 2021, NFL cheerleaders finally took a stand and rose to the occasion, filing lawsuits to help their cause. With the 2022-23 season on the way, let’s take a look at what NFL cheerleaders make today and why it is so little:

How much does an average NFL cheerleader make per game?

Surprisingly, NFL cheerleaders do not earn as much as you might think. On average, the cheerleaders earn about $150 per game (LINK). This comes out to about $22,500 per year. They also receive anywhere from $50 to $75 if they are featured for a public appearance. If we are not talking about averages, the most cheerleaders usually make is approximately $500 per match. That is, if you’re a popular, well-known squad.

For instance, Dallas Cowboys (LINK) cheerleaders, aka America’s Sweethearts, who happen to be one of the most popular groups in the NFL, earn about $15-20 per hour, or $500 per match. Therefore, their yearly salary comes out to about $75,000. Similarly, the Carolina Panthers cheerleaders’, otherwise known as the Carolina TopCats, are paid $75,000 yearly. Also know that they are paid as “independent contractors.”

The Ty Cobb T206 is the “holy grail” for collectors, but for as much as the card is worth (up to millions), about 50 reportedly exist … now, if you’re looking for something truly unique, there’s another piece of memorabilia that recently hit the auction block — Ty Cobb’s freakin’ dentures … his actual false teeth. SCP Auctions (LINK) currently has Cobb’s chompers — top and bottom — on the block, along with the “original plaster denture holder and brass opening device.” After Cobb’s death in 1961, the teeth were preserved. Ty’s biographer, Al Stump, held the teeth for years before unloading them at Sotheby’s in 1999 … to the current consignor, who held the dentures for over 22 years.

In 1909 he won the Triple Crown, the A.L. MVP in 1911, and was a 12x batting champion. Cobb averaged .366 and had 4,191 hits over his 24-season career.

Cobb was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936.

Speaking of Cooperstown, in June 2001, these teeth went on display (LINK) at The Hall … where fans were able to view the one-of-a-kind item. The auction, which ends Friday, already has a nearly $10K bid (there have been 7 total bids).

What is the longest home run ever hit? How far did it actually go? With the data we have, here’s the verdict on the longest home runs in baseball history:

Now remember Modern baseball includes countless tools for measuring exit velocity, launch angle and projected distance on home runs. However, for much of MLB history, there wasn’t even an exact way to determine the length of tape-measure home runs.

The longest verified home run in American professional baseball history didn’t even happen in the majors.

In 1987, Joey Meyer (LINK) of the Triple-A Denver Zephyrs launched a moonshot into the second deck of Mile High Stadium. City of Denver engineer Jerry Tennyson was able to verify the distance of the home run at 582 feet.

Determining the longest homer ever in MLB history is an exercise in myth-busting.

Babe Ruth was said to have hit a home run over 600 feet. A Mickey Mantle homer was originally estimated to have gone 734 feet. While those feats would shatter Meyer’s mark, there was no technology or tool that could give an exact measure of those distances.

Ruth, Mantle, Reggie Jackson, Willie Stargell and Adam Dunn have all hit blasts well past 500 feet in their careers. ESPN had a Home Run Tracker that was able to estimate the distance of certain dingers, but there is still no conclusive list of the longest homers throughout MLB history.

So What is the longest home run in recent MLB history?

In seven-plus seasons since Statcast’s inception which was in 2015, two home runs have traveled more than 500 feet. Here are the 12 longest dingers in the Statcast era (LINK):

  1. Nomar Mazara, TEX, 2019: 505 feet
Giancarlo Stanton (LINK), MIA, 2016: 504 feet
    3. Christian Yelich, MIL, 2022: 499 feet
    T-4. Aaron Judge, NYY, 2017: 496 feet
    T-4. Miguel Sanó, MIN, 2019: 496 feet
    T-4. Jesús Sánchez, MIA, 2022: 496 feet
    T-7. Aaron Judge, NYY, 2017: 495 feet
    T-7. Joey Gallo, TEX, 2018: 495 feet
T-7. Ronald Acuña Jr., ATL, 2020: 495 feet
    T-7. Miguel Sanó, MIN, 2021: 495 feet
    T-11. Michael A. Taylor, WAS, 2015: 493 feet
    T-11. Gary Sánchez, NYY, 2017: 493 feet
